Good deal, though it might help if in your title you advise that this is really only good for those in Sydney/NSW or planning a trip there.

  • Does this restaurant have a Michelin Star ?

    • michelin star doesnt reach down under.
But blancharu is a decent restaurant. Typically cheap food for what its worth imho.

EDIT: realised haru (previous chef) has sold his restaurant to yomo, thus the special i s'pose. Can't speak about his food since I've not tried it but a michelin star chef can't be all bad i guess.

      Blancharu opening up ramen shop!

Location somewhere would be good, in title would be best.

  • According to the reviews, the portion of the meal is so small you'll end up still hungry afterward

    • I was at Blancharu a couple of years ago for our anniversary. Wasnt too bad. It looks small in portion, but it is alright filling (I eat a lot). You definitely dont walk out of there "buffet full" style, but it is pretty filling.

      • Is it before or after they change owner?

        • Dunno when they changed hands. Maybe it was the previous owner since it was 2 years ago now.

Is there a Sizzlers nearby for afterwards ?

its the usually maccas the traditional pit stop after un-fulfilling degustation

i rather takeaway asian food… cheap cheap! $10 dollah! That's 1 meal with drinks in chatswood and remaining for a nice happy massage.

        • Oh wow…

        • exactly.

    • Only bogans claim to leave degustations SO HUNGRY WE HAD TO GET MACCAS DRIVETHRU LOLS.

      It's never happened. Ever.

They just saw Demolition Man one time, probably on a pirated vcd they picked up in Phuket, and then decided to share their epic comedy stylings with the world. Chances are they have never actually even eaten at whatever restaurant they are currently crowing about; they just saw a photo of a small course out of context and then internet hilarity (allegedly) ensued.

FWIW, pretty much every degustation I have been to, I have left with stomach pains.

      • lol depends on where you go mate. maybe you are a small eater.

no point arguing. There are reasons why those restaurants in Sydney closed down. I'm betting lack of value is one.

        • Fine Dining and Value don't necessarily go together. That's why it's only an occasional thing! Hardly anyone has degustation menus every night! They're for special occasions where value generally isn't the greatest priority, rather the experience and quality.

        • I am definitely not a small eater, but agree with jjcf - full stomach after each degustation. But I also agree with you, that for the same money you can live off MacDonalds for a week. There is a small difference which some people can't see/value.
Same as someone can live with $19 headphones for their 192kbps MP3 while someone else needs FLAC or vinyl and $30k analogue amplifier and $5k headphones.

        • correct, they don't necessarily go together.

spending 2k at the fat duck and coming back being charged 2k for something of a lesser experience would meant that the value is less. no?

i am not talking about economical value btw.
