DigitalOcean is giving away $50 credit to all new customers for one day only. Go on their site, register an account and in the billing stage, enter "BLACK50" as a promo code. This will give you $50 credit (equivalent to 10 months of free basic VPS hosting).
However, the catch is that they either want you to enter billing details (CC) or they would like you to put in $5 using PayPal.

So once my PayPal payment gets verified how do I get the $50?
I did put the code in before getting transferred to the PayPal site and yet still no $50 credit
You were supposed to enter the code and wait for a confirmation that you received $50 credit… that's what I did.
How long after paying the $5 did it take?
10-20 seconds for me, you should talk to them on their IRC or contact them, if you didn't get the credit. I'm sure they'll fix it up.
I jumped on IRC and they suggested to create a support ticket which I did and it was responded to and sorted out in under 2 minutes.

I specifically wanted Digital Ocean because I heard good things about them. I singed up put the code in, it gave me $50 credit then paid the $5 with PayPal.
All works well, have my LAMP server running like a gem in minutes, just updating DNS on my domains now.
Works for existing accounts (I signed up in Feb but never completed my billing info) - so a thumbs of for me. When you go to the billing page, there should be a field at the bottom. Just chuck the code in there and viola.
Doh. Just tried it and it says the coupon code has already expired :( meant to try Digital Ocean for ages.
Highly recommend DigitalOcean as an unmanaged SSD Cloud hosting company.
