Mirabella LED Bulbs Discounted at Coles E.g. 6W Normally $25 Now $15 - Bayonet & Screw-in

21

1st post. I've been looking at LED bulbs online but always end up scared off by expensive shipping. Seems like a good chance to buy one or two to try out.

I have a 4W Mirabella bulb for the pantry which is fine and this 6W in the (small) kitchen and it's just enough. YMMV.

Note the discount percentage is wrong. Some are $20->$15 and this one is $25->$15. Enjoy :)

EDIT: changed the link to the photo I took

  • Have you been to bunnings lately? $12.90 for many of theirs. Free to pickup.

    Some cheaper.

    • Ah, thank you! I have been to Bunnings lately but not for these.

I hear Philips are the dog's proverbials for LED so I will check them out next time. Cheers :)

I bought a Philips 6W LED for $6 last time at Woolworth…was on clearance.

  • 450 lumens at 9w is 50lm/w. Any CFL beats that. A better choice is the Philips LED range available at Woolworths and Bunnings. 600 lumen / 8 watt for $13.50, 800 lumen / 10 watt for $16, 1200 lumen / 13 watt for $20. This Mirabella CFL is being discounted because it's still way too expensive.

    • Actually its 6W - another thing they got wrong on the ticket (you can't see the discount % which is also wrong because its hidden by the box)

      • How many lumen does the 6w product produce?

        • 450, it's the one in the photo - just got cut off.

Recently a Mirabella CFL bulb I bought from KMart exploded (partly, one side of base) on switching on first time. Not buying this brand again as it is a pain searching for pieces, especially when kids at home! It takes a while to fully brighten too, better to stick with quality brands like Philips. ALDI bulbs cost the half and is still better.

    • CFL but fair enough if you had a bad experience.

I missed out last time at Aldi, it's such a pain to be there early and line up on a Saturday - or worse Wednedsay.

Sorry i too have had a bad experience with this brand -if i wasn't home it is likely a fire may have eventuated :(

Second that on bad experiences. Generally found their bulbs to die very quickly. Admittedly this was years ago, I've never been game to trust them again.

      • I have the same experience. Bought them for a number of years and was always dissapointed how quickly they fade in brightness and how quickly they stop working. Mirabella suck. Never again.

  • Just to check, can an LED be inserted into say any normal jight fitting and does/do the watts translate to the same compact fluro eg 6w = 6w?

    • +1

LED is just another type of light source such as compact fluro and incandescent. Thus, whether LEDs can be inserted into a normal light fitting depends on its connection-type (i.e. bayonet cap, screw, candle) just like compact fluro and incandecents. For the watts of an LED, yes the watts used by an LED is equal to those of any other type of light source like compact fluro (6W LED=6W Compact Fluro).
