  • Health tip: get a blender, not a juicer!

Too much pulp. Won't be drinkable unless you're blending watermelons and citrus only.

      • I blend - my concoctions are drinkable, but thicker than juice as you say.

I think healthier because you are drinking more of the fruit.

        • I think I'd rather eat the fruit than drink some mash of several different fruits.

What do you put in there?

Apparently blenders destroy the nutrients because there is heat from the friction against the blades, and the juice has a metallic taste to it as well. I have a cold press juicer and I can vouch that it tastes much better. However, I cannot vouch for this juicer as I have a different one and it costs like 6 times more.

      • Same here, bought a brand name cold press from Good Guys, the juices taste sensational, plus you get more juice per fruit then the old style juicers.

      • Agreed, DeadPool: we got a Bosco BF-150 (sheer luck - my Mummy got a BOGOF deal and I got the GOF), and since we got it I've been juicing daily. I literally just finished a beetroot carrot and apple juice before I sat down; yesterday I tried a kale, apple and carrot (tasted like the smell of a lawnmower catcher). Also used it to make peanut butter.

I'm among the biggest tightarses that ever drew breath, but having seen half a dozen cheap blenders eat dirt over the last couple of years, I would run a mile from a cheap cold juicer because of the stress the parts are under.

      • Do you have any problems with some pulp leaking into the juice?

  • Kogan sells a juicer for $79 as well.

I don't expect much from either juicer though.

  • Just FYI these are from Hong Kong / China, and they sell them bulk to distributers at @30-50 USD approx each. (Source - use the model number)

I am checking out this one: http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/125386

Trying to find a good one for under $150

Cold press juicers for that price are bad. I had a cheap one and it broke under 4months. They are not worth the money and they have crap warranty. If I was going to invest in one I'd go for Korean made ones.

      • bought 5 (share with my neighbor and family) from avancer, none of them broken till now. all working fine, i use every 2 days to squeeze my fresh orange juice (bought the orange from flemington for $8-10/ box - 15 kg and I can make around 10 lt of fresh juice)

    • here you go from alibaba

    • correct $30-50/ pieces, that's wasn't included the shipping cost to australia, import tax, gst when you sell to your retail client, shipping cost to your retail customer, giving at least 12 months warranty (hmm last time i saw somewhere that stated electronic warranty at least 2 years) and you also need hire someone as well for all the operations.
you need to purchase 800 unit if like to get that price.

      $75 is cheap.

Again, I ask for 1 scientific study that informs us how many enzymes, nutrients or whatever are destroyed by blending compared to juicing. If anyone has 1 study of quantitative data on juicing vs blending I would like to read it.
    Thanks

check the scientific journals dude, there's tons of stuff to read through but there's studies for and against just like organic.

We're not here to convince you, make your own choice.

I got tired of reading most things to be honest, read way too many studies and some of them make you feel sick (not talking about juicers just food production in general).

I find the best thing to do is let my body decide which one makes me feel better / is best for me. Eat or drink something and see how I feel. Obviously subjective but I think your body is a pretty good detector for most stuff unless you are on pain meds or something that puts you out of sync

      • good to point us to the research you know of as we may not find what you know.

Just give me 1 reference to look at. Is that too much to ask. Thanks in advance.
