Good to see it back for another year. Also after 6pm on NYE - see http://ptv.vic.gov.au/news-and-events/news/christmas-and-nye…

Thanks OP. I might catch the train and see if I can get bodyslammed for free as well

    • To be fair, the girl that got bodyslammed was being a dick to the officer. Sure body slamming may have been excessive use of force (wasn't there, can't make a definitive comment). However, people these days really need to learn some manners.

Try and punch me in the face and you'd get the exact same treatment… bitch got everything she deserved

She slapped him and in return the action he took may have resulted in a brain or spinal injury. Look at that footage, she is a slight of frame 15 year old girl. Picking her up and slamming her downwards head first was Not deserved.

Also if someone grabbed you from behind and you weren't expecting it many peoples reaction would be to automatically lash out but I do not know if she was being persued before he grabbed her from behind.

She slapped him and tried to scratch his eyes out to blind him

    • they should be paying us to use it! considering the kind of service we get :|

    • cant expect anything with those rattler trains

    • And yet…having just visited Sydney, again, there was me and the bestie raving about how fabulous your public transport is, compared to Melbourne's! LOL!

Doesn't help when the buses leave you behind at stops on Christmas Day! Had 'national' do that to me out at montmorency one year as a kid!

it would never happen. shitty rail the scummest of ripoff artists using the most ancient old crapola trains since 1980

      • +1

        1980? did you mean 1972?

They have done this for a while now. I've been hoping to take the wife and kid to Bairnsdale or Warnambool by train on Christmas Eve and return on New Years. Total cost for the vacation travel? Zero.

Wake up Fatty O'Barrel we want this too!

Just remember that some lines may be replaced by buses in sections on new years eve - such as Sunbury/Bendigo/Ballarat.

Congratulations on your luxury. Now why don't you fly off to sub-Saharan Africa, point out how they're such 3rd class citizens, and brag about how they lack access to clean water, good sanitation and food.

Haha, we get the last laugh….you live in Newcastle.

I would HIGHLY recommend you do touch on, if you don't, the system won't allow you to exit through any gates.

    • +3

  • The usual free entertainment on New Years' trains will also be provided on the way home (i.e. drunks) ;-)

    Around about what it's worth

  • That's interesting. Buses normally don't operate on public holidays (with a few exceptions), or at least not xmas day.

    • Always do at a Sunday timetable

  • does something like this happens in sydney? i am there for new yrs?

  • What a waste of a free day - everything is closed on Dec. 25th. They couldn't have made it another day?!

  • +1

These free days always piss me off because they never include compensation for those that already have a paid ticket

  • How do I book on V/Line for this?
