  • Can this be used with just plug to convert the end to an aussir plug, worried about the voltage?

    • +1

It has a universal power supply just like the PS3 so it's only a matter of getting it plugged in.

You could use an adaptor on the plug, but it's probably cheaper to just buy a new cord. It's pretty common cord so you might even have a spare one lying around from some old device.

Edit: Actually it looks like adaptors can be had for very cheap now days. $1.99 on eBay.

As a note, I read it uses the exact same cord as the PS3 so if you have that already or need a new cable then those will work.

        • +3

Just to clarify, it's the same power cord as the Slim or Super Slim PS3 (a figure 8 cord). It's different to the original fat PS3 power cord.

I would personally spend a bit more on a grounded adapter, if I was going to use it for a PS4.

        • +1

          What for?

The PS4 doesn't have a metal case and thus doesn't even use 3 prongs. Even if you get a grounded adaptor you will not have anything to go into that 3rd hole as it's a 2 prong device.

Grounding for the internal hardware is already being done via the neutral prong.

      • I realise this is over, but I have an Amazon PS4 and the two pronged US plug is quite weak.
I easily bent the pins into the right shape for the AU GPO and have had no issues.

(It is very easy to twist… I simple inserted one prong it into a power board and gently rotated. Repeat for the second prong and then plug it straight in).

Given the incidence of blue-led-of-death, I'd want local warranty on one of these.

    • Exactly!

    • Pretty sure Amazon has international warranty, but given how few PS4s are being made available if you did run into trouble I wouldnt expect a swift replacement

    • Given the incidence of blue-led-of-death, I'd want local warranty on one of these.

      Unbelievable.
You'd think these quality problems would be addressed well before they do a big pre-Christmas release. PR disaster.

I remember reading about the Red Ring Of Death; apparently Microsoft decided it was worth it for them to have a whole bunch of Red-Ring-Of-Death devices hitting landfill or being returned and making people upset, just to get the console out earlier and help them against their competition. More thorough hardware validation would have taken far too much time. It seems the best (?) way today is to use the market as guinea pigs.

So it may be the same wasteful and disappointing trade-off again, except this time with Sony.

Lots of disappointed one-star reviews on Amazon.

FWIW, people that have had faulty units from Amazon has had new units shipped out immediately, usually with a free game of accessory. This includes Overseas orders and also a prepaid return satchel for the old unit.

Shit happens, atleast amazon knows how to handle it.

    All sold out.

  • damn too late

  • I wondered Amazon will ship to Aus.
Normally they don't ship electronics outside USA.

    • Sometimes they don't in this case they were tho.

    • its fairly hit or miss, but a fair few things will sip here.
