  • *Min cost $295 on a 6 month direct debit plan (including $75 std install and $75 equipment fee) based on Essentials Pack with Foxtel iQHD or MyStar HD STU.
New residential subscribers and standard install only.

    • So the effective week price for 6 months is around $11

You get a $50 discount on the IQHD equipment fee. Makes it $245 for the 6 months of essential.
Adding Sport is where they get you.
Price doubles if you want sport and then climbs to $74 after the 6 months.
Triple what the offer is for the basic essentials package. Nice price with sport in month 7. That's where they get you!

  • Damn, still live with my parents who just cancelled, would set it up in my room at these prices but new subscribers only :(

    • +1

call them and ask anyway… they may be desperate for business and just do it? nothing to lose.

    • What's classified as a new customer? If your parents were paying for it before and you are planning on paying for it now, wouldn't that make you a new customer?

    • You can get it yourself via Foxtel Play if you've got something like an Xbox.

    Such a rip off.

Netflex through a proxy for $10 a month with infinitely more shows ftw.

    • +6

I don't see how this is $6 a week with the fees involved.

For one, a 'cancel fee' applies and they also add $150 on for installation and equipment.

Better to use netflix as mentioned above and you also won't be giving Rupert Murdoch money.

    • Noob question. Can you watch Netflix from you're smart tv or some other option through you're tv? Also are programs channels already preset or do you choose what you want to watch similar to quickflix?

      • +1

I use Netflix through a WD TV Live Hub. I then grab a Netflix gift cert for a year thru eBay (I got mine for $32 but anything less than $40pa is good) and I prefer to use Getflix instead of stuffing around with VPN etc. There's a very good thread on Whirlpool on how to reset the boxes and set up this kind of config. I watch it on the TV and on the computer, if I feel like it.

Netflix is more a library of TV Shows, Docos, Movies etc that you set a profile up on and it can make recommendations or you can scroll through. Having never bothered with the one you've mentioned, I can't compared it but it is very easy to use.

        • Thanks for the advice. Will keep it in mind. Will it work with the wd tv live streaming?

They thrown the insurance and funeral adverts for free too, add on repeat series its a bargain. Think Netflix no ads at all for $13.

Guys bad news, Johnny got injured buts its ok cause he has income insurance.

      Drives me crazy.

      • I really love the ones that try and guilt old people into buying it.

Don't burden your poor family with your funeral costs… the inheritance they'll be fighting over will cause them more than enough stress.

  • Yeah how does the $6 a week get counted. It clearly states $6 a week including the installation???

Got mine 3 weeks ago and absolutely loving it. Previously had quickflix but hate choosing what to watch. The essentials package is not to bad actually. Got nickelodean, disney, cartoon for the kids. Wife loves tv1, fox8, fx and I get my docos fix with national geographic and discovery channel. It might not be for everyone but great for my family. I ended up haggling for 23.50 p/month + free hd iq box. Just had to pay for $75 installtion. They even chucked in free 2 months movies premium drama and 1 months kids package. You just have to ask around for a decent price. Min price $216 for 6 months contract or works out to be $8.30 p/week.

    • And with the money you saved, you can put it towards your income protection/funeral plan/life insurance… now if we could only find one…

My parents have it at their house and all i do is sit there and listen to them both moan about how bad it is when i go over.

  • Hey guys you can watch Foxtel on your new Xbox free for 7 days check it out:
