LG 60PN6500 60" FHD Plasma TV $978 + $2 Delivery @ The Good Guys

160

Previously posted for $1098 with a suitcase: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/125602
or $1049 with a $50 giftcard: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/122853

This time it's under $1000 with metro delivery. Available online now, or from Boxing Day in-store.

It lacks 3D and Smart TV functions, but that's no big deal for plenty of people. Should make a very good display for a HTPC.

    Happy Xmas to me :)
    and to you all !

  • I really like this, but wife wants smart tv. Is there any add on gadgets which can turn this into a smart tv?

Just depend on what you are after for the "smart" TV and what you already have in place…
      just some examples:
      - you can add an Apple TV (on special for $81)
      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/127950
      - connect your notebook/tablets/ PC to it…

      • Was thinking of adding some Apps from Google Play to the Smart TV, not just the Samsung or LG Apps. Is it possible? If not, then this will be quiet good

Besides the options suggested by m2000 already:
      * An Android mini-pc, like these: http://www.laptopmag.com/android-sticks.aspx
      * A Home Theatre PC (HTPC): a proper Windows/Linux desktop PC, packed into a smallish case that is styled to fit in with your home theatre equipment

      • thank you, looks good. Heading for the kill.

      • a proper Windows/Linux desktop PC

Or the other one! A mac-mini also makes a nice HTPC.

  • Is it good for bright room during the day?

    • Probably not, judging from what I see in the linked review and some Amazon comments. I've heard that plasma is not very suited to such environments anyway, and this one is worse than some others.

    • We have a plasma and LCD … Plasma for us is better in real world situation where room has light. So each to their own. We moved plasma to main lounge near big glass sliding doors

    • either is bright, better than CRT. It is projectors that need a dark room.

Except delivery is $49 to where I am. So unless you're going to be picking up in store, OP is the better deal for $2 delivery.

  • Don't forget to claim your Disney Planes Doona Set (valued at $40RRP), Cars and Cars 2 Bluray DVDs (valued at $34.95RRP each) from here. T&Cs.

EDIT: Sorry, it's probably too late as had to be purchased by 24/12.
