  • The cheaper Hobart - Tokyo flights are excellent value….

    • Were $138, now $256 each way - amazing price.

Looks like Jetstar are moving to mainly fly Melb-Narita, with Jetstar-Japan & Jetstar-Australia connecting with those flights??? Fills the seats on the international flight plus sells the domestic flights. Great for those in Melb wanting to go to Tokyo, but not so good for many others.

Just back from $420 return GC-Osaka trip I booked last Boxing Day.

Unfortunately no cheap deals this year for Queenslanders. Cairns & Gold Coast were preferred destinations for Japanese, so were cheap hubs for us.
      In same sale period…
      Cairns-Tokyo return $785
      GC-Tokyo return $925
Would be cheaper to fly from Brisbane to Tokyo via Hobart!

    Syd-Tokyo $138

I'm getting $436 for Sydney -> Tokyo, what am I doing wrong?

    • +1

I can't find them either, they probably made only a dozen flights available or something.

      • They're still available as part of the Melbourne-Tokyo route launch. Select Destination Narita and you'll see them - travel period 8 May - 19 June.

        • Yah there're there but can't find one for $138?

        • +1

Just rung the call center and got told that every single flight from melbourne and routing through Melbourne has been sold out. I clicked on the deal about 20 minutes after it began, so they must have had a total of 2 seats available.

Sounds like a case of bait advertising, illegal under Australian consumer law.

        • +1

Rather a strong claim for someone who has absolutely no knowledge on how many seats were made available. $138 to Japan is a bargain, it wouldn't shock me to find they've sold dozens of seats at that price within minutes of launching.

        • Agree. As this deal was posted (in my case 44 minutes) after so many thousands received their promoted Jetstar Sale email, most seats probably would have gone before it was even listed on OB.

  • I just booked and paid for flights from Sydney to Tokyo through the Cathay Pacific deal and paid $3100 for a family of 5. To go with Jetstar about a week later would be $2600…:/ That sucks, oh well at least with Cathay I get food and entertainment included and I also get to see Hong Kong for a few hours rather than Gold Coast airport.

  • Is the jetstar sites getting ozbagained? It's not loading for me

  • +3

    Japan is awesome

  • -1

Tigerair's $1 return is working out cheaper on everything I've checked.

  • Tempted to take up the syd melb ticket. Just wondering, is it convenient to travel to the Melbourne city from Avalon Airport ? If I'm not wrong it is the smaller airport ?

    • +1

no problems with Avalon, and to get from Avalon to Melbourne its a 40 min drive on the one highway

      • thanks

  • Jetstar site not working well. Make one search and then all the boxing day sale stuff disappears???

  • Not expired yet. Sale extended until 3 Jan. Some flights still available.
Just booked Brisbane-Hobart flight. But some specials were only $10 less than outside sale period anyway. So left buying return flight until later. The (Oz)bargainer's dilemma.
