I've always wondered why people go crazy over Kinect; isn't Kinect as shit as PS3's Move?

    • Lol, PS3 move is now under $30 and kinnect still at $100

      • Probably because Kinect is still better than PS Move. Also Eb has had Kinect for $30

        • They both tried to capitalise on the Wii's motion controllers which were shit in the first place. All 3 are absolute shit.

  • Kinect is probably shit. Kinect sensor can be used as a 3D scanner and thus is not shit! No xbox required. Google will fill you in on the details.

    Kinect is very overrated.
    $100 is expensive anyway.
Jb hifi had connect plus 4-5 games for$79 for ages afew months ago.
If u pay $100 u rgetting ripped off.

I'm sure the majority of young children would disagree with you.

Where can you get it for less than $93?

It's all well and good JB-Hifi was selling it for $79 a few months ago, how about now a number of us have just purchased an XBOX 360?

Even EB Games is selling it for $79
        https://ebgames.com.au/xbox360-149063-Kinect-Xbox-360

        • I've punched in postcodes 2000,3000 and 4000; and it's only showing up at one store in NSW, and only if you pick it up.

        • From my limited research today the cheaper prices are coming up as no one is stocking them any more. So you may get lucky and find the last one on the shelf somewhere, but it's doubtful. Even eBay is selling them second hand for $70. Your link even says in store only. JB selling them cheap a few weeks back was to clear stock it seems.

  • currently the cheapest one.

  • I got one for $40 and I still feel ripped off. If you're really keen for motion gaming just play the Wii.

If you like to do exaggerated movements and then have the game respond a second later, then yeah Kinect is grrrreat.

plenty of things you can use the awesome Kinect for….

the OpenGL harp is amazing! (my URL is not for the harp, youtube it tho)

You can get a console for less than this

  • Do you need a big room to play Kinect? I was thinking of getting it for my dad who is in a wheelchair/bedridden. Will it work for him? (And me standing next to him).

    • Kinda, you can get an accessory though they makes it work better in smaller spaces from memory.

    • I'm not sure he would be able to use the kinect if he can't stand. Every kinect game I've played (admittedly not that many) have required you to stand, jump, etc.

    …from their terms and conditions:

Harvey Norman Online is an independent franchisee that has been granted a franchise by HN Online Franchisor Pty Ltd ACN 148 935 808 (“Harvey Norman”), and a limited licence by a related body corporate of Harvey Norman to trade as “Harvey Norman Online” from the website.

Why does that feel like a scummy tax dodge?

      They're professional price match avoiders?

  • You can usually get then at EB for $50 new.

    • Which one?

      • I've seen them at Riverton WA. But this was a month ago.

        • So what everyone is saying is most stores were selling Kinects cheap to clear space for PS4 and the One. I'm sure random places may have it cheap but this seems the best place which has stock.

  • I'd wait for a price reduction on the first model kinect cameras once xbones can be bought without a pre order, it's a lot more fun than ps move and more potential , but not really worth it for $100 unless you're purchasing for a kid or something

I'd sell mine cos that thing is never getting used.

I just bought an Xbox Kinect + 4 game disc bundle at JB HiFi about 10 days ago at Garden City (Brisbane). They also had the same price at JB HiFi Loganholme but no stock. garden City had stock and I walked out of the store with it. $69 was the advertised and paid price for the Kinect + 4 games (2 come in the Kinect box, then an extra 2 given separately).

If you are after a bargain, I picked up a pre-owned Kinect from EB Games for $37. Works a treat with the brand new Xbox 360 the kids got for Christmas. The Kinect is a bit of a novelty for adults but don't dismiss it for the kids, they love it.

    • I went to try and get one from EB but they didn't have any in the two centres I went to. I'd call to check first to save a trip.
