What did the rabbit say to the fridge?
    "You are my Westinghouse"

    • +1

      Still hangovered mate?

    • I can't believe somebody neg'd you for that :(.

The more usual telling of the joke goes like this:

A lady opened her refrigerator and saw a rabbit sitting on one of the shelves. "What are you doing in there?" she asked. The rabbit replied: "This is a Westinghouse, isn't it?" to which the lady answered, "Yes." "Well," said the rabbit, "I'm westing".

Different rabbit, different fridge. I mean TV.

        • +1

"My" rabbit can speak and understand across the species divide: this does not concern me. Yours, however, speaks to household appliances…too weird!

Should work fine with a set top box or PVR. The built in tuner will not work here.

    • You should be able to play blu-ray too

  • You'll need to get an AU 2pin figure 8 power lead for this TV since it would come with a US power lead in the box. One of these would do. Just a small $6 expense.

  • Might sound obvious but keep in mind that manufacturers warranty for this product will not apply as it is only applicable in the USA and Puerto Rico

    http://westinghousedigital.com/support/warranty/new-products…

    • +1

Well it may mean you have to send the TV all the way back to the US for warranty. That would be costly through any courier.

      • +1

Here are the Return details as mentioned on SEARS website …. I think its only applicable if the item shipped was incorrect, damaged or DOA.

If the TV goes bad after a couple of months (which is rare), then ofcourse buyer has to incur shipping costs.

How do I return a product?

To initiate a return, please contact us by email at [email protected]. We will provide you with instructions on how to ship your return, the cost of return shipping and the amount you will be refunded. We will create a RMA (Return Merchandise Authorization) and provide you the RMA number. We will also email you the return instructions, a pre-paid return shipping label and commercial invoice. You may either drop off the return to a local DHL depot or call your local DHL office to schedule a convenient pick-up time.

OK, PQ may not be as good (although I'm watching my fridge right now and blacks leave a lot to be desired, not to mention the back-lighting only working with the door open!) but the benefits over this deal are obvious…

    • +1

not to mention the back-lighting only working with the door open

      Nice!

      • Is your refrigerator running? Because if it isn't, then….

This will not work in Australia as a TV (The US uses ATSC while Australia uses DVB; you'll need a PVR). And there's no local warranty.

I'd suggest buying a Bogan http://www.kogan.com/au/buy/40-led-tv-full-hd-za or the Dick Smith posted by McFly…

    • I've never heard of a Bogan TV :D

      • +6

Bogan TV only lets you watch shows like A Current Affair, Today Tonight and Big Brother.

        • I couldn't be stuffed getting up to get the remote controller (removed from my proximity by a 4 year-old little person) after the news finished on Channel Nine tonight, so I was a captive viewer of the first story on A Current Affair. I could have sworn that the last time I was similarly stuffed was months ago, and it was virtually the same story about road rage.

      • Also known as the Baby Bonus Big TV.

  • +1

This won't work in Australia as the tuner isn't DVB-T. So it's an expensive monitor with no warranty.

Better off with this, cheaper too. http://mobile.jbhifi.com.au/tv-lcd-led-plasma/soniq/40-inch-…

    • And? Aren't most TVs just expensive monitors? Who actually uses the in-built tuner when you can just use Foxtel's HD IQ?

      • who actually uses foxtel when you can use unblockus to access the free US channels apps (Samsung, sony, etc TVs) that foxtel charge you a fortune to watch? Plus you can subscribe to hulu & Netflix for $8/mth each, which is still cheaper then foxtel.

        • Er, because Foxtel provides all local Australian stations as well. Besides, you are only supporting my argument here. Like I said, why is the lack of a DTV tuner even an issue?

        • @BlitzR… I cannot agree with you more. I have a cheap Roku Box and Netflix + Hulu Subscription, tons of high quality content from US is available to watch. I use SmartyDNS. Works perfectly.

        • that's right, go and pay $100+/mth to get a foxtel digital iq box, so you can also get the free to air dtv channels (which is shit channels including the home shopping crap). my reasoning is that for approx, $21USD/mth I can get more then what foxtel gives you.

        • I stopped paying $100+ a long time ago. Got rid of all the crappy 'packages' and switched over to Telstra for the 10% discount. Down to $44.10 a month now.
