    • Yes, you can only make 4 pledges under projects…

  • Thanks OP ! made the pledge - got the email but lets see if I get one :-)

    Edit : My pledge # is 1402. Looks like I'm in :-)

  • I keep getting 504 - Gateway Timeout

    • Same. And then I stumble across a message that I have made the maximum amount of pledges made despite putting in no details. I am confused.

      • try restarting transaction …..

        peace.

    • just keep hitting reload and it loads eventually

  • +4

I pledged to buy some Pledge, and it worked…

  • Started the process, now get the dreaded gateway timeout message. Hope I got far enough to receive the gift card! :)

  • 1378

  • maximum pledges made….:( dayum.

"Your profile is full to the brim with pledges! You can still increase your chances of winning a $500 gift card by sharing your projects, because every vote counts."

    • I think that message just indicates that you successfully added your pledge, and you can't add more than 1 to your profile.

      • and you can't add more than 1 to your profile.

        I've got 4 in mine…

  • Was timing out before even posted on OzB

  • +1

"Maximum Pledges Made" - meaning this deal expired?

  • if only their website server is as good as ozbargain site =)

  • 1707 That took ages to get through.

  • 1731.

  • +4

Just letting everyone know we're still working on the servers. Congrats to those of you who made pledges, looking forward to your projects!

    • +1

      looking forward to your projects!

I'm going to build one of these if I can find all the parts at Masters…

  • Finally got one a few minutes ago with great difficulty, had to keep logging in. Was no. 1309.

  • Where did you find the project number?

    • Ahh never mind, I got mine through at 11:56am and am 1701

  • Project 1909. Hurry up folks!

  • oh no - "Maximum Pledges Made" is what im getting

  • 1999 and gone

  • +1

    All over… 2040+

  • 1873

  • Done. Thanks Masters and OP. I pledge to have my patience tested more regularly. ;)

  • +3

I'm 2032, but still got the "Watch to post for your giftcard" email.

    • As did my mate at 2300 odd.

      • Sure… your "mate"…

        • Heh, I got mine around 1600 odd.

  • +3

Clearly their website is built by the same crowd that did Myer website.

    • +1

yeah but at least Masters IT staff are efficient when it comes to fixing issues; I'll take 20 minutes of wasted time over the week it took Myer to sort their bs site out (and it's still pretty glitchy now)

  • Can't seem to log in to check if my pledges were accepted. :(
EDIT: "You don't have any projects yet" ;(

  • same here, getting 504 - Gateway Timeout

  • 1211

  • pity bunnings is not as generous as masters

  • Getting a lot of errors.

    • -1

We all learn from our mistakes.

  • I got a project in - 2420 unfortunately. The first 2000 are gone.

    • Interestingly, if you change the pledge number on the end of the URL, you can see other people's pledges. Not all the numbers seem to be used below 2000. I'm not sure if that's just an issue related to the pressure on the system now or if they really are skipping numbers.

    • not necessarily. as per other posts above, because of the server timeouts, most people will have submitted several copies of the same project unintentionally as they did not know a submission had been successful. the promotion suggests the first 2,000 people to submit will get a gift card, rather than the first 2,000 projects

  • Where do you find out your pledge number?

  • +1

oh wells back to the cricket

  • Just got a watch for $20 email also, so there must be some still.

  • Dont worry if its more than 2000(i presume). I got three numbers and three emails for the same account. Many of the first 2000 would have done what I did, multiple tabs.

  • Do we need to upload photo as well? I got the $20 email already.

    • Do we need to upload photo as well?

      Nothing too raunchy though…

      Post it here too…

    • Hmmm where do you guys get the Pledge #?

Edited: Nevermind, it's 2579. Let's see if the card would come through.

      • it's in your project URL, see jobler's comment above

  • Pledge 2806 finally and still got the $20 gift card email… Let's see how generous they're feeling :)

    • same here 3067 and still saw $20 gift card email

  • Last year's pledge..I put up a solar security light. This year's pledge…get the home office (aka: Mission Impossible) up and running, eeek!

  • Website errors. No luck for me :(

  • oh wombats…i kept hitting F5 and now i've got 3 "Thanks for your pledge" emails :\

edit: now it's 4 of those emails!

  • how long does it take for vocher email to reach, i got 2 emails- 1 for registration and 1 for making the pledge, but no voucher email yet.

    • I think you have to watch the POST.

    • It is a line in your "Thanks for your pledge" email.

  • FINALLY! #3588. Also got "Don’t forget to watch the post for your $20 Gift Card." in email.

  • my project numbers are 3000+
but still received an email about look out for the $20 giftcard - would that be right, store rep?

    • Thanks for letting us know, melty. If you were one of the first 2000 to pledge, that would be right. We will check the project #s.

  • I pledged a few mins ago and got the $20 in post email.

  • 4087 and still received an email with reference to the $20 gift card. Will wait and see what happens :)

  • Officially expired now. Now how do you log in to upload photos, etc?

  • Got pledge 4165 and also got the email to watch for my $20 gift card.

  • I received the giftcard email 15mins ago as well but now I couldn't log in to my 'project' or my masters account. I think it's deleted.

    • You need to click on the link in the email to access your project, not log in from the website.

      • Thanks it's working now.

  • Everyone gets the same email even if they aren't in the first 2000. DUMB!
Now Masters will need to weed out the dupes due to the web errors. I have 2 projects the same, how many others will there be?

  • +1

Hi everyone, we've taken the site down for the time being, which is why your link may not work. We hope it'll be back up later today. Good luck with your projects!

  • Huh? I gave up a while back after a few tries due to the server timeout error but got an email that my pledge got through. I checked the link and it was #915. Now, let's see if the $20 voucher comes.

  • Able to register and add a pledge but says "entry incomplete" , what else am i supposed to do ??

  • Rep can you confirm whether or not the project number in the URL being in the top 2000 means you qualify for the $20 voucher?

  • +2

I'm actually registered with masters an got the original email but four some reason my login and password did not work so I ended up registering a new email address. Not sure why it was not linked (ie pledge site to Masters database) but I thought I'd mention that. I think the same thing happened last year.

I'm a regular to both Masters and Bunnings (weekly) and I think that Masters has the stronger marketing and customer focused presence which is why I was a bit surprised by my login not working. Bunnings has almost zero customer loyalty or tracking, their gift card practice is laughable (ie you have a $20 gift card and buy a $0.35 widget, you will have to purchase a $10 gift card and get $9.65 in change). It's is great if you want to cash out a gift card you got as a present though. :-)

Curious to see what they do with the gift cards for people above 2000. To be honest, I do not think people would not think to look at the URL to see their number so the expectation for everyone who got the email would be to get a gift card.

    Regards
    Daniel

    • Same - got the email, but had to reregister - but even weirder, used the same email address at the pledging page, and was able to set it up no problems.

Now to get started growing my weed, sorry weeds, sorry officer I thought they were tomato plants.

  • I just went out for a long lunch break and the next thing I knew, the deal was already over :(
What kind of sorcery is this? How did this deal get OZbargained so quick??

    • Snooze?
      Please check entry under "lose"
EDIT: Actually maybe not (see the post below if you are lightning quick)

  • Masters posted ~50 minutes ago via their Facebook that there 'are some giftcards left'. This was after they got their site back and running.

  • anyone able to upload before and after photos ??

  • +7
  • +3

Ok from their Facebook Page: "Check your email, you should have an email from Masters Pledge called "Thanks for your pledge" which will say whether you should watch the post for your $20 Masters Gift Card. We'll be mailing them out mid next week! (terms & conditions apply, of course)."

  • Noooooo…

  • I have no idea what I've signed up for, but fingers crossed I get a voucher!

  • I submitted my pledge earlier this morning and got a pledge number in the 1300's but the email I received did not mention the $20 Gift Card. How peculiar.

Edit: Even more bizarre - the plain text version of my email does not contain the advice to look out for the gift card, but converting it to HTML mode shows that text.

This is almost half a million dollars won't they be losing money?
Anyway just made a pledge, how do we receive the gift ard by mail?

    • +1

Anyway just made a pledge, how do we receive the gift ard by mail?

The process which they will undertake:

      • Retrieve the postal details entered during registration
      • Print postage labels or directly on envelope
      • Insert gift card into the envelope
      • Organise for the postal service (e.g. Australian Post) to pickup the envelope
      • <Transit>
      • Envelop gets delivered by your local postie.

Though the above process doesn't cover any 'alternate flows' (or scenarios), such as when the mail gets lost or misaddressed.

      Hope this helps!

      • +2

I think you're missing a step where a small dog barks at the postie?

    • In what universe is ($2000x20) + ($500x5) = nearly $500,000?

Cant tell if serious or trolling…

      • Converted to a different currency?

      • They earn that much in a day all over Australia, so its just Peanuts and comes out of marketing budget. Even a new TV ad along with spots costs more than a Million $.

        • +1

They earn that much in a day all over Australia, so its just Peanuts

I read somewhere that the Masters business made a $150 million loss last financial year and they don't expect to make a profit for another 2 years… where are you getting your figures from?

  • -5

pledges should be based on merit, and $20 handed out to top 2000 actual projects.
Handing out 2000x$20 is largely a waste of money when 75% won't buy anything from Masters towards a real project.

    I have lots of half-finished projects, so I didn't think I'd get a decent 'before' photo :(

    • There are 5 x $500 vouchers handed out on merit.
