LG G2 32 GB White Mobile Phone $570 LG-D802T from JB Hi Fi

150

I bought a LG G2 32Gb phone on 4/01/14 from Jb Hifi Eastgardens for $570. The listed price is $638. All I did was ask the store rep for the best price. He said $580 , I said $570, sold. The phone is the LG-D802T model and it comes with a free non genuine phone case in the box with a quick window. I uploaded a receipt so ozbargainers can try and get cheaper elsewhere. Good luck.

  • it's a really good phone in general, just don't like the 'noise' when press on the plastic back, put with the flipcase on, all good. this price is awesome :)

    • I dont have any such noise on mine… You must have been pressing pretty hard!

  • I changed to this phone. Great phone, 2GB ram. Downside is no external memory slot for MicroSD card. Crappy earphones that come with it, but hardware on the phone (snapdragon processor) is almost the best on the market at the moment.

  • Undoubtedly a great phone with an astounding battery life. If you stocked up on the $30 e gift cards… Oh boy.

  • hmmm why not the Sony Z1 for 30$ more . just got that today
    waterproof + 20 MP camera

    • +1

…because of the waterproof features in Z1. The viewing angle of the display is limited…

Also, G2 comes with IR blaster which can be used as tv/receiver/air conditioner remote control with an included android app

      • +10

Ah okay i guess to each and their own.
        I rather waterproofing > IR
And viewing angles i've heard about that in reviews, but IRL ive checked it side-by-side, its not a huge concern since i dont view my phone from an angle.

        • +2

Yea I don't understand the whole fuss about bad viewing angles.
How often do you view your phone from angles?!?!

        • +1

Yeah I could live without the IR blaster, its more a sales gimmick.

        • Not to mention, the limited viewing angle is actually a feature for privacy. The water proofing isn't backed by warranty though so do it at your own risk.

        • Exactly what I've been thinking, how often do you look at your phone from an angle? 99.99% of the time it's directly in front.

        • +1

Agreed. I have a Z1, though I think waterproofing is a gimmick too, water has never come close to my phones. Good for a fun party trick though =]

        • In which case the s4 active fits the bill. Waterproof with great screen and IR blaster. Cheap too at $479 grey. Oh, and microsd too.

    • Is it genuine australian stock and from which seller did u buy it?

      • Cmon.. In the first sentence it says "I bought a LG G2 32Gb phone on 4/01/14 from JB HIFI Eastgardens for $570". JB HIFI only sell Aus stock.

        • He's replying to the Z1 for $30 more….

        • +1

My friend I meant to sony Xperia z1

        • PCcasegear.com.au
and yes ive phoned them and checked its aussie stock with ABN
          since im going to TRS

      • sorry accidentally neg, supposed to be +1

  • Genuine question:

Can anyobody tell me if it's worth paying an extra $120 instead of nexus 5, specs seem similar apart from the camera.

Nexus 5 is 449 from Google Play, LG G2 is 562 from Kogan

    http://www.knowyourmobile.com/lg/lg-g2/21369/lg-g2-review-lg…

    • +1

It depends, if you want things like better battery, better camera, bigger screen etc. Many thinks it worth the extra for the improvement in those aspects.

Downside to the LG could be future updates.

      • The biggest draw card for me was the battery.

No microsd is annoying as i am having to constantly replace videos. But it does support utb otg so i use that.

        • Agreed. Pretty much chose this phone because of the 3000mah battery. But it's an amazing phone either way. Really happy with it.

In my honest blunt opinion, no one should even consider the G2.

Nexus 5 will have the latest updates and pretty much guaranteed to get the next BIG android update (which is 5.0), has wireless charging, and it's cheaper.

The white version is super sexy, and doesn't attract any fingerprints on the back. The black is good too, but, yeah, not for me, way too plain. Kogan have a wireless charger for $19 delivered which I have been using and it works great!

      • I agree. I currently have the Optimus G and while its a great phone, no word at all of update to kit kat. LG are just way too slow on this front.

      • +4

        I disagree completely.

The only advantage of the nexus 5 is the updates. Does anyone really need the latest updates? Hell, I don't even know what they change on my n4 and n7. Would I give that away for double the SOT, superior camera and knock on features. And if you're that inclined, you can also get custom roms. Wireless charging as it currently stands, is a gimmick, almost twice as slow compared to micro USB.

What other reasons do you have?

        • I tend to agree when it comes to updates now that its not something that'll sway me towards a nexus device. The main selling point for nexus devices is bang for buck. Android has matured enough now that updates tend to not bring major changes or major improvements. I also think the current flagship models will fair better than previous gens when it comes to updates, just judging by how fast the flagships phones have managed to receive kitkat for instance.

Nexus is not necessarily superior phone than G2 in every front.

The reported battery life was a huge disappointment for me seeing that its cousin G2 is amazing in terms of battery life.

If you care about camera and battery life, you might have to go with G2. It all depends on consumer's preference. Everyone should consider what they care about in their phones, not which phone is best.

      • OS updates isn't the reason you chose the N5 over the G2. I see the price as the only reason to go with the N5.

The G2 is superior in every other way.

How do you guys find the weird button placement?, I tried a demo stock, and don't really like it, but that was after 3 minutes of playing with the demo. I could get use to it, so I'm interested in opinions.

    • No problem at all. It's a more ergonomic experience and I love it. It's also much easier to take photos with when using one hand (e.g. selfies), as the down button is set to take a pic. If you have a phone on a flat surface and don't want to lift the phone to turn on display, you can also use double-tap on screen.

    • I don't find the button placement difficult to use at all…

and double-tap to wake phone feature is nice, but one of my friends find it too sensitive at times.

    • I love it. Just realised that I can take screenshot by pressing volume and power button at the same time!

    • I got used to it pretty quickly, but I tend to use the double-tap a lot more to lock/unlock

LG should invest in focus groups or fire their existing ones, because whoever came up with the button combo was hiiiiiiigh as a kite.

    • +2

Have you tried it? After using it, I actually prefer it over side buttons.

  • +1

It's a great phone - super quick, great camera (but not so great in low light, despite the Image stabilisation) nice screen colour and brightness and looks great imo.
Knock on feature is awesome, but occasionally doesn't work. I found tapping a little slower seems to work more consistently.
The universal remote is also awesome!! I use it to control my Mac and speakers. You can also teach it IR signals from less popular brands - I have set it as a remote for my canon camera.

One downside is that it is far too fragile. I accidentally dropped it from about a metre high and the screen cracked, making it unusable. I have dropped my iPhone 4 a couple of times, but the screen has never cracked. I've also seen many iPhones with cracked screen out there, and they still continue to function.

So my suggestion is get a good case (I read some instance where the phone has still been damaged with the LG case) or be really careful. lol I'm not a case person myself - adds too much bulk!

Fortunately I have 28 Deg credit card with the 6 months insurance, so getting that repaired for free. :)

    • 28 Degrees insurance covers for accidental damage like that?!

      • Yep :) And didn't take too long for the claim to be accepted.

        • +1

          I'm very impressed…
Obviously you would have had to fill in a claim form, but how did they "check" that your phone was actually damaged?

        • +1

Simple online form. didn't even have to submit a picture. I just had to get a quote from an authorised repairer - called up LG and asked how much to replace screen and back cover, then they sent me the quote which i forwarded on. Obviously you need to provide proof of purchase.

It's definitely worth getting. If you pay off your card in full, before the billing cycle, you don't even have to pay, otherwise i think it's 1.5% of whatever you're owing.

It's also has 6 months of price protection

        • Not that I'm a rep, or anything! Lol

        • +1

Nah I know about the feature and the product and all.
I have it on both Coles MC & 28 Degrees. I'm just amazed that it covered for a smashed screen.

The price protection on Coles MC (which is also run by GE Money just like 28 Degrees) is 2 years so you get an extra 18 months though :)

And I also do the whole pay before your statement gets released! Anyway thanks for that. I will definitely keep that in mind!

        • Two yearrrrs!!!?? That's awesome!!! will have t look into that
