The 8,400mAh capacity also available, which supports iPad charging and is $57 (still cheaper than most trust-worthy brands on the market) http://stationery.auspost.com.au/verbatim-dual-usb-power-pac…
UPDATED: only the $57 model (which is 8,400mAh) supports 2.1amps output for charging your iPads, cheers

The larger pack is $59 on ebay- so no bargain on that one. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Verbatim-Dual-USB-Power-Pack-Char…

$2 cheaper and local warranty, no bargain for a worry-free product rather than an eBay one that might cause heaps of hassle for just warranty? sounds like you are trying to promote the eBay stock for someone ;)? sorry if I am wrong, I just assume ;). HarveyNorman has it for even $89.95

Good point I didn't consider the warranty issue. Gosh ozbargain is cut-throat nowadays!

I posted two models, it's up to you to choose, you can go with the 'cheap' one which is $33 only or the 'expensive' one which is $57 and for sure supports your request of 2.1amps output need ;)

          I posted two models

urgh confusing, you might want to update both the title to indicate both and update the description with clearly marked links to both

        • +1

          thnx, doing now

        • +1

max output is 2.1A for the $57 model

      Output (USB): 5VDC, 2.1 Max

edit: oh damn. to slow while i was looking at info on it….

      • as above, looks like a different product.

        • well, why not you head down to one of the Post's office to have a look, pay for it, test it and return/refund if it does not suit your need jv ;). Post Updated

        • you can return used items to post office?

        • +3

why not you head down to one of the Post's office to have a look

because it's not worth the trip if it's only 1A…

you posted the deal, you should provide the info…

        • you can return used items to post office?

          only if they are faulty…

        • I don't see why you cannot, you can also ask the person who sells the item for you that if it is not working as described (max output 2.1A for the $57 model) then you can return it. But as you already know that only $57 model supports iPads charging, hence you can save your time by buying the one that suits you most

        • well, even with Verbatim's official website says that the $57 model supports max 2.1A output plus Australia Post's website also says so, I really cannot understand why you still ask such a repeated non-sense question?

        • -1

you still ask such a repeated non-sense question?

I asked because your post didn't specify the current output, and neither did the link you provided.
(I also only asked once, I did not repeat the question)

The original product you had in the title (which you have since changed) obviously does not support iPad charging, thanks to the link provided by geek001 and no thanks to you.

        • I do not need any mercy from you jv ;) thanks but no thanks. If asking all about the 2.1A matter on all of your questions is not repeated => I am blind if this is not repeated ~_~

        • Since the post has been updated with the relevent info, let's move on.

          I agree

        • …only $57 model supports iPads charging…

iPads will charge off 1A supplies, just slowly. 1A is enough to keep it running, and would be sufficient for an emergency power supply to extend the use of an otherwise depleted device. Apart from having a higher capacity and longer run-time, I don't think you would buy the bigger one for the purpose of recharging an iPad. I don't see anyone wanting to discharge a powerbank battery in order to charge an iPad, then have to recharge the powerbank. Extending runtime is a different situation.

        • thanks for this useful tip

        • I use these packs to recharge devices when I'm out and about as I don't really like using devices that are tethered to a charger.

e.g. when the tablet is low on power, I'll plug it into the battery and leave the whole thing in my bag. The next time I take it out, it would have recharged a bit.

People who want to do the above would benefit from a higher-output charger, like the $57 one. Those who don't mind using their device tethered to a battery pack would be OK with the lower-output one.

With either device, having a good-quality charging cable is important too. A thin one will limit the amount of current that can be delivered.

Also, I think some people here have been spoonfed too much!

        • -1

The OP does not have to spoon feed you, its your job also to do abit of research!

        • -1

          thank you ;)

What makes you think all the questions asked are for the OP ?

Quite often the questions and answers made by other members in these threads are a lot more useful than the deal that is posted…

          Maybe this:

    • Heres the link for 3,500 mAh. Does "Output (USB): 5VDC, 1A Max"

      http://www.verbatim.com.au/en_AU/products/accessories/power-…

An alternative - I got this a month or so back for USD$49 + USD$10 (which work out to be $68AUD at the time) which has a stated capacity of 15,000 (based on reviews, has an acceptable variance on this capacity).

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/Anker-E5-15000mAh-External-Battery-C…

    • Do they ship to Australia if you just contact them to ask?

      • I've bought from Anker Direct before. I had to contact them to get a shipping quote which was US$18 for their 20,000mAh pack for a total of US$107.99.

  • Temporarily out of stock for a few WA post codes I tried, 6150, 6163, 6000 and 6004

This battery/power pack is extremely useful when you travel a lot (specially overseas).

Just a comparison, I got 6000mA (different brand), it can fully recharge 2-3 iPhones (from empty battery). It also can recharge iPad with 1A output (slow recharge) with no issue.

  • How long Will these things hold charge for?
I wouldn't mind one to stick in my bag for emergencies but it would be useless if it was flat when I went to use it.

    • being li-ion they should hold their charge for "quite a while".

Heat will degrade them though, so you wouldn't want to leave them in a hot car for example.

      • And if you travel to Winnipeg, Canada now adays, don't leave them in a freezing cold car. :)
