JW-X48D2-EX M/Board, DDR2, 2 x PCIe x16, 3 x PCIe x1, 2 x PCI, 2x Gigabit LAN, Audio

13

This board is the last of it's kind.

If you have an existing Socket 775 Intel processor with existing DDR2 and want a motherboard upgrade, this is the board for you.

I was always contemplating between P45 and X48 chipsets, because the X48 don't have ICH10.

Well with this board, you can have your cake and eat it too.

ERRATA: The board uses ICH9R, got ahead of myself there :(

I just ordered it, but I'm sure it will blow away my now old P35 motherboard.

2 x Gigabit LAN ports is crazy, and the 2 x eSATA is going to be useful for me.

Most importantly it trumps the P45 for graphic capabilities with it's x16/x16 PCI-E slots, which is only useful if you are running 2 x High-End cards.

A true server class board for the consumers and a fantastic end for the X48 chipset.

AnyPC is the only store that sells it for the moment, but it's quite rare in other countries.

Besides DFI X48 DDR2 boards being around the same price, this board is new as it came out around October 2008 so the BIOS is pretty mature.

Plus for those that hate the overly complicated workings of the DFI boards, this uses a simpler approach.

Essentially, it's an enthusiast grade board.

  • "2 weeks warranty"

    No thanks!

  • +1

This board doesn't have ICH10 either..

How is this a "true server class board"???

Also, 2 week warranty = for the fail.

    • Sorry about stating that it's ICH10 guys, but it's not a huge minus.

Checking up on the 2 week warranty guys, just shot an email off.

      How is it server class?

2 x PCI-E (x16) slots for Mega Fast RAID cards
      2 x Gigbit LAN ports
      2 x e-SATA
      6 x SATA
      Dual-Boot BIOS

Still looks promising compared to other manufacturers.

      • Might want to look at what a server mother board actually is because 2x Gigabit and e-Sata ect are not the sort of features that make it a server board. Two gigabit ports isn't uncommon at all, nor is 2x PCI-E

  • Where are the free steak knives?

  • expensive…

    • How is it expensive?

  • Does it support dual redundant power supplies?? Sorry NOT a server board.

  • That's cheap for an X48 mobo, but it is a no name brand after all. Also, server board would be one that takes Xeons and ECC memory.

As for that tweaktown review, it must be amateur hour over there. They marked a mobo down due to no artwork on the box? Talk about a hard hitting review!!
