how do you get free shipping

    • yes please explain membership with free shipping

      • not really free it was a offer [trial] pay about $80 and get free shipping from cotd and grocery run for 12mths . excludes bulky items

    • looks like there is no free shipping….

  • +4

Eyes lit up at that price.. until I saw the shipping. Still a good deal, but not an impulse buy since I have so many of them already.

  • I bought some since I've been meaning to get some anyway and haven't bought any so far. $17 for 8 is still a pretty good price.

Didn't bother pushing for the free shipping bit either.

  • +3

sucks with limit 1 per customer
really could use 4x 8 packs to colour match in devices

  • If you buy another item, the postage doesn't suck as much!!!!

    • yeah that's the problem…finding something else worth buying. the varta vman power pack i wanted was sold out :\

  • added a turo 1TB drive for $59 :)

    thanks OP

was gonna get the duracell…. then realised I was getting the enelooops

  • +1

    $8.87 s/h to perth

  • -2

Great price but shipping kills any deal. :(

    • -3

      Unless it's free of course!

      • +1

Negged for saying shipping doesent kill a deal when free? Lol

        • +1

i can only guess that paying $79 membership to get the free shipping isn't all that free.

          but who knows/who cares eh!

        • +1

I wasn't talking about Catch of the Day, I was talking about deals in general.

  • Shipping is a bit steep but still not a bad deal.

  • At least these ones are the nice glitter ones, not those boring looking tones they had out earlier.

    • +1

Do people actually care what colour/"tone" their batteries are? :P

      • +4

i don't but colour-coding batteries can be useful to some

      • Do people actually care what colour/"tone" their batteries are? :P

Yes some do. Similar to clothing, cars, etc. Plus people collect all kinds of things too. Colour (and different design) breaks up the sameness of the standard white eneloops and can help differentiate batteries better.

  • Another 8 to the collection.

  • Are these of the new revision that have 1,500 charge/recharge cycles?

    • Also would like to know - also are these the same quality as the ones dick smith have on sale 50% off also? For $20? If so I will get one of these as they are the same price.

    • Seems that these COTD eneloops are an older revision, can anyone confirm as the first post on a previous COTD sale seems to say so…… https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/126161

      • They're the previous generation to the Tones that Dick Smith has been having on sale recently

        • And actual difference being ?

        • 1800 charge cycles for the Tones, 1500 for the Glitter

        • +2

Better off getting the currently 3rd gen (Uomo/Rouge Tones) until 4th gen (Glamor) is available here to AU, unless you want to collect all the pretty colours…

FYI, also first gen to be rebranded to Panasonic Eneloop & will have charge cycles increased to 2100 (up from 1800 of Uomo/Rouge).

    • The description says:

Pre-charged & ready to use | Can be recharged up to 1500 times

  • Finally hopped aboard the eneloop train! I thought this was a good use of $20 store credit for their v.me fail sale they had a while back :) Anything I should know about maintenance/ use of these batteries? Can I use any battery charger for them?

    • +1

Can I use any battery charger for them?

Yes and no. Any charger will charge them, the problem is that you want the charger to stop when the batteries are full. Overcharging batteries will shorten the number of charge cycles you get from the batteries, sometimes dramatically. So-called "one-hour" chargers are definitely bad for batteries, avoid if possible.

If you're only going to use these batteries in remote controls or similar, and only charge them about once a year, then any charger will do. You'll probably get at least 20 years out of them (=20 charges). When charging, check every battery every 15 minutes or so. If a battery is so hot that you can't hold your finger against it for at least 10 seconds, it is charged, remove it from the charger.

If you want to use the batteries properly, you'll need a smart charger, and it will cost roughly between $45 and $80. Good brands are LaCrosse (sold by Amazon with US power plug, hard to find locally) and Maha Powerex, particularly the MH-C9000 (try online camera stores).

Note that the chargers that you see in Coles and Woolworths that say "smart charger" typically aren't smart at all. A true smart charger will say "dV/dT cutoff" or "temperature sensing" or both. If a charger only says "timer cutoff" then it's not a smart charger.

      • This was the response to the same question I asked. Good deals on smart chargers out there.

        https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/129130

        • Definitely interested in that fasttech panasonic charger, cheers for the link! I'll look around for an MH-C9000 and see what I can find first.

The Panasonic BQ392 looks to be good, and you can't beat the price at US$12.15 with free worldwide shipping.
          http://www.fasttech.com/products/1421/10001890/1136300-authe…

The BQ392 is better than the BQ391 for two reasons: (1) it is in stock, and (2) you probably already have a mains lead that will fit, so no need for a US-AU adaptor plug.

If you're going to get one, better be quick. According to this page, they have been discontinued:
          http://australia.rs-online.com/web/p/battery-chargers-aaa-aa…
There is a datasheet (of sorts) on that page too.

        • Didn't fasttech stall shipping to AU back in Oct-Nov '13 due to the HKpost lithium battery postage issue? So they have resumed shipping to AU now?

I held off buying because of this.

        • They started re-shipping lithiums quite a while back (via Malaysia Post).
There have never been any issues as regards other items.

        • Thanks for info. Cheers!
          Will grab one now.

        • Decent price for what seems to be a decent product, music to my ears. Anyone thinking of buying, use the coupon code BLF at checkout to get 5% off, it's not much but I used the money to opt for registered air mail shipping rather than standard air mail!

        • Code didn't work (inputting in 'Apply a Gift Certificate' box). Are they account specific?

        • Click on view cart before you check out, and there should be a "Have a coupon code?" link that you click on (just under where it says shipping date on the right hand side). Click on it and enter "BLF"! I think it works on batteries, their accessories and flashlights only.

        • Ah, worked. Thanks. So I was putting it in the wrong stage of checkout.

      • Thank you for the informative post!

Is there a charger on sale anywhere at the moment?

  • Picked up a pack of these, thanks OP! Also picked up an HP 17bII+ calculator for $22 for any old school RPN fans out there, stunning price.

  • Guys…given the postage I would not buy these eneloops.

The reason is they are now old, and I guess they are clearing it out.

These will cost between $7 - 18 delivered.

Wait till the next Rouge or Uomo deal which was between $20 - $21.50 for an 8 pack which is newer.

  • Is the shipping sign on delivery??

    • +1

      no just regular e-parcel

  • -1

If they're the previous generation compare to the one Dicksmith have, it would be 2 generations old compare to the latest?
Will these be like 3 years old on the shelf, hence only can hold 75% charge even it's new and not been used before ?

    • +1

I think it means, on full charge… after 3 years is only discharge 25%. It doesn't refer to how much charge it can hold after recharge.

i.e. After 3 years on the shelf, you can pull it out and use it without recharging it first (with 75% charged). Then recharge it back to 100% after use.

  • +1

If they change to maximum 2 per customer, then I will buy … why only limit to just one ??

    • To stop people buying and reselling. I don't see anything wrong with this deal especially for the OzBargain uninitiated. It just not up to "professional" standards that exist on this site.

club catch which cost $79 to join

Now, I realise that I've had a few beers, but is anybody else more than mildly amused by the notion of a COTD paid membership???

    • +5

You become their catch of the day. :)

    • +6

they're counting on people to have had a few beers to be sold on paying for COTD membership ;)

      • +2

That might take more than a few! ;)

    • club catch which cost $79 to join

      Where's the catch?

  • Sold out

    • If you specifically want these colours, they come back once in awhile when they source more stock.
