its similar to previous deals of AMEX but this time at Target, in-store or online at target.com.au

      i reckon the vendor pays amex x% of transactions… lets say 3%

      amex says hey how about u fund a promo for us, $10 off $50 purchases, we'll cut that rate to 2.9% for a month.

      or something.

    Just purchased a $50 Coles Group & Myer gift card from Target (yes it can be used at Coles Express) and immediately received the following email from AMEX:

    Dear Cardmember,

    Congratulations! You have completed all the qualifying transactions on your registered Card ending in XXXXX.

    Your $20 credit back for spending over $50 at Liquorland will be issued to your registered Card account.

      That doesn't add up. You spent $50 at Target but got an email telling you you're getting $20 back because of spending over $50 at Liquorland?

      I received the same email… spent $$ at Target.
      Waiting to see what happens re: statement credit… before I go over to Liquorland to buy a CM giftcard.

      Edit: I think the person who prepared the notification email just copied and pasted the email from the Liquorland deal and mucked it up by not changing the details.

      Haha I thought it was just me. Today I bought a $50 gc from liquor land and another $50 gc from target but received 2 emails re spending over $50 at liquorland.

        Already got my statement credit for Liquorland (very quick) and got my email yesterday within a minute or two of my Target $50 Purchase via amex but email did state correctly it was for the Target offer.

    I signed up for the offer directly from my online banking.

    Just curious (don't wanna get neg'd) but how come this get's so many votes? I mean, you still have to SPEND $50 on stuff in the first place (and I don't see any particular bargain listed at around that price)…

      well obviously you don't just go out blindly and spend $50 to get $10 back. this is for people who actually need to buy something at target and the $10 is a bonus.

      also, you can buy a $50 gift card to qualify for the cashback, which you can then use at coles myer group stores.

      $10 isn't much, but if you were going to spend $50 anyway at target/coles this is clearly a great deal

      Some just want to buy the giftcards from Target to buy fuel @ coles express i.e. 20% off fuel is quite good imo. Yeah but 394+ votes seems really unusually high.

        Coles Express is expensive I noticed. Even with fuel discount voucher they are still more expensive than other places. Is their fuel better, or just overpriced?

      I think by now many have made sure they have their supplementary cards issued as well.
      If someone has 4 cards they could,
      Buy $200 coles/myer cards for $160, save on fuel/groceries which are usually fixed expenditure.
      If can get $200/$150 gift cards also an option to use them to buy a pre-paid visa at Coles.

    Just as an FYI, I just purchased two $50 Coles Myer gift cards at Target (had to get the gift cards at the register as opposed to the gift card stand they had in Camberwell (Vic)) and received my emails from AmEx saying I will get my $10 credited.

    I also got my 2 x $50 Coles Myer gift cards at Liquourland and also received similar emails for my 2x$20 credit.

    The result is spending $140 for $200 worth of Coles Myer Gift cards which I will most likely use at Myer.

    I just love these deals!

      I assume you have two different Amex cards and didn't do it all on the one card?

      I just bought a $50 coles myer gift card at Target and another one at Liquorland and popped over to Coles where I bought effectively $100 worth of groceries for $70.

    Interestingly, I bought a $50 gift card from each of Liquorland and Target on the same day. At the Amex online site, it shows that my Liquorland offer has been redeemed (and I did get the $20 credit) but the status for the Target offer still says "saved to the card" instead of "redeemed with card" (and I haven't got the $10 credit). Anyone else experienced this?

      I bought both the LL and Target offers on the same day. Got emails from both offers, saying i will receive credit.

      Got my $20 LL credit back within a few days.
      Still have not got my Target one.

      I've had the Shop Small offer take over 4 weeks so i expect it may be the same with this Target one for a few people (myself included).

        I got a bank issued AMEX and still haven't got my $10 credit back after spending over $50 at Target on 31st Jan. It has been over 2 weeks since the purchase. Only got an email saying that I completed all the qualifying transactions. But with the Shop Small promotion, I got the credit back within 3 days.

      Definitely per unique card number - however you should have seen a rejection when you tried to register the card for the promotion.
