Same rule: want to get beer with free delivery, add cheap wine

and don't shave for 3 days

i see what you did there …

  • Damn you Dans!! Bought 2 of the 2lt Asahi cans last week when they dropped from $20 to $18. Now they're $10, so i gotta stock up.

It's original jap brew, not an asia brew.

It's original jap brew, not an asia brew.

      last time I looked at a map……

      • Asahi is brewed in china and other asian countries. Its very hard to get the stubbies from japan, even the top Japanese restaurants dont have it.

        • FYI , no , the can is clearly labelled "Product of Japan"…

          Bought some this afternoon.

        • Yes I know silvertone, that's why TZK said what he said. Let's not go in circles!

  • Fully imported Beck's at $39.95 delivered is pretty decent

    http://danmurphys.com.au/product/DM_909065/beck-s-beer-fully…

  • Anyone know if the online price is also available in store?

    • Click and collect, yes.

      • So I can't walk in and get the same price?

  • Added some cheap wine to try and get the Becks delivered, still trying to charge me $14 delivery even though it accepted the code :-(

    • +1

you need to process to very last step before confirmation to get rid of delivery cost

      • edit: Is that after filling out registration details?

      • Ah so it does. Cheers for that. Because I don't have an account I had to keep entering all my details again (which was a pain whenever I changed something in the cart), so just assumed delivery would be taken off at the step where it's inputted!

  • Awesome!
Just bought a couple of Asahi cans (love these!) and a cheap bottle of plonk for the free delivery :)

  • Does Asahi in this 2L can survive WITHOUT living inside the fridge?
Thinking of buying a dozen but dont think the wife would be impressed filling her fridge up with these babies.

Store them away in a cool place is good for them to last over 6 months? (if I haven't got to them by then)

    • Better check the BB date the cans I picked up are marked best before 02/2014

      • +2

I have a feeling those cans were made 12 or more months ago.

Only 7 hours left to drink the beer before it's no longer good :P

      • I can confirm I picked up 4 cans (click & collect) with a best before of 2/14.
Manufacture date appears to be 6/13 so it's been in storage for about 6-7 months
Not sure if the cans were ever refrigerated.
When I picked them up they weren't cold

    • Keeping the beer unrefrigerated is not good.
All imported beer is already stale to some degree.

  • $47.90 for Corona….Cheap???

    • -1
      • -2

Why do you say that? Coronita is cheaper on a per litre basis at $19.90

    • +2

I bought Corona at $29 a couple of months ago with price matching at Dan Murphy's.
Now I'll never pay over $40 for it again. Can't bring myself to do it.

      • +3

I can't bring myself to drink it, let alone pay for it.

        • -1

Lucky for you, the OP is an equal opportunist Ozbargainer and posted Toohey's as well for all the Bogans.

    • -1

$47.90 is expensive for Corona. The Coronita, at $19.90 is much cheaper on a per litre basis.

      • Err, don't think so?
        Case of 12 x 210ml at $20
        Compared to 24 x 255 at $48

  • +3

just a comment on the Asahi 2L cans: at $10 for 2L, it works out to $40 for 8L, which is roughly the same as 24 330ml bottles (7.92L) which costs $45. For the extra $5 seems like its worth it just to get the 24 pack and not have to worry about finishing 2L of beer every time you open the can. (I realise of course that for some of us that's not so much a problem as an advantage though ;) )

But the bottles are brewed in Thailand or the UK.
The 2L cans are brewed in Japan.

      • -1

Actually says they're made in China.

        • I have tried one of those yet.

My order of preference would be:

          1. Japan
          2. Thailand
          3. UK

I'll have to work out where China slots in

        • Damn. I didn't think Jap beer would ever be made in China. Other countries, sure, but not China.

          Asahi, I am disappoint :(

        • No, cans I bought today clearly say "Product of Japan"…

        • yet people go to Chinese restaurants and order QingTao beer

      • Ah you can see the reviews on the bottles are not as good as the Japanese brewed; bottles are from China. I went ahead and ordered the cans. Thanks!

        • +9

          I prefer big cans too.

    • +2

Convenience, decency, personal preference…these things matter not to an Ozbargainer!

      8,000ml @ $39.96 > 7,920ml @ $44.95

      :)

  • click and collect doesn't work for me. need to pay for delivery ..

    • Worked for me. Got the last two from my local.

    • Damn, Hoegaarden is comin up at $56.99 for me.

      • +1

Yeh its gone up since last night. I checked last night and it was 44.90, and now I'm getting $57. Bought 12 Asahi cans last night.

  • can anyone tell me what's the expiry date on the asahi?

Edit - I think someone already said its BB 2/14…

  • +1

I can confirm the delivery code still works. I ordered 3 Asahi cans and a few bottles of cheap wine. It doesn't remove the devliery fee until about step 3 of the check out.

    • Yep, confirmed as well! Bought one of the cans the other day from the store near me and was bummed when I went on Sunday to try and order some more as they were all out.

Ordered 3 more just then with a $2.50 bottle of wine and delivery was taken off. I reported the deal to let the mods knows it's still valid.

  • Presumably this stacks with the 5.25% Cashback from http://www.starthere.com.au/Dan-Murphys
