Windows 7.8 I give it a miss. Windows 8 was a nightmare until the gd3 release.
It's GDR3 and I bet you don't even own a Windows Phone as this is crap
HTC 8X- can't fix screen orientation, freezes after GDR2, just some of the crap dealt with. Can't imagine what 7.8 was like.
Well then it's a HTC issue, I have a Nokia 920 and GDR3 is no more stable than GDR2, was like a rock and still is with GDR3
We've used windows phones for years here at work and still do, 7.8 didn't have all the features of the android or iphone's around (main reason we went with windows and not android or iphones as most features were not business related) but it was stable with hardly any OS issue's and although we had a few issue's with the models of phones (HTC!!) the Nokia's didn't miss a beat the cheaper ones were a bit under-spec'd but this particular phone will run smoothly and do what its meant to do.
Depending on your needs and what you want out of a phone this is a good deal for the very light smartphone users out there.
As some below have mentioned it is def worthwhile looking into the 520 over this … i would agree.
That freezing thing (if it's the same I've seen on my gf's 8X) is because of the Facebook app…as soon as she uninstalled that, no more freezing. Definitely wasn't an OS issue :)

Pay the extra $29 for the 520, it is definitely the much better phone in terms of OS longevity.
I agree.Many WP8 apps dont work under WP7.8.
Definitely consider the 520 which is often had for the same price. Bigger screen, much faster CPU, better battery, microSD expansion and of course, Windows Phone 8 (soon to be 8.1). The 520 only has half the internal storage, lower MP camera and doesn't have a camera flash, though.
Keep an eye out as HN has both the 900 and 850 MHz stock so very network selective
If you wanted a Windows Phone, $149 here seems money wasted.
Its like posting a deal for a ginger bread phone, 7.8 is outdated and no longer supported. Get a 520 if you must, but at 150, this is just too expensive. It might be a deal at 80-100. Remember that for 220 odd you can get a Moto G.
And for $79 at the Post office, a Huawei Y300 (Telstra locked).
the Nokia 625 was just over $200 a couple
