Store - Jesmond NSW 2299

Plenty of stock all colours. Original price $247.

Not sure if nationwide as no longer listed on website so I would guess it's an in store clearance. Hopefully is nationwide - good luck.

  • Original price $247? On day one of release prephaps but now RRP $247 you can get a 3DSXL.

  • I never bought the DSi XL. I sort of wanted the larger model, just to see how it is.
Maybe a call to BigW is what I need to do tomorrow. Thanks.

  • so it took that long for DSi XL's to drop… not looking good to grab a cheap 3DS XL looks like

I got mine for $40 from David Jones in April 2012 as a price match against that Dick Smith sale …

    • Good for you. That was a bit of a one-off sale, don't you think? $100 is a good price for it either way.

For gaming technology that's almost four years old? You can't even play the latest Pokémon game on it as it was only released for the 3DS. The 2DS (which allows you to play 3DS games minus the 3D) is $148 at EB whereas a search shows Big W were selling it for $138 in the past few months.

Oh, if it can't play 3ds games then yeah, I wouldn't buy this. My mistake :)

It may be a good price but at this point in time I'd say its a bad investment unless you are planning to play a limited range of titles and don't expect to be buying anything else over time. A 2DS or any of the 3DS have a lot more life in them.

If you plan to buy more than a few games, then the $50 - $150 difference will be overshadowed by software purchases soon enough.

Nice. I got mine for the same price through DSE.

  • Steel Diver will be free to play from March 2014. Waste of money even at $10.

  • Seems like it's some kind of old model, or old package. The DSiXL shows up as both $248 and $100 on their system.
Brisbane CBD BigW had none of the $100 in stock.

  • I couldn't find any locally, which is a shame since this model has the best speakers and battery life out of all the DS units, apparently.

    • Speakers on the dsixl are better than the 3dsxl?

      • Not sure about the 3DS range. I consider the DS and 3DS range separate entities. I know that out of the DS range (not 3DS), they have the best speakers and best battery life.

I know the first 3DS unit didn't have the battery life of previous DS units (even when playing simpler DS games) so the larger 3DS XL also might not have as much battery life as its XL predecessor (let alone the simpler smaller DS units), but I haven't checked up on that.
