UPDATE 14/02/14 6:11PM: Just a quick update, almost all of the orders placed before 2PM today went out successfully but there were a handful of hiccups. If something went wrong with your order, you will receive an e-mail shortly. Don't worry, we have stock, just an error at dispatch and rest assured your order will be sent out on Monday. I'd like to apologise for the inconvenience.

UPDATE 14/02/14 10:09AM: Hope you're having a heart warming valentine's day! Just update you on what's happening, the response from you guys has been amazing, more than we anticipated! Especially with the Deck Samplers! For all those who ordered one, we hope to unite you with this nifty little trinket soon :)

In the past we would usually include a hard copy of an invoice with every order (the same one which your received electronically when you ordered). However, due to the volume of orders, if your order consisted only of Deck Cherry MX Samplers, we will not be printing a separate hard-copy of the invoice to go with your order. If you require a hard-copy for whatever reason, please don't hesitate to PM me or e-mail us: [email protected]. Please state your order number when doing so.

While we do not anticipate at this stage that there will be any delays in dispatch but due to the sheer number of orders, I'd just like to apologise in advance if there are any hiccups. If you suspect that something has gone awry with your order, please contact us! We try to keep track of all our orders but in busy periods, like this one, sometimes things are missed so a reminder is greatly appreciated!

Lastly, still five hours to go! Happy clicking!

  • Hmm that Cherry sampler looks attractive, so i can finally get a chance to try them out and choose which one i like.

Cheapest shipping is $7 though, can you do it any cheaper?

    • +2

Hey Jorkus, the sampler is kinda tricky, because it's slightly too large to fit in an envelope, let me check with the operational staff.

    • Would also be interested in getting one if shipping was cheaper, like $4 or something.

      • +4

Ok, here's what I can do, I talked my manager into dropping the price of the sampler to $3 for the period of the promotion. He wasn't ecstatic about it but… oh well. :P

        • Thanks Rep, ordering one now.

        • What keys are the samplers bound to? Is it possible to use them as macro/media keys?

        • The samplers are sadly not functional as keys because there is no controller on the sampler board. It is an option which we are exploring, however, it will add $5-10 to the cost (after assembly and QA) so we felt that as a sampler kit, we should just keep it simple for now. You're not the first one to mention this though, we'll definitely be keeping it in mind for the next run of samplers.

        • +2

I didn't even think of that, although it would be awesome.

It would definitely be cool to try out the keys, and actually be able to keep using it through that kind of added functionality.

Mad props to the mechKB rep on this whole thread, very helpful guy.

Nice concept and niche. just a FYI when I entered your store with Bitdefender on,

    "Bitdefender blocked this page
This page is blocked by Bitdefender Antimalware filter."

    Any ergonomic shaped keyboards coming?

Also would recommend using the .au domain extension if you are trading in Aus

    • Hmm, I'm not too sure why that would be happening… we opened a forum recently and it's being spammed a lot, that might be why :( I will pass this on to the technical team, thanks for the heads up!

    • "Dear Roland,

      Thank you for your patience.

      Yay :)

      • That was fast! Nice work to both you and Bitdefender :)

It's good to see a new business. I must admit that the day Mechanical Keyboards got replaced, I jumped on them, so I admit it feels a little strange that people suddenly want to take technological step back. I guess people who can't use PC's go console, people who can't type go mechanical ….. personally I like a hair fine trigger.

PC Case Gear has the Blackwidow Ultimate 2013 at $139 (standard price) plus about $14 for delivery. While I wouldn't Neg your post I can't agree that this current sale is a bargain.

    • Yeah, we were thinking about whether to include the Blackwidow Ultimate or not but eventually they made it onto the list … May be of some use for Sydney-siders who can pick up?

      • Very true. Good niche in the market btw.

      • HVN had Razer Blackwidow Ultimate for $140 a few weeks back, as part of their sale..

  • Can you do any better deals on shipping rep? $12 puts it over a bargain for me. I can pick these up for an extra $3 in QLD.

    • We don't make any money on our shipping, so dropping it lower is difficult but it depends on what you're looking for. PM me?

  • +1

G710+ price is still not as the cheap as the Harvey Norman weekend special price of $117 last year (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/114331); which is the lowest price so far IIRC. DSE have had them for $119 delivered as well.

    • Sadly, we cannot match that price :( , sorry.

  • Good deals, upvote :P

  • Hi Rep,

Click confirm payment via Paypal and it took me to homepage without any confirmation email or message at all.

Could you please double check ?

    Thank you

    • Let me PM you.

      EDIT - you're not accepting PMs :(

    • Or rather, could you PM me? I will need what you were ordering and your dollar total.

      • Never mind, I just ordered another one. It failed the first time. Thank you

        • Yup, I see it (at least, I think that's you :P ). Thanks! :)

+1 from me, the joys of typing on a mech keyboard
3 Mech keyboards and from the looks of things its going to grow.
Althoug it may seem pricey for those who are stuck on a keyboard for most of the day, its a godsend.

grabbed a sampler kit, too cool to pass up
Just glad i wont have to order from overseas for the more obscure boards

  • Hi Rep, what's your pickup times for Saturdays?

    • Hi Nickxau, we don't usually open on Saturdays but we can come to an ad-hoc arrangement if you want to PM me or e-mail our customer service rep ([email protected])?

      • Thanks!

  • I've had great customer service from Mechkb in the past.

Will you be carrying any Cherry Clear keyboards?

    • +1

In the works, no ETA though :( Anything in particular you're interested in?

      • Ahh… nothing in particular, just something with clear keys.

      • +1

Another person interested in clears here! I'm not really after anything in particular, but I have to admit the CODE and FC660M do catch my eye

        • +1

A lot of folks looking for Clears, and Greens but they cost a pretty penny. I'll have to push our purchasing officer to find some leads to chase up…. hmmm…

  • Any possible deals on the Ducky Key Cap set or the MAX Translucent Key Cap set rep ?

    • Hey Bakerboo,

We can take $10 off each? :)

      EDIT: prices updated.

  • Are you guys looking at broadening your keycap selection? I recently got the Vortex Double-Shot caps (very nice btw) but interested in these for another keyboard now :)

    https://fbcdn-sphotos-b-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-prn2/t1/15…

    • We've been looking into blanks for a very long time, since there's always been demand. We have been in contact on and off with TaiHao (aka Clicker) about key caps but we don't have anything firm yet. As soon as we have something firm it will appear on our blog. Sorry I can't be more specific than that :(

  • Which keyboard would you recommend for reducing finger impact and joint pain?

    • Hey twiz911,

It's hard to say exactly which keyboard would be the best since these things are highly subjective. Anecdotal feedback is any keyboard with Cherry MX Reds tend to be good (since they feel the lightest of all the Cherry Switches) but your mileage may vary. If you live nearby our storefront or a storefront where there are mechanical keyboards, your best bet is to try one out there.

If I had to make a recommendation though (and assuming you just wanted something plain), I would recommend the F-104 with Cherry Reds or Cherry Browns.
      http://www.mechkb.com/vortex-ikbc-f-104-mechanical-keyboard

    • I would recommend any red switch keyboard with o-rings fitted underneath.

Do MechKB plan to those wasd orings in the future??

      • We will stocking O-Rings from MAX Keyboards shortly. Hopefully by the end of the month :)

  • I didn't realise Topre has a new KB. How does Type Heaven compare with Realforce?

  • Hmmm, I was considering the Corsair Vengeance K95 for my first mechanical keyboard, but this is a pretty decent price. I grabbed a switch sampler anyway, cheers.

  • i don't know too much about mechanical keyboards, so how come the 'Double Shot PBT' is so much more cheaper than the others? If it has all switch types as well, or is it just a no named brand?

    • Hey Astro551,
Doubleshot PBT is, in fact the highest quality of key cap materials available. PBT keys don't develop discolouration and the lettering is formed via a two piece plastic (hence 'double shot') moulding method, so they won't be worn out.

The reason why the Vortex is cheaper than the other brands is because it's kind-of an experiment on the part of Vortex to see if customers would accept a keyboard built out of good materials but was otherwise very bland (no backlight, macro keys, USB hubs, etc.) They are one of the few manufactures making double-shot PBT so it's in their interest to popularise it :)

  • Which one do you recommend that has dedicate macro keys?
Don't really mind which colour switch.
    Thanks

    • The Logitech is the only sale item with dedicated macro keys, as per the 'macro keys' section on the listings.

      • Not a fan of logitech however, they tend to break down..

    • The Blackwidow series, Logitech G710+, Corasir K95 all have dedicated macro keys. If people ask, we generally recommend the Corsair since it has, in our experience, the best record for longevity of the three. However, it is also the most expensive. I know it may not be a popular opinion around these parts but sometimes you do get what you pay for :P

      • Thanks!
No discount on the Corsair Vengeance K95?
        Its $189 :-(

        • +2

Let me check with my manager. I'm out of the office now though, so you may have to bear with me for a while.

        • +3

"$175, no less!" Heh. It's still expensive I know, I'll adjust it now, hopefully that's enough to peak your interest.

        • +1

          Thanks Rep!

  • Hello all, this is our (MechKB's) first time posting so go gentle on us.

We know, it puts a little learners plate next to your name ;)

  • Dang, I wish you guys had Cherry Red switch KBT ONE keyboards on sale.

    • Sorry! :(

  • Can you do the portal novelty keycaps (2 keycaps) any cheaper? $8 for two keys seems excessive.

    • I'd like to but unfortunately the novelty key caps are limited stock and we don't have many (especially the Portal ones, you just had to pick the most popular set! :P) I might be able to bundle it for cheaper with some other purchase though? PM / e-mail me?

      • Those portal ones don't look square, are they meant to replace the ctrl or alt keys or something?

        • Yeah they are, it says in t he item description.

        • Ahh, so it does. That'll teach me to scroll down.

  • +2

Real nice to see people offering Topre keyboards as well. Big plus to you!

  • interested in these, but can someone explain to me the difference between the KBT Pure Pro and the iKBC Poker II Backlit. they seem to be the exact same keyboard with just a difference in price.

    • +1

      Hello Saieash,

The KBT Pure Pro and the iKBC Poker II have different layouts. You can see the difference by examining closely the pictures on our site. The Pure Pro sacrifices the larger keys to squish in more keys (including the arrow cluster at the bottom right hand corner), where-as the Poker II is a more traditional layout. The Pure Pro can sometimes be harder to type on because people are use to the larger keys (commonly spacebar / shift and backspace) where-as on the Poker II, people miss some of the keys (the arrow cluster is the most common in my experience).

      I hope that helps?

Do you have any specials coming up on Ducky keyboards?
When will you stock Ducky Shine III?

    • Ducky is painful to get hold of stock. We have no current plans to obtain the Shine III although that is subject to change.

  • What time do you guys close tomorrow?
I just realized I live in the area where you are located.

Are there any keyboards there I can test?

EDIT: Don't worry I just found all the info I need under the Promotions and Events tab on your site.

    • Heh. I think we'll be pretty busy packing orders tomorrow though, so if you can drop us a note and let us know what you're interested in and roughly what time you think you'll pop in? That'll be great!

  • I'm not into gaming but I do lot of typing every day and I'm good with my typing speed, just need solid simple full size keyboard, which one do you guys recommend?

Haven't used mechanical keyboard before so don't have much clue.

    • +1

You should definitely do some research - there is a load of knowledge out there. Here is one link http://www.overclock.net/t/491752/mechanical-keyboard-guide

But for typing - usually something with MX Blue

      • +1

thanks for the link. I read below which has good explanation of different keys.

        http://www.mechkb.com/mechanical-keyboards-buying-guide

I think, I'll go for below with blue keys.

        http://www.mechkb.com/vortex-ikbc-f-104-mechanical-keyboard

      • Cherry blue is a good choice unless you are concerned about the clicky noise.

        • +1

I'm buying this for office at my own expense, noise shouldn't issue since even without mechanical keyboards, we have lot of keyboard noise in IT area. :)

        • +1

I'll just add a quick note for the benefit of others who might be thinking along the same vein, if you want something quiet, the Cherry MX Brown is the closest to a Blue and is what we would recommend but the general feedback is that Cherry Blues are much more satisfying to type on than browns. A little stiffer, more pronounced tactile feedback and, of course, that 'click'. So unless you're in a quiet environment or otherwise sensitive to noise, we would recommend Blues for typing.

If you're after one for gaming, then that's a slightly different matter.

  • Is there a wrist rest for the iKBC Poker II? I always like to rest my wrist on one

    • The Poker II does not come with a wristrest. Most standard wristrests are too big for it. A wristrest for compact keyboards might be a good idea though… something we have to look into.

  • Dammit, where were you guys when I was looking for a keyboard to buy :(

    Unfortunately I don't need one now…

    • Hey chid, we plan to be around the next time you need one ;)

  • Hi rep, will you sell any o-ring in future? Will you recommend k70 or G710?
Macro dont matter to me. THanks

    • Get the K70. The Corsair kicks ass!

    • We will be stocking MAX Keyboard O-rings shortly :)

K70s and G710+ are both pretty much on par for us. The G710+ has O-rings pre-installed though, that may sway your purchasing decision?

Also they're on special for the next few hours :P

      • Any plans to get the Corsair K70 in Cherry Blue or Brown? I've been eyeing this one for a while, and i'll prolly grab one once i get my Cherry sampler and decide the keys i want.

        • Hello Jorkus,

Supplies of the K70 in alternate switches are tight and demand is high, We will stock K70 in Brown switches soon but no ETA on the Blue switch…

  • You don't happen to have any stock of the Matias Quiet Pro do you? I've been trying to hunt down Australian stock for ages…

    • No Matias at this stage :(

If we can source it, I'll be sure to update it on our homepage :)

  • Any chance on a deal on Ducky Zero?

  • I am looking for a quality (built to last) mechanical keyboard with backlit keys and no macro.
    Any recommendation?
