I wish they would do free shipping on the Samsung SSD's again :(

    Hi guys,

    Just a heads up:

We are doing "particularly aggressive" on the Sandisk Ultra plus 256GB Model at $165 ($10 lower than MSY and other competitors) + Free shipping on top! So anyone that needed SSD for upgrades/new gadgets please do take opportunity :)

The Faster speed SanDisk Extreme II SSDs have also been heavily marked down for the next few days so that we can lower some inventory for them.

All these SSDs are in stock and high chance of same day dispatch if you order before 2pm.

    Kind Regards
    SE

    • I just ordered a Sandisk Ultra Plus 256GB, is that likely to arrive (PC 3139) before this deal expires? The reason I'm asking is I have a (gen 1 i3) laptop which has been picky about SSDs so I was going to test it with the 256GB (before that goes to it's final home) and then order another.

        Hi CyberGenesys,

The deal is expiring on 26-2-14.
If you order yesterday it should be dispatch today so there is a chance it will arrive tomorrow depending on your location. I will put our estimated delivery guide below:

        Sydney 1-2 business days
        NSW, ACT 1-3 business days
        VIC 2-5 business days
        QLD 2-5 business days
        SA 3-5 business days
        WA 4-6 business days
        NT 4-6 business days
        TAS 3-6 business days

  • currently have a ultra plus 256gb model in my 13" i7 macbook pro, any advice on if i would notice much difference upgrading to a extreme?

    • Unless for benchmarking SSD to SSD upgrades won't have noticeable speed differences

      • Indeed. Until we upgrade to SATA Express SSDs and computers there won't be any significant improvements in speed - the limit for a while has been the SATA 3 interface.

    • +3

If you already have ultra plus, consider upgrading only if you are interested in the 5 year warranty offererd by Extreme II over the 3 years warranty from Ultra Plus

  • Its weird that the larger SSDs tend to have slower write speeds than the 120/240G ones.

But I don't really think I need a huge SSD anyway, I'd rather centralized storage for media files.

  • I keep getting this message when purchasing:

Sorry. We don't have enough 'SDSSDHP-128G-Q25' in stock to fulfill your order. Please change the qty on order in your shopping cart to a lower number and click update. Then try to checkout again.

Am i too late to purchase? I am only wanting 1 of them.

    • Hi coops108,

Fixed up the stock issue. Can you please try again?

      Regards
      SE

Any chance of it being shipped out today?

        • probably not - monday's one of the busiest day for us due to weekend orders so we couldn't extend the cut off time, sorry about that.

      Show us the math…

      • +4

        Uh oh. Just double checked.

        95/128 = 74c/GB
        165/256 = 64c/GB

  • 240 GB $215, Read: 530mb/s | Write: 5100mb/s

    5100mb/s… HOLY ****!!!

  • to rep, does it have 9.5mm adapter?

    • no it does not

  • I'm interested in putting one of these into my Dell Insperion 15R special edition - but I am new to SSD. The laptop already has a SSD, and a bigger old drive. This would be to replace the old drive. But I was only able to install Windows with the recovery disk. If I used my own copy of win 8 or 7, it didn't seem to recognise the SSD. Will I need a driver disk for these, to get Windows installed?

  • Bought the Ultra Plus 256GB from SE late last year. Very satisfied with its performance in my 2010 desktop PC :)

  • +1

Perfect timing, just had a 1TB (dog slow) system drive fail. Time to upgrade :)

Also +1 for ShoppingExpress allowing guest checkouts. I hate how so many websites require you to make an account.

  • SanDisk ultras are good drives, but miss the transfer cable and software for cloning your existing HDD. I would recommend getting these if you want to install the Operating system again on these or if you already have a sata to usb cable.
Otherwise choose SSD which comes with these cables and software. I am not sure about the extremes, but Samsung ones used to come with those.

    • So with a cloning kit would it be relatively painless to go from a WD 300GB raptor system drive to a big enough SSD without having to rebuild the OS? Just clone, plug and play?

      • I cloned my 500 GB hdd to 120 GB sandisk. Make sure you only have less than 110 or 100 GB data on the HDD to do the cloning.
If you go with the cheap one, you will need a USB to sata3 cable or HDD cover and a cloning software.
Most of them are paid, but if you like a free one, only few support cloning from a big HDD to smaller one even the occupied space is less.
I used EaseUS Todo Backup free edition.

  • Hi Store rep, will you have the 256GB Ultraplus back in stock before the sale ends tomorrow?

    • Hi asterix,

No worries, we've allocated another 50 units, please be quick.

      Regards
      SE

      • Beauty! Thanks just ordered one. Would that arrive tomorrow? 3000 delivery postcode.

        • I would say it will more likely arrive day after tomorrow. Receiving it earlier will be a bonus.

  • Sandisk Ultra Plus 256GB or crucial m500 240GB?
Both are $160(m500 from amazon) Not sure what is the better choice. Sandisk gets here quicker obviously.

  • That's annoying. I went to order 2 SSDs but I get an error:
"You can only order maximum of 1 SanDisk Ultra Plus SSD 128GB SDSSDHP-128G-Q25 7mm SATA3 (SDSSDHP-128G-Q25)."
