      • I don't believe this is true. I think it is also for the rest of Australia.

        • Please see edit on 10/3, a url for Australia wide is present now :)
          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/135360/revisions

        • it still has the same references to nsw & act branches in the t&cs. are you sure this is not just a nsw/act tv promo link?

i had to allow scripts for omtrdc.net in noscript in order to see the banner.

        • My page in SA is completely different and doesn't display that now and the banner is up the top. Very confusing. I'll change it back to be safe. Thanks!

        • i've sent a message asking whether i am eligible using their online contact form. i just want to be sure before i open an account

  • +1

    Thanks Hamza23

  • Will opening a single and a joint account result in 100$ deposit in each of the two accounts or only one of them?

  • I opened this account in Vic and called to try to please my case - they advised that the offer was specifically only addressed to people who accessed the site from NSW and ACT and that if I wanted to take it further it would have to be through their legal department.

Too bad - maybe they'll open it up to other states at some point.

  • try a different browser if the promotional link doesn't appear when you open up the anz.com. I've opened an account each for my wife and myself. We're both existing anz customers (but don't have the access advantage account) so opening up the account was a breeze. I'll just have to make sure to put in the $2000 to avoid paying the $5 monthly charge and meeting the promotion criteria.

  • so i think we better open near to 31 march and deposit $2k close to end of april?

    • that's what I think too. Otherwise will being charged by the monthly fee of $5.

    • In terms, it says:
      2. Monthly account service fee waived for ANZ Access Advantage accounts opened on or after 30 November 2013 if you deposit $2,000 or more by the last business day of the calendar month.

So if your account is created in March, I think you need to deposit $2000 in march as well.
Withdraw it and then deposit it again in April month end.

As the $100 amount will be transferred by 16th May 2014. That means you will have to keep this account till last week of May. ($2000 transactions * 3).

      • -4

I think you need to deposit $2000 in march as well.

        NO , YOU DON'T

Refer to the Eligibility criteria at the bottom, you will find

'Deposit at least $2,000 in total into the new ANZ Access Advantage account by 30 April 2014.'

        So i will deposit $2k on 28/04/2014 and withdraw on 01/05/2014 :)

        • +2

Congrats for your first comment :) !!

Yup, you are correct for $100 cash back.
But this account has a $5 fee per month. If you don't deposit $2000 by the end of each month, you will be charged that fee.

      • but do we need to keep the $2K in the account till 16 May 2014 in order to qualify the $100 promotion?

        • No. Deposit and withdraw. None of the terms say to keep the minimum balance in the account. It is just a deposit.

  • +1

This is open to everyone, not just NSW and ACT.

"Any Australian resident with an Australian address."

It is just that you can only open it from a BRANCH in NSW or ACT, others need to use the website. (This is my understanding of the words on the website)

    • they using geoip to deliberately restrict banners. i think it is clear that it is intended for nsw and act only.

      • It worked for me in TAS.

        • hopefully it will work for you

      • I don't think it is clear at all. I'm in SA and every time I close my internet banking session the $100 offer banner comes up.

    • -1

It is just that you can only open it from a BRANCH in NSW or ACT, others need to use the website.

I am sorry but I think you are mistaken.

The promotion is valid ONLY for residents of NSW & ACT and ANZ have formally confirmed it via twitter

      • I read your post after applying online and decided not to follow-up on this.

However, received an SMS from ANZ reminding me to verify myself, deposit $1000 and get the $100 bonus. At this point of time, I was certain of getting the bonus, even though I am not NSW & ACT resident.

  • Dammit. I just signed up in a WA branch on Saturday, and just saw this offer today…

If I had signed up online I would have scored $100…. I'm not sure how this is fair…. Should I ring and complain?

  • +1

Just received a letter in the mail today inviting to apply for this account.

URL they gave on the letter is http://anz.com/mailpromomarch2014

    • Thanks. I'll update deal url and details accordingly.

      • +1

This link still does not show the promotion for me in QLD.

ANZ have formally confirmed that this promotion is intended for residents of NSW and the ACT only.

If you live in one of these two states, then by all means go ahead and collect your cash (just make sure you close the account after you got paid as it's very very ordinary indeed).

For the rest of us, nothing to see here. Move along :)

        • Really? It shows in SA now.

'Open a new account and receive $100^'

        • well, nothing in QLD yet.

ANZ just confirmed again that this promo is for residents of NSW and ACT ONLY

        • @ginmi, i had to allow scripts for omtrdc.net in noscript in order to see the banner.

        • link is showing deal, i'm in WA

    • Thanks.

    • First Eligibility criterion is:
      • Open an ANZ Access Advantage account between 1 March and 31 March 2014 using the apply button on this page, or at a NSW or ACT ANZ branch.

The two conditions are parallel. Does it mean any one can apply through http://anz.com/mailpromomarch2014 and get the $100 even if he is not in NSW and ACT? You can defend yourself using this eligibility criterion if ANZ refuses to honour the $100 outside NSW and ACT.

  • Too bad, ANZ aren't getting my Victorian money then, if it's not good enough for them.

  • +1

so can we withdraw the $2000 instantly or does it need to say in the account?

    • I don't see any terms, but is it easy to close the account after you have received the cash back in your account?

    • Highly doubt we need to keep the money in the account. When registering for online banking they will automatically create an online saver account which pays 2.5% interest (+ bonus 1.4% interest for the first 4 months) so they expect you to take money in and out of the account.

      • +1

Online saver no longer pays bonus interest. So just 2.5 %

      • so we can just deposit $2K by end of April and withdraw, then wait till the $100 deposit on 16 May? or we have to keep the $2K till we receive the $100 in order to qualify the promotion?

        • What I understand is to deposit $2k and then you can take it out. $2k deposit each month will waive you $5 fees. You dont have to keep some minimum balance. So deposit and take it out.

  • My mother is an ANZ customer. Her online account is listed as "Access Account". Anybody know if she is eligible for the promotion?

    Thanx.

    • Only for new customers only. Acc. to the terms:
"The offer is only available to new or existing ANZ customers who did not have an ANZ everyday account as at 28 February 2014. "

  • +1

I don't want to stir the pot, but I just went to their main webpage and got this $100 deposit ad served to me - clicked on it and it appears the offer may have been opened up to other states? I'm in QLD (Brisbane) and didn't have any proxy or IP address trickery, just using regular interwebnets… whereas it wasn't doing it a week ago.

Anyone else in QLD or VIC want to give it another try and report back?

I plugged in anz.com.au which directed me to http://www.anz.com.au/personal/ which has the multicolored ad with "It's not everyday you could get $100 for opening a bank account"

Clicking on the find out more leads me to here:
    http://www.anz.com.au/personal/bank-accounts/everyday-accoun…

edit: I can see the same $100 deposit offer even just by navigating through their menu to here:
    http://www.anz.com.au/personal/bank-accounts/

Also, here are the T&C that are at the bottom of the "Find out more" link - as previously mentioned they say nothing about having to be a resident of NSW or ACT.

    ^Eligibility criteria

    • Open an ANZ Access Advantage account between 1 March and 31 March 2014 using the apply button on this page, or at a NSW or ACT ANZ branch.
    • The offer is only available to new or existing ANZ customers who did not have an ANZ everyday account as at 28 February 2014. • Deposit at least $2,000 in total into the new ANZ Access Advantage account by 30 April 2014.

ANZ recommends you read the ANZ Saving & Transaction Products Terms and Conditions, ANZ Personal Banking Account Fees and Charges and Financial Services Guide before acquiring the product.

I'm in QLD, and an ad for this just popped up online for me. Must be Australia wide now!

    • i think you should check by phone or with a local branch first. the wording in the t&cs is not clear

      • +2

I would disagree - the wording in the official t&cs is clear enough in my mind, at least enough for me to jump through the hoops for a potential no-win.

If the advert shows up for you I'd click on it and apply no matter what people in this thread will have you believe. There is going to be quite a few new customers doing this over the next few weeks while the promotion is on (whether or not they've heard of ozbargain), and if they've been served up this advertisement like we have and fit into the t&c criteria then I don't see how ANZ can get out of giving us the bonus $100.

BrisLis, in the end it's up to you if you want to jump through hoops for a potential no-win but personally, I'm taking that chance. As long as you transfer in and out the 2k cash per month, you won't get charged monthly account keeping fee so it's a small amount of hassle and only a few days worth of lost interest on the 2k you're moving in/out of the account. For me the downside is so negligible it's an easy choice, even if they weasel out of the $100 deposit/signup bonus.

  • Bad news for residents of WA SA VIC and TAS

I have phone confirmed with ANZ specialist a few minutes ago and this offer ONLY for residents of NSW AND ACT .

You may get confirmed by calling 1800 008 177

    • I am in VIC and signed up using the banner and it worked fine?

      • -1

come on just give it up, clearly this is for NSW ACT

  • Remember your account needs to have $2000 transferred by months end or it will be charged $5 monthly account fee. Only 2 more business days to go.

  • I have applied for the account and received the email. What will I have to do and how long will it take to open the account?

Also, how long will it take for the $2000 credit to be processed (to avoid the fee for March)?

    • +1

I opened online 2 days ago. Got my account number yesterday. Was told in email to verify identity in branch. Deposited 2k via bank transfer yesterday should arrive by mon I hope.

      • The payment should be backdated to the day it was sent rather than the day it was cleared. Correct?

That's how it works with other banks.

I might just make a cash deposit on Monday.

        • +1

Not sure actually. I thought it will be dated the time money is in the account. I could be wrong but yeah safer bet to make a cash deposit in branch and u can verify your identity at the same time too

  • +2

I opened one on Friday. Process was very quick and simple. Though I had to try my best not to laugh when the guy asked if I wanted my salary switched over into this account haha.

  • +1

    Hi all

In order to qualify the $100 promotion, does anyone know we have to do the 100 points ID check by end of March or end of April? or it does not really matter?

    • I applied the account online, got my BSB and A/c # from the email but unsure if I need to do the 100 points ID check by end of March, and by receiving the BS and A/C #, does that mean my a/c is already opened?
    • called to ANZ hotline (13 13 14), staff is useless there, just asked me to go to the branch and enquire about it as they couldnt answer my question.
    • staff at the ANZ branch is not sure either

Anyway, very disappointed about the ANZ service, I guess I wouldnt use this bank for long-term !

    • +1

From my understanding … At least from the email they sent me, unless u verify yourself in the branch, u are not allowed to make withdrawals or do internet banking.

Yes I find ANZ customer service to be not as good as Westpac, nab in my dealings

      • Thanks Jared17

      • The documentation states that the account needs to have been opened in March. If you have the Account Number I should think that your account is "opened".

  • +1

Worth noting that if you're a student the monthly fee is waived - at least that's what she did for me in the branch.

Also, my account says Access Cheque Account - does anyone else have that? She had to fiddle around a bit with some kind of coding to link my new account up with an old Etrade CRN and in the process I'm hoping didn't change the account type.

    • +2

Both my husband's and mine are the Access cheque accounts.

      • Thanks, really appreciate the reply

      • So is mine and I verified this on the phone — different name, same product.

    • I only received the email saying my application for an ANZ Access Advantage account has been approved and got my bank details there…

  • Did anyone receive a debit card for this account?

    • According to the email, you have to call them up or go to the branch to order it.

    • When you go to the branch and activate the account, you can request that.

  • anyone has a print screen for this offer? Just in case I'll need it

  • Never received the 100$ yet. Anyone else?

    • Subject to meeting the eligibility criteria, the $100 will be deposited into the new ANZ Access Advantage account by 16 May 2014. The account must be open as at this date for the $100 deposit to be made. ANZ can withdraw this offer at any time.

  • +3

i got mine today, just before easter. I would have kept the account open, but the 5$ monthly fee is so unreasonable. I like their app.

    • +1

      thanks for the heads up.

checked my account, also received mine.

      time to close the account.

    • Me too. One month earlier than I thought.

  • Also received. Yes no bank should charge fee to keep our money, look at how much profit they earn each year.

    • Got mine too. Agree which is why i'm closing it straight away. I don't want to be forced to put my pay check with them

  • Also received it yesterday. Does anyone know if the $100 needs to be reported as interest received come tax time?

    • I would imagine it does, just like the ingdirect $50.

  • Also received! Yeah!!

  • Received the $100 bonus! Thanks again OP!

  • Does anyone outside NSW & ACT receive the bonus?

  • +2

Yes I can confirm I've just received the $100 promotional payment. And I'm in SA.

  • +1

Just received the $100. Was notified by text "$100 has been credited to your new ANZ Access Advantage account as part of the offer you qualified for."

  • +1

Received my $100. And I'm in QLD, yay! All for a little bit of jumping through hoops… well worth it!

edit/clarification: I got the ad served to me on both a work PC and the iPad (while connected via Telstra 3G) during the promotion period as well as it being google-able if you tried hard enough. I jumped through the required hoops and satisfied all the t&c criteria as stated in the offer. I would expect anyone else who managed to sign up via the right "Apply Now" button will also be receiving their $100 no matter where they happen to live in Australia!

edit 2: This is probably what they were aiming for with this promotion - just trying to bump the number of goMoney users up above 1 million for marketing /promotional efforts: http://www.finextra.com/news/fullstory.aspx?newsitemid=24695

    • I am in QLD too but never got served the add.

Can you please give the exact link you clicked on to open the account?

Also, did you complete the process entirely online or went to a branch for the ID check?

      • +1

Sorry, I don't think I saved any links, only screenshots to cover my butt… From what I understand about web pages any links I clicked on back then would no longer serve up the same content now in any case.

It came up at least one time for me as a background banner ad on their main page www.anz.com.au/personal/

As far as application process, the application was all online, and got approved for the account online (and they give you your account number in an email so you can do deposits earlier), but in order to get access to Internet banking and do withdrawals I needed to go into a branch for the ID check.

        HTH!

  • Just got my $100 after closing the acc and I am in VICTORIA.
Had to go into branch and they waved the second month acc keeping fee .

  • OMG,I haven't deposited the money so far. If I deposit $2000 before the end of this month ,could I still get the $100? And when could I get it? I suppose it should be by 16th May :(

    • Yep - better get cracking. The main criteria as per the OP

      • Deposit at least $2,000 in total into the new ANZ Access Advantage account by 30 April 2014.

      • Register for (if not already registered) and log on to ANZ Internet Banking or the ANZ goMoney™ App between 1 March 2014 and 30 April 2014.

So you have time, just make sure you get the 2k deposited soon… this will (1) avoid the $5 monthly account keeping fee and (2) satisfy one half of the criteria for the bonus $100.

      • Thanks for the reply fleetoiler:). I haven't expected that ANZ would give $100 much earlier than the mentioned date lol.

  • Got the $100 in the account. Thanks again OP :)
Can I close the account now or I need to deposit $2000 in April (initially deposited in March) and withdraw before closing the account to waive the $5 fee?

    • I need to deposit $2000 in April (initially deposited in March) and withdraw before closing the account to >waive the $5 fee

Nah, take your money and run :)

      Empty account and then close!

      • Thanks. But I might have to deal with the bank again and don't want to end up bad :)

  • Confirmed got my 100bux in WA. Was gonna closed the account straight away, but had to keep it open till next month due to a complication with a supposedly closed credit card account which remain unclosed for 2 months, racking up fees and charges. No wonder ANZ keeps paying people to switching to use their products.

  • +1

    Got paid bitch!

  • Got my $100 (NSW)!

  • got my $100. i'm in victoria and the ad was displayed in my standard browser (opera with turbo turned on). they should have put "for nsw and act residents only" in the t&cs if that's what they intended.

  • +1

Quick question for those of you who have already closed an account with ANZ, can it be done online or via email or over the phone? Do I have to take another trip into a branch or can it be done some other way? Such a hassle trying to get in there during business hours lol!

    • YES IT SUCKS WAITING FOR OVER 10 MINUTES TO SPEAK TO SOMEONE BECAUSE THEY ARE CHATTING TO AN OLD LADY

    • Call 1800155261. I waited for 3-4 minutes.

The lady asked me why I opened the account as I am closing it in one month.
I told her that, it does not sound nice to ask us as it is not one of the condition to open an account. We can close anytime if we dont like the product. Lady soon realised and closed the account.
Still I gave her reasons which I felt:
      1. $5 account fee which most of the banks dont charge any more.
      2. No SMS security in case my account password is stolen. ( like NAB or citibank). Not sure if ANZ does that.
      3. I applied for $100 cash back promotion and got it now :).

Starting from opening the account to closing, it was 20 minutes work and it earned $100. Time to go to Dan Murphy ;)

  • To those who have already received the $100 bonus, how long did you keep the $2000 in your account?

I haven't made the transfer yet as I assumed the bonus wouldn't be paid early.
