Can anybody who purchased one before comment on the performance? (read/write speeds).

I read an amazon review where the reviewer said the 2Tb was rather slow and prone to failures while the 1Tb version is faster and seems more stable/reliable..

    • (had a look at the previous posting).. One user posted performance (wholistic on 22/02/2014 - 13:34) 95MB/s Write 105MB/s Read) … Anyone can substantiate?

    • Dont know about the 2T one, i have the 1T and has been working flawlessly for one year already. Very good unit.

    • I bought it from the last deal I get ~95-100MB/s write speed.

Might pop into Officeworks and get it for $132 ;)

standard 2.5" sata drive inside? or is it soldered to a pcb?

    • +1

      I'd like to know too.

      • It's about 50% thicker than a standard 2.5" drive. It's not soldered on to a PCB though, it has a SATA to USB adapter that comes off easily. So you could put this in a desktop, but it wouldn't fit in a laptop.

Holy crap… just realised you can price match with Officeworks over the phone… And free delivery! I might be a bit slow to figure this out, but my lazy factor just increased! Ordered $132.05

It's over $100 so you can't use paypass

        • +2

of course u can… split your payment or buy gift cards

        • +1

You can split your payment. $99.95 and $32.10. $32.10 in cash if you want to abide by ING's T&C.

      • +20

        $99.99 – 5% ING = $94.99 + $32.06 = $127.05

My nearest officeworks store is 11.9km.
        Toyota Corolla approx. 9L/100km @ approx. $1.60/L (Premium 98) = $14.40/100km
        = $1.71 for 11.9km

        Total cost = $128.76
        My buy price delivered $132.05

        Total saving $3.29

        17 mins each way = 34mins @ $38/hr (my current pay) = Total price $150.29
        = $18.24 more expensive than the $132.05 I paid.

nah if he did he would account for vehicle depreciation for the 23.8km added to the odometer. Once drive your vehicle with the equivalent distance to reaching the moon from earth, its a write-off.

I think if you really wanted to account for every dollar and cent, you wouldn't put RON98 in a Corolla. Just saying!

        • +1
