Pizza Hut Cheeseburger Crust: 8 'Cheeseburgers' for $3

184

For an extra $3 you can turn any Pizza Hut pizza into an abomination. Works out to 37.5c per 'cheeseburger'.

It's available right now as a crust to select for any pizza.

I couldn't find a link to a Pizza Hut media release, so I linked to LifeHacker instead.

Enjoy… ?

I've just had one right now. Its either a hit or miss to be honest. The meat is not really the same as you'd expect from a Maccas or HJ cheeseburger.
The "cheeseburger" that you're looking at receiving as the crust is more like a sausage roll's type of meat. However, try it out and get your own opinions.

Warning: When you choose to upgrade the crust to cheeseburger, you'll be receiving a substantially smaller pizza. I was disappointed. $15 for a pizza the size of the Mia's.

$15 for a pizza the size of the Mia's.

Damn. I retract my post below saying it sounds like a good price. No deal if the pizza is way smaller lol.

    • for the abomination comment
  • Can't wait for this to come to WA!!!….

    WTF is this?!???!!

on further investigation - looks outstanding

  • That is.. bizarre.

lol I got creeped out by the phrase "involves grafting eight “cheeseburgers” onto the ends of a regular large pizza"

    Grafting. It's Frankenpizza!

Not sure if I'd go for it (probably looks tastier than it actually is), but for only $3 extra, it seems pretty cheap and worth trying once. Shame all our local Pizza Huts are crapola.

edit: ignore my 'seems cheap' comment.

Lifehacker had a taste test. Here's the verdict

    • To make things interesting, we didn’t tell them what the crust was supposed to be. Would they be able to figure it out on their own?

This is not a deal, it's a menu item. Happy to discuss this pizzas merits in the forums.

I've had it already and this is as much a deal as stuff crust for $3 or a 30 cent cone for 30 cents is.

    • +4

Yeah, I don't really see this as a deal. Its more like a added cost. Now…if it was 50% off that would be a deal.

  • YESSSSSSSSSS/NOOOOOOOOOOOO.

  • I didnt know about it and I wouldnt have seen this, if it was posted in forums. I consider it a deal.

  • +5

Yer sorry man but ill have to agree with bxpressive, i usually only neg spamers :D in this case no deal :D
and sounds like it only costs $3 for the whole pizza :D

    • +5

Oh noes, a neg from 'Food' :-(

That's it, shut it down. Deal's over.

  • +2

Still not convinced….. now if it was deep fried and covered in bacon…. oooh…. baconburgerturduckenpizza…

  • I would rather eat my own faeces smothered in mozerella.

You should work for a government advisory board; your exaggerated, pompous, impotent finger-waving would be most welcome.

      • +4

Hey, don't be so presumptuous, COR80. Maybe tommyc really does prefer eating his own faeces. What he needs is acceptance from us, not judgment. Poor tommytoiletmuncher :(

  • Looks like more crust, less pizza

  • +2

    No deal
Just like stuffed crust or the hot dog crust
It's a add on and is the usual price Pizza Hut charges

  • Cheeseburger crust…
    Hot dog crust…
    Cheese crust…

Pizza Hut need to focus on making decent pizza instead of shoving this bollocks down our throats.

Pizza Hut's latest foray into crust-stuffing, known as 'the cheeseburger crust', is available with any large sized pizza. This fast food mash-up will set you back 700 kilojoules for the crust alone. Add the crust to a pepperoni pizza (pictured above), and the kilojoules clock up to 6907.3.

    That's 863.4 kJ per slice.

Nutritionist Susie Burrell says the cheeseburger crust addition is excessive, with the pizza veering close to the daily recommended intake for an adult.

“The average adult with have between 6000-8000 kJ per day - so a pizza is an entire day's calories, and fat is likely to be at least 10 grams a slice, if not more,” Burrell says.

    • It's not clear whether the extra 700kj is per 'cheeseburger' or for all 8. But either way it's still less kilojoules per cheeseburger than McDonalds (1180 kilojoules).

Of course all facts and figures fly out the window when you scoff down a complete cheeseburger crust pizza to yourself!

  • I live a stone's throw from a Pizza Hut, and keep wishing it were a Dominos (or Crust Pizza or something) instead. Pizza Hut's ideas for new menu items have consistently sucked in the past few years - ridiculously overpriced 'Signature' range which uses the same mediocre bases as their regular pizzas, 'Light and Delicious' range is just a reduced-size pizza on their standard thin base rather than a real attempt at healthy pizza, lame cold desserts that are sometimes still thawing from frozen storage (may as well get cheaper and better ones from the supermarket), and ridiculous novelties such as the hot dog crust and now this thing.

    • IMO Dominos are just as bad and have less topping than Pizza Hut.
      Crust are pretty good.

Monte Carlo (in Noble Park North, VIC) are awesome, albeit more expensive than Pizza Hut and Dominos.

      • All stores vary across chains and locations. IMO our local Dominos is far better than our local Pizza Hut. Same for when I lived in Canberra, my local Dominos was awesome.
