      Cheap third party refills supported?

      • Would never touch cheapie toner….

        • did you use gloves?

      • +3

dont even bother with toner cartridges…. when it run out just buy a new printer… works out cheaper

        • +3

Agreed. That's the ridiculous thing about printers and toner cartridges like this. It's cheaper to just buy a new printer, and fill up dat landfill.

    • Here is an idea of what genuine consumables will cost

At these prices, it's cheaper to buy 2 printers!

  • Good price! Shipping $10 to Melbourne.

  • $189 for all four toners shipped - http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/4x-Toner-Cartridge-for-Samsung-CL…

0.189c per page printed, is that cheap per page?

    • +2

$203 plus shipping for geniune cartridges (in first reply) seems much better than $189 shipped for "compatible" cartridges.

I also don't believe 18c per page printing cost is reasonable. Plus you need to add a $130 drum replacement every 16,000 pages. Personally I prefer a $250+ printer that doesn't need a replaceable drum, like the HP CM2015 (discontinued now of course)

My current printer of choice to buy ATM would be the Xerox DocuPrint CP215W for $150-$200

stock up a couple of printers…
$79 printer that prints min 500 pages in colour… works out to be 0.158c per page. :)

  • Not if that is actual 18c a page you are quoting there

    • +1

      0.18c/page. big difference.

      • Oh dear. $189 for 1000 pages. Want to check the maths again? (is that with 5% coverage per colour?)

  • Amazon review

"I was not happy that the starter black cartridge reported empty after printing just 179 pages instead of the quoted 700+."

    • +1

The fine print on most of those printers is 700 pages at 5% ink coverage or less. Most people miss that

      • +12

The fine print is you need to use fine print.

  • Always search for replacement cartridge costs!

  • Don't have much time to research and compare, but that is an awesome price for a colour laser printer. I have a sammy myself, it's multifunction but not network compatible. I've been reasonably happy with it. I got 1200 pages out of the black starter toner.

  • Been waiting for a colour laser printer for a while now. This is going to replace my very very old black/white wifi laser that comes with WEP only…

  • +4

If only it scanned also, then it would be perfect!

    • +1 been waiting for a Colour Laser MFP deal for ages.

I bought a Samsung Wifi Laser MFC and it sucks.

It is not permanently on the network and every time I want to use it over wifi I need to reboot it as my ipad/computer etc can't find it once it goes into sleep mode.

Resorted to connecting to it with a USB cable.

    • +6

Majority of reviews on Amazon suggest it's a rubbish product. WiFi is flakey and inconsistent. Frequent paper jams. Sounds like it's a lot more trouble than it's worth.

    • +2

i have the older model 325W that looks like this, and i too was having flaky connectivity issues, try setting a permanent network IP address, like 192.168.1.200
The drivers don't search for a new address, they use the last one you set.

$79 for 500 pages = 16c/page (fewer pages in real life).
Even 3rd party cartridges cost more, so buy ten of these, and throw out when the toner is gone.

But its OK, it has an ECO button.

    • "buy ten of these, and throw out"
Ouch… Don't do it for sake of environment…

anyone know which printer is the cheapest to run? this one doesnt seem very cheap to run.

    • I would guess you would get a lot more milage out of the Kyoceras mfc that was on recently, but it was black and white

    • Your comment .. "this one doesnt seem very cheap to run" .. could you submit your "facts" to back up your comment .. or did you just make it up???

  • Hey guys what are your thoughts on a Lanier 1200SF Mono Laser MFC (Print, Copy, Scan, Fax)$129 delivered?

  • How would this compare to tis printer? Out of stock but more for comparison purposes.

  • Never buy a Samsung printer!
I have had two with massive issues!! Check my over enthusiastic rant here https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/115350. Also google Samsung wifi printer problems and check Amazon and New Egg for reviews.

  • Damnit! Purchased at $99 Last week. Anyway I found this to be the cheapest price if buying all 4 toners. ~$175 delivered, took less than 24hrs to deliver. http://www.officetoner.com.au/samsung-p406c-value-pack-p-842…

Our family use 2 of these .. great color laser printer.. at a great price - refurbished toners are easy to get!!!

    … anyway at $79 what's the problem?????

  • … anyway at $79 what's the problem?????

The problem is I don't need it but I'm so tempted to buy it.

  • On first look, I thought this was a toaster!

  • Does anyone know anything about "jail-break" this printer ?

    • +1

Yes, you can flash the firmware of this printer make toner 100% full all the time . But the software is not free .

      • Thanks, any link to the software and does it work fine and worthy the efforts/money spent ? cheers

  • Every day I can kiss my butt-ugly Kyocera FS-820 a little more. It has never failed me and black toner goes for many thousands of pages at 5% coverage, not a mere few hundred.

Replacement toner is from a cheaper third-party of course. Kyocera, me love you long time. I bought you for a few hundred and you are only black & white, but you are an old friend that will never hit landfill soon. We have shared many memories, old friend.

It has a one touch eco button to save on toner and paper use

I wonder what Samsung Corporation thinks of the printers hitting landfill due to extortionate backwards pricing models and laughable in-built toner levels? Of course it's not only them. Is that 'eco' for Samsung?
