ABEO Car Rear View Mirror Accident Event Recorder DVR $79.99 + Bonus 4GB SD (RRP $249) MWAVE

10

Rear-view mirror mountable video camera. Got a newsletter email from MWAVE this morning about this deal, however currently unknown of how long the sale will last. The email I got states it's online only, so you likely won't be able to arrange pickup at their Lidcombe store.

You can probably make it cheaper if you have saved up MWAVE dollars. You also get a bonus 4GB SD card.

Have done a quick skim online. All other references to this product either point back to MWAVE's deal, or "DISCONTINUED" on competitor sites.

    • Already saw the amazon link. Albeit only by a few $, it's more than MWAVE's offer.

My verdict: Not worth purchasing — for around the same price (actually, cheaper!), you could buy a 1080p @ 30FPS camera that can better discern license plates and with superior night vision recording.

check out the G1W which you can import for roughly $55 USD.

And here's how it stacks against the ABEO.

        • Another review of the G1W here, all in all he says its the best cheap 1080p car camera going around at the moment.

Also noticed a local eBay seller, $64AUD shipped.

I got this one last year from dealsdirect for $20

Stick with a good quality 1080p setup guys.

Very rare that you are going to need it while stationary, in direct sunlight, in the middle of the day.
More often than not it'll be while you are moving (blur), in poor light (morning or evening travel), or even at night.

And unless the footage shows a number plate clearly, theres no a whole lot the police can do for you on a hit and run.

If you're seriously concerned about collecting evidence on the road, spend more and get a proper setup.
That way, if you get it hard wired and it has a motion sensor in it, it'll record someone backing into your car at the shops when you're away (just make sure you always reverse park).

Avoid this. Spend the same $80 and get yourself a camera with an Ambarella chip. The rest are garbage.
