  • Any discount codes still work?

  • Its frustrating that not even the Samsung website tells you what video formats are supported.

    This is quite important.

    • The manual probably will. Most recent TVs support H.264 in the MKV container.

I've historically found compatibility to pretty good with encoded video files on USB hard drives with Samsung.

ps. Agreed the Samsung manual isn't very helpful. It appears to reference a "Specifications" page. Refer to: http://downloadcenter.samsung.com/content/UM/201303/20130314181034604/[WEB]X13DVBAS3F-0314.pdf or http://s1.bigbrownbox.com.au/manuals/UA50F5000/1908201314304…

  • whilst a good price, note this appears to be an older model, 5000 series, with minimal 'smarts' built in.

    • its a newer model, late 13'. most manufacturers are producing dumb versions of there tvs due to consumer backlash (why spend $1000 more on a smart tv when a $100 smart tv unit (WD, apple tv etc.) do the same.)

      • Most people only watch FTA tv… no need for a smart tv at all.

  • very nice picture. great "dumb" tv. Only downside is two hdmi inputs

  • Price is ok. Nothing fantastic. The good guys have it as clearance for the same price.

Yeah TV is the bottom of the range so expect minimal features/connectivity etc.

Guys, remember this is 50hz. I know this has been a debating issue but on a 50' screen, it is fairly noticeable, especially when watching full hd contents

    • yeah, a 'fluid' 50Hz = lol

    • I noticed lots more ads for 200mhz in the brochures nowadays! Before it was a rarity. Big difference in performance?

Why the neg? Good point made to save you from buying inferior spec. Or at least be aware

The Samsung PS51F5000 51 inch Plasma flogs this panel for image quality, and is only $50 or so more expensive. No brainer.
