Got excited but $14 in my local IGA in Sydney
    :(

  • Is this across all IGAs in WA?

  • Just be careful. IGA stores, being small, carry little stock of everything, and would probably not have ordered extra for this sale.

  • Plenty of large IGAs around me, seem to have stacks of softdrink when on special.

I thought I would report back on my experience with this deal. There was plenty of stock (well over 80 cases stacked up specially near the check out). I completed some other shopping and went to check out. During check out I grabbed one case, handed it to the girl behind the counter and said I'd like a dozen which I bought and paid for. Told her I would put the current trolley in my car and come back for the rest. She said someone from IGA could help bring the rest and she asked her supervisor/manager if someone could help. The manager just said to me, hold on a moment, I need to check whether we are losing money on that. I said, ok but I've already bought them.

He goes away, comes back and says they are losing money ($2 per case) and the offer is limited to three. I immediately say no it isn't, there is no stated limit in the catalogue or on the signage. He says he was going to let me keep the dozen, but now he won't because of my attitude. I ask him to show me where the limit is stated. He pulls out the catalogue and points to the words "Retail quantities only. No trade supplied". I point out that I am a retail customer and so far as I am concerned 12 is a retail quantity. He told me that "Metcash defines retail quantities as 3". No where in the catalogue is that stated.

Anyway, it all turned out good for me. Just as he appeared to be about to relent, I accepted a refund for 9 cases. Why is this good? I paid for them on my credit card and got the refund to my savings account, long story short got 270 Frequent Flyer points for free and just dropped by the IGA down the road on the way home to get the rest.
