I was just searching for some cheap airfares and found Malaysian Airlines to be the cheapest (I know there is a bit of cloud over the airlines, but could happen to any airlines)….

Example, Melbourne to Mumbai return was $867 (example leave 25-April and return 12-May). The next cheapest was $1000…a good $150 per ticket. In fact I'm seeing that other airlines rates are also down, previously for same dates, it was around $1200…so book quickly before rates go up again

Mod: Due to continued off-topic conversation and inappropriate jokes, thread closed.

This thread as a whole is really quite disappointing - I came here to probably see a few jokes, a few more people who regurgitate what the media has them believe, and then those who are educated even slightly on the matter.

Instead, I see jokes (all good - it is ok to make light of a tragedy, even if people are still making them by page 3), about 2 informed and the rest being those who just dislike the deal due to the Airline - which the reason for concern hasn't even been resolved.

We have a person in my grade at school whos relative was aboard that flight - the pain and suffering their family must be going through I cannot imagine. But some of the jokes and comments on here are not funny, some are, but there are a good few that are in simply bad taste.

  • Nice deal, but I'd stay away from the Malaysian Airlines mystery flights.

  • I've just done a flight check for August Mel-London return and the want $2,290, nope/never going to happen.

  • AirAsiaX are not that better. Kuala Lumpur to Phuket, plane makes strange noises while taxiing, engineers inspect, clear it to take off within a few minutes without any changes..
30 minutes after departure, return to Airport, malfunction of some kind.

    Coincidence? Or loopholes in maintenance?

The Kathmandu accident is a Boeing 737 and HK emergency landing was an Airbus. OK, maybe the Kathmandu accident was the duck's fault.

  • 3 pages of non-bargain related commentary.
I was hoping for some more examples of bargain flight routes that everyone found.

Why is this "deal" still open?
