  • This is going to end in tears.. Seems OK, bit I think your going to have compatibility issues… Also speed is going to be average I rekon… Is give it a go as a budget phone but for 100 extra on the motog I honk your going to have more than double the phone at double the price… If only the g had a micro SD!

  • Looks alright to me. Which brand is Onix? Aldi, Sams Warehouse?

Huawei Ascend Y300 from Telstra is $79; then you can get it unlocked for about $5 more.

you can get a 5" quad core china phone for less than $100

    • What he said I was looking last night.

Just for the record I have an 18 month old Star n9776 and it has been flawless and every function works including a fast GPS. Not all Chinese phones are gabage.

i bought this for Mrs Altomic a month ago for US$98. pretty awesome phone. true 1gb/4gb . antutu 14000ish. great camera (with panaramic function). the best china droid I've had.

        • is it safe to buy from aliexpress? @_@

        • +1

Yeah I'd say its moderately safe I think with alipay, aliexpress' equivalent paypal/escrow service. I've bought from aliexpress without drama but still like ebay should probably stick to the sellers with good feedback.

I've bought about 25 things from aliexpress.- never a problem.

the only dramas I have had is with really cheap microsd cards - usually fake. i test them with H2test and then open a dispute with screen dumps of the h2test outcome, and use the word counterfeit a lot. always had my money refunded in full.

Oh, and I did buy a pair of jeans that weren't that great (size was huge), but that can be somewhat expected when buying clothes on line.

        • thx for the info about alipay paypal equivalent

I'll look into it to see if it's good :O

        • Biggest problem I'm finding is that most of these china phones don't support 900MHz 3G.

The Huawei G526 4G with dual core 1.5gHz is a better device and still $99 from Dick Smith

There's an NSA ROM out for it now as well.

        Got a link?
I don't think they have enough of my personal details.

      • link please.

    • what do you mean "still" $99?

      • It's discounted until 26th of March, or until sold out I guess. I think it's clearance.
Some stores still have them but the click and collect option has gone. My son bought one of the five left from Parramatta on Saturday, and the home delivery option is still available, and DS had free delivery over the weekend.

Another EDIT. Maybe I should have posted it as a deal.

          This is a different phone.

        • That is not a Huawei G526…

    • Link to the $99 Huawei G526 4G please? I cannot find it on their website. Thank you.

  • This phone is dual SIM. Did anyone even look before commenting?

    • Most Chinese phones on the usual sites are.

And it isn't exactly a huge selling point to most people.

        • +2

was for me.. I bought the ALDI 5" phone late last year - dual SIM means I don't need to carry my personal and work phones around with me all the time.

No idea why this comment was negged, fair point
