    Wow few million Dongs save!

The off side is that they do charge for check-in baggage. From $43 for 20kg(best value is $51 for 25kg) from Sydney.

Also have to travel via Kuala Lumpur.

Went to Ho Chi Minh/Hanoi for our Honeymoon. Fantastic holiday. Recommend it to all!

  • This might be a better option and with an Aussie airline (for now).

just got back from Vietnam and as per the advice in the forum someone reccomended the hotel Ava 2 Saigon, it was around 25 bucks a night for their deluxe VIP room and included free wifi, laundry daily, breakfast, etc

awesome location and awesome country, will be going back asap :)

check the forum post from the dude about vietnam for a whole bunch of info.

lunch and dinner will cost you around 1-5 AUD depending on what you want. beers around 50 cents each for a large bottle. more in bars / clubs. not much though

I recommend going to Saigon Sqaure Markets, if anyway is interested in shopping in Ho Chi Minh

  • Anyone confirm how much those all day guides cost? Or where/how to find them?

I've always been curious about going to Vietnam, but I'm a bit of a luddite about going countries where I do not think I can get away with just English.

    • I just got back from Vietnam 4 days ago, Just english is fine 100% as long as your staying in tourist areas (district 1 HCMC etc) if you go to Bin Thay markets instead of ben thanh you will struggle with just english but ben thanh markets is all you need trust me.

all day taxi hire is about $40 Aud but for a proper guide to talk to you and take you places (eg: private guide to Mehkong delta I would recommend Jason Superstar) you are looking at about 100AUD a day
