  • Everyday price or on special?
Btw, the grouping deal 32gb Samsung micro sd class 10 for $9.99 a good deal?

    • +3

It is special price, everyday price is $30.
Also microsd card, it is 8gb card for $9.99 not 32gb.

      • +1

Yep, I got excited there for a second, but the 32GB card is $29.99 plus shipping. Can get for around $25 delivered on ebay.

  • +3

When do you have to activate it by?

    • And do all of the SIM's Expire on the same date?

      • Also if we buy 2 vouchers of $29 each, we'll get 2 sim card.So how to port from lebara to lebara once first voucher/sim is utilized.

        • You can not do lebara to lebara. You have to do lebara to Telstra then back to lebara.

        • +1

By porting to a $1/$2/free sim from another provider before porting back to Lebara.

        • can u claim that you lost or damaged the sim

  • +6

They are with vodafone, if that helps anyone to decide

    • Voda 2G or 3G?

      • +4

        3G

      • How can you use 2GB data on 2G network?

        • +25

          Slowly.

  • Thanks OP. Bought a 60 day pack. 2 months for $29

    • +7

Wouldn't it be better value to get 2 x 30 days for 4gb total?

      • Yes, it would!

      • +1

I am not sure how this works. I think the 30 day one is a starter pack which comes with 1 month pre loaded and don't think it will have a recharge voucher. So, if I buy 2 x 30 days, then at the end of first month, I have to port my number out and then port it back to Lebara to use the second pack which is a bit of a pain.

60 day one is just one activation and recharge at the end of 30 days with the voucher provided.

I also don't use much of data as I have wi fi at work and at home. I hardly use around 500 mb mobile data in a month on my current plan.

      • +1

I am sure the 60 days will include 2gb per 30 days.

        • +1

But that's not what it says -
$29 for a Lebara SIM card with 60 days unlimited national calls and texts and 2GB of data (total value $61.80)

        • the 60 day option comes with an additional $30 recharge card.. the recharge does include 2gb data.. no roll over from first month thou

  • How does Lebara verify ID?

Is it strict, like ALDI Mobile where you must mail in your Drivers licence or Passport?

Or they just let you put in any old rubbish in the Activation fields when you Activate online which are never checked, like DODO, Optus and Telstra?

    Anyone know?

    • Looking for a burner phone are we?

      • +2

I think it's just the effort and not wanting to be spammed.

        • Exactly.

        • +1

I don't think I've even being spammed because I used my real identity?

Although I thoroughly disagree with having to provide a real identity and evidence of it in the first place. Aussies who complain about the USA's various three letter agencies spying on everyone might want to take a look in their own country.

      • +1

For a dual phone like mine, cheaper to buy and Activate new SIM Starter Packs specials like this, use it for outgoing calls on SIM slot#2 and then just throw it away.

        Rather than Recharge.

I'm a true Ozbargain - Broden better watch out!!!

    • Use random detailss
Only aldi mobile i know of full checks id

    • I just activated my Aldi prepaid. Only require Medicare and drivers license. Didn't ask me to mail in a copy.

  • +1

still wondering when does it have to be activated by ?

  • Is it $0.95 per MMS as an additional fee? 1MB data increments? Takes the shine off this deal a little bit, but great if calling and texting is your big spend usually…

    • Yep, the $0.95 is an additional fee for MMS which does detract from the deal.

Just an FYI for anyone with a Nexus 5, you may have issues with MMS. I was with Lebara for 2 months last year and despite repeated trouble shooting and escalation they were unable to get MMS working. In the end the techs advised that others were experiencing the same issue, the handset was not supported and there was nothing they could do. Nexus 5 has been around for a bit now so they may have worked it out, but its probably worth confirming before porting over.

      • +3

Better if MMS doesn't work if they charge 95c for each one!

      • So how do they charge $0.95 for MMS when it's pre-paid?
Where are you guys getting all this info from? I must be blind.

        • +1
        • Whilst its unlimited prepaid you still have a dollar balance for MMS and premium services. If you don't add any money or your balance runs out then it won't allow you use these services.

        • Lucjack - Can you provide a link to this information please?
          I can't find that anywhere.

        • Glovebox, the link says MMS isn't included in the Mega Plan which isn't this plan.
Can you copy and paste what you are exactly trying to highlight please?

        • +1

I was on this plan last year and can confirm that you do have a balance that is separate to the unlimited plan/add on. This is used for MMS, premium services and from memory 1300 numbers that were also not included in the unlimited plan. I doubt this would have changed, its the same way other providers such as Amaysim handle it.

        • +1

Not sure if or where its listed, but its definitely the way it worked late last year. They gave me the $3 credit (upon activation of the unlimited plan) thats listed here:

          https://www.lebara.com.au/free-sim

They kept giving me more credit to trouble shoot the MMS issue, which would also get used if I called a 1300 number (13xxxx and 1800 were incl). Not sure if they are still charging for these, but between the 95c MMS and 1300 charges it wasn't really great value.

      • People still use MMS these days ??

        • I was thinking the same thing. Why don't you just send an email?

  • thanks

  • is there an expiry date on the sims

    • +2

Customer service is hopeless. I don't think the Indian girl knows what a sim card is

  • Is this deal permanent or just on special?

If its permanent - i may transfer/change networks since it is cheap as truffles.

    • Just on special.

      • thanks tend-li-ya

  • +1

    Shipping takes two weeks…

  • +2

when is the deadline to activate the cards?

    • according to Tella (customer service girl) no deadline

      • I don't believe her, I'm afraid.

She doesn't appear to know what she is talking about.

        Anyone know the truth?

        • I would say a long time. Considering it says 2 weeks for us to get it.

But that's just my speculation. Like how economists speculate I'm doing the same thing.

    • There is a "Activate By" date mentioned on the package that you will receive, I have used many different carriers, and an "Activate by" date is always mentioned. Usually its an year if its a fresh stock.

  • how do you choose between the standard vs micro sim option? or do they ask you later which you wanted? :/

    • +2

They ship multi sim which has cutouts for both standard and micro sims.

      • ah thanks :)

  • I do not think this plan has dollar value. Following from lebara website.http://www.lebara.com.au/bundle-terms-and-conditions

When using the Unlimited Plans, to access any ‘Excluded Services’ (any supported services not part of the ‘Included Services’ as defined by Lebara Mobile Australia Pty Ltd) you must top-up your main balance with additional Lebara credit. These ‘Excluded Services’ will be charged at our standard rates set out in our Standard Rate Table for that Plan, located on the Website.

    The ‘Excluded Services’ are:
    Calls to any international numbers (excluding to Selected Destinations for customers on the Lebara Unlimited Plan);
    SMS to any international number;
    premium SMS services;
    MMS or video call services;
    Calls to premium or special service numbers, including but not limited to satellite phone numbers, directory assistance and 19xx services;

    • Anyone who neg my above comment, care to explain me ur reason?

      • +3

        I didnt neg you BUT…….

Tell me how many people make international phone calls using their mobiles?
—This is ozbargain you'd be silly to do so, use VOIP.

SMS to international number again similar thing do you regularly do this?
—Use WhatsApp or even Facebook or if in China Weibo.

        Premium SMS services?
—Do you make a lot of SEXY6969 SMS's? or maybe Enter compeitions for 55cents a min?

        MMS or video call services
—Umm… MMS use facebook or email or other things. MMS is such a limited service the size of the picture is like a bees penis. Video calls. lol ok use other software. maybe iFacetime?

Calls to premium or special service numbers, including but not limited to satellite phone numbers, directory assistance and 19xx services

——-I think Ive made my point..

        • +2

Thanks Turd. your comment is valid. Some users were discussing few comments about mine that plan is loaded with $ value. So i read through terms & condition on lebara website and thought to share it with everyone.

        • Which plan do you have?

I currently have RBM, and it's ending soon. But it's been so great!

        • had amaysim $20 per month plan and then now with hellomobile…

        • Didn't neg you but I didn't see your post as being relevant to value considering these conditions are more or less the same as many other low cost plans.

    • I didn't neg your comment but all of those exclusions i had already assumed. I still believe its worth it. If you can find a better deal out there right now let me know

      • +1

I am not saying that deals is not good. luke73 and luc73 were talking about loaded value in plan so thought to clarify it from lebara website.

        • oh ok I misunderstood

  • +1

just called Lebara agent Mitchell(checked with his supervisor) said sims OK even after a year

    • Did you ask if sim has got any $value?

  • This is a bargain? Glad I got the Vaya $12 plan while the getting was good. More calls than I could make plus 1.5 GB data.

  • For my money and usage (basically a data pig) I still think you can't go past Vodafone 30 Cap:

    The relevant bits are:

    $450 credit
Calls are pretty expensive (I don't make many calls so it's fine for me)
    "Unlimited" SMS
    500GB data

Now for the part which make it the best plan for me:

You buy addon packs from the credit that's already paid for at the rate of $16 per 350MB - this usually means I get about 9.5GB per recharge. Note that you must "purchase" addon packs over and over, I usually just add one a day or as needed til my credit gets low.

The addon data doesn't expire and is carried over to the next recharge.

Note that if you're after a data only plan Pennytel will give you a Vodafone Sim with 14GB for $25 - I've been meaning to see if I could live without calls/sms using Voip and whatever SMS system for a bit now.

    • +1

      R u sure it's 500GB data? Doesn't sound right… Or rather sound too gd to b true.

    • Wow, 500GB! That's awesome!
I want that one, but computer says no -
      http://www.vodafone.com.au/personal/prepaid/home/options/30-…
      2. If you go over your 500MB allowance you will be charged an additional rate of $2/MB.

  • can't order, is the page not working?

    Statuscode: 500 | Supportcode: mcw83c2

  • I have used Lebara before. They were pretty good, the only problem was setting up the mobile data. Once I realised why it was not working, one of their call centre folk talked me through it in about 5 mins.
Voda worked fine at my place, so I was pretty happy with the deal.

  • wow, I ended up buying nearly $180 valued sim packs (2x each), I now can combine with my Boost sim packs to save heaps over one and a half or two years, bargain, thanks OP!

    • +1

Do you know the expiry of these sims? The Groupon voucher says expiry is July

      • too late now lol, but it's alright coz I can share in family ;), thanks for reminding me anyway

  • -1

Doubly good value compared to 1st month AmaySims; for voice types missing only data /4G access.

    • -1

(40.00 x 75%) / 15.00 = 2: for the mathematically inept. So combine as with Boost. Me, I recharge my grandfathered deal which yields 17+Gb..for a touch more than $1.50gb on special. Ahh-yeah :)

  • Why the hell doesn't Groupon state they charge in a foreign currency?

  • I think this offer is still on….. Changed City got this http://www.groupon.com.au/deals/sydney/gg-lebara-mobile/7181…

    Anyone gonna try it?

  • I don't see any expiry date when it came in the mail? It might be possible to stock up

  • I just ordered it in the morning still working.
    Thanks OP.

    • Hi,
Did you order using the link I supplied?

      • No, I used the original one. Get sim cards today.

  • Has anyone got theirs yet? I havent got mine!

OMG so I checked the tracking and it looks like mines been sitting at the post office for over a month. I never received any cards or anything.

    (profanity) you Australia Post

    • yep got mine a long time ago
