All offers received by email should be activated (whether you think that you will use it or not) EG Woolworths and Coles. You just never know!

5 Qantas Points per eligible purchase completed with your Debit MasterCard

    How can one rort this?

    • Pretty easy one would think.

      Though I'm worried about-
Qantas Points are not accrued on:
      - transactions we decide are disputed due
to being fraudulent or which involve an
      abuse of your Account or any Card;
      - any other transactions which from time
to time may be excluded by us.

      Make hundreds of $1 transactions

    • +3

go to self serve checkout at safeway, chose multipay option, then process 1c transactions…you could be there all day doing this. 5pointa per 1c transaction possibly means 200 1c transactions for a 2lt Woolies milk??!!

If this method works, that in itself is 1000 Qantas points for a 2lt milk. And probably 315 kilometres of register receipt!

      • Haha, anyone tried this?

  • +1

if you apply the option to deposit $4000 per month, you have more benefits too, such as extended 12 month warranty, insurance for theft or loss of your purchase etc, the Platinum one I think

    • Yeah, I chose this option. I'm curious of what's gonna happen if you can't deposit the minimum amount ($4000/month).

      • +1

I don't know either but I will just put $1000 per week and withdraw then re-deposit throughout the month till 5 months (until I get the $50, Q points for Woolworths gift card) then see if I should keep up with it

          Hi We B The Rapist,

Make it a scheduled transfer for ease!

        • +1

          LOLOLOLOLOL

        • I think you will find transfers dont count, according to the PDS

        • What it says in the PDS is "A deposit, for these purposes, does not include interest earned on any account which you have requested to be deposited to this account or any amount swept from another account to this account by Bankwest in accordance with the terms of that other account."

What exactly does "amount swept from another account to this account" mean?? Regardless, they have this same statement in the PDS for the Bankwest Zero transaction account, and I can personally verify that just transferring the amount in from another Bankwest account counts, as that's what I've been doing for the past few months.

So its going to cost us $10 (to close the account) in order to earn 10000 Qantas frequent flyer points?

Does that sum it up in a nut shell?

    • +1

Free if you close at a branch.

  • Thanks Bharrop. wasn't aware about account closing fees.
@jackofspade - Where it says free if closed in branch.

    • The $10 fee is under the "Funds outward" section. I'd imagine it's for the payment of you your closing balance by bank cheque etc and probably won't be applicable if you've emptied it out beforehand or get them in cash if you close the account at a branch.

Chatted with an online rep just now, she sent me a link to the PDS, just in case anyone needs this ->

  • Their 0.01% interest rate is sad. Maybe there is legislation that says that they can't pay you zero !

    • +1

0.1% is normal for a transaction account. This account has bonuses on top. Neg is unhelpful

    • +1

If your neg is just for the interest rate then I reckon not valid. As grasstown has said, 0.01% interest rate for an everyday transaction account is very normal. This deal isn't posted for its interest rate anyway, that was never the selling point.

      • Oops! I clicked on the wrong one! BUmmer! The + and - are close together on the screen and I stuffed up. I have taken up the offer. A great deal of thanks and a big Sorry to the OP. I don't know how to reverse my negative. I think that it is a great offer. In my post I was just making the observation about this and a lot of other types of accounts and their interest rates. I think that anyone who goes to effort of posting a deal, whether poor, good or a great deal, deserves a + for the effort.

        • LOL…. oh ok.
You can revoke the neg by clicking on votes up the top, and then there's a button for you "Revoke" your vote.

        • Thanks. I am still learning, even after many years.

  • Is it $2000 per calendar month or every 30 days since you opened the account?

    • This is what I would like to know

      • +2

calendar month excluding the month you open the account

        • reference please. Cheers :)

You still need to deposit $2000 per month for the first 3 months in order to qualify for the promo regardless whether the fee is applicable for the first month or not.

        • Yep, you might be right too, i was referring to the monthly fee only.

I think i will hold on till 1st of may just to be sure i get the points without rushing with transfers with all these upcoming public holidays.

  • does it mean you have to deposit $2000 for up to 5 months to get the 10,000 bonus points?

    • +2

For the 10,000 points, you need to deposit $2k for 3 months. However they say it can take another 2 months for them to give you the points so if you don't deposit $2k in months 4 and 5, they will charge you a $6 monthly account keeping fee.
