A true ozbargainer would stockpile cans when on special at the supermarket, then use all the money saved spending 50c a can vs $4 a bottle at JB :)

    • +7

A true ozbargainer does stockpile cans when on special. The labels come from friends and empty bottles left in food courts etc

      • +4

a true OZBargainers would spend none for Coke coz its not healthy plus with the amount you gonna spend, would be enough to be considered as 'saving' or 'discount' whatever ways you want :)

      • yep and you can use your mobile phone camera (3MP+) to take a photo of the inside code.. You don't even need to touch the bottle at all.

    • +11

Actually they would collect the bottles from the street and get the labels, then get a $1 flight to Adelaide to get some cash for the bottles.

      • -5

The bottles technically have to be sold in the state to claim the refund.

        • +6

They'd have no idea where they were sold. They don't make special bottles/cans just for SA.

      • +1

then get a $1 flight to Adelaide

Now that is just ridiculous. What's the maximum weight of hand luggage you can take on the plane?
That limits the number of cans you can claim on x10c refund = the return for your time of taking the flight.
Probably wouldn't even pay for your transport to the airport.

        • +3

Ahhh, but a true ozbargainer lives in tullamarine and walks to the airport.

        • +5

I couldn't leave that question hanging and had to answer it.
Let's assume that a crushed aluminium can takes up less volume than a crushed plastic bottle - and would therefore be easier to carry as well as providing the maximum possible return.
An average 375ml can weighs ~15gms
Maximum combined weight of cabin baggage on a Tiger flight is 10kg
Meaning you could take ~666 cans in two plastic bags - also assuming they were compacted enough to fit into the dimensions of 54cm X 38cm X 23cm allowed for Cabin baggage.
The deposit scheme would return you $66.6 - assuming you can un-compact them into single items.
The closest collection depot is 4.4kms away. You could walk this in ~1hr, so 2hrs return + time to be served.
That is certainly a premium to the maximum of $11 you would receive by taking the 10kgs to a scrap metal merchant.

        • So when you consider that cans don't have a code and you have to collect the bottles which take up more volume than cans, then the return will be lower.

        • Never has there been a more fitting clip.

        • I dont think weve meet yet, but I want you to have my babys.

    • +2

you don't get tokens with cans

    • A true ozbargainer would be on OzBargain…. Can we settle for that?

  • -1

Not worth it in my opinion. Better wait for coles/myer reward card or hoyts movie ticket.

    • Isn't the value the same for coles/myer and JB?

Also I got the hoyts tickets in the past, but they expired before I could use them.

      • +2

My guess is that you dont go to the movie very often. Also you can sell the movie ticket to your friend or family(or just give it out). People i know gladly paid $10 for the ticket because the ticket is a premium ticket, available for both extremescreen and 3D movie with no weekend restriction.

The coles and myer reward is much better since it give you more option to where to spend Myer/OfficeWork/Coles/LiquorLand/target. You can always spend it on everyday groceries at coles if you have nothing you really want to buy. With JB gift card your are restricted to spending specifically at JB. Most of their stuff is usually over price. It's only good if you are planning on buying something from JB that is the cheapest at that time. If you are just redeeming just for the sake of spending points then it's not worth it.

    • OP: "Pepsi to go"

    • +1

And a pepsi is asking for a coke code…

  • +1

For those interested and never looked into the Coke Rewards before. Looks like you get 10 tokens per label unless specified otherwise.
    So 20 bottles = $10 aka 50 cents a label.
Pretty decent provided you dont have to drink all the coke yourself.

    • +2

Also if you work in a restaurant, or as a cleaner of some sporting venue (assuming they dont sell cans).

  • +1

    Come on coles-myer cards!!!!!!!

  • Sorry could someone explain to me how this coke reward works

    • well on the back of coke bottles, diet coke, etc.. there are codes you can enter on the coke website. basically 1 coke label = 10 points.

In this case 20 coke labels lets you redeem a $10 voucher at JB-hifi.

    • Sorry could someone explain to me how this coke reward works

On the inside of each label is a unique code. Once you have joined up, simply log into your account and for each code you enter, you will recieve 10 tokens (points.) There's a weekly limit of 10 codes per week, so it takes time to accumulate enough points to claim a reward.

There is an online 'store' of what rewards are available. Once you purchase a reward with your tokens, they either email or post it out to you. It usually takes a couple of months for prizes that are sent through the mail to arrive, so don't order physical gift cards expecting them to arrive the following week.

We need a coke rewards wiki to help those poor people out every coke rewards post

    • +3

Or a Coke Rewards Wiki that we all subscribe to so that Coke Rewards posts don't have to be made at all?

  • Im aiming for the $50 dollar voucher. I haven't spent 20 dollars on coke since I started.

Easter show was great, picked up 20+ bottles off the ground.

I acquire the others in less ethical means

  • Does anybody know if you can stack these vouchers together? I.e. combine a number for one purchase.

    • +1

According to the usage instructions on the e-card, it doesn't state anything about multiple cards. But that may well be stated in the t&c

    • +1

yes you can stack multiple ones instore…not sure how many u can use in one transaction online

      • You can use two together for an online transaction, or at least that's the way it was last time I looked; and an nlimited number instore.

    • I finally used 2 yesterday and yes I did stack them.

  • Do you get codes for 24pack of cans?
    :( i have 3 boxes

    • Some special promotional pack does but most other dont. Look for a card on the card board that seperate the two layer of cans. If there is nothing there then nope you didnt get any code.

  • Have about 10 labels ready to go but have 2500 points already in the bank.

  • These are e gift cards.

does it mean only for the online store?

    • +1

nah you can use them in-store too :)

      • Yeah but you have to print them out. I tried using it via my phone but they won't accept it in that form :(

        • Actually you can just show them on your phone.I have successfully did it at two stores. It did take a while to buy a $95 item due to me having like 7 $10 voucher, 1 $20 voucher and $5 cash.

  • Kool now I can get some vouchers. Thanks OP

  • Hope movie tix are put up soon

  • ahh well i decided to stop hoarding coke points and start on some shiny jb cards, wooo hoo $150 coming my way, plus my b day cards….. can you see me faning myself with cards. lol
