VOSS Water 800ml (Sparkling Mineralised Water) $3.99 Woolies Melbourne QV

160

@ Woolies Melbourne QV store and spotted this.

Voss sparkling mineralised water 800ml.

I think the novelty is in the bottle.

Previously these were $4.20 at DAN MURPHY but $3.99 is cheapest I have seen for.

Same price at Woolies Gasworks, Brisbane too. Probably nationwide I suppose.

  • saw these for roughly this price at woolies acacia ridge, brisbane back when the dan murphys one came about. 800 ml is too big and heavy to use as a drink bottle. anybody seen the smaller sized ones around?

    • Depends on how you use it. On my desk its ok. But I wouldn't want to use it as a portable drink bottle, not just it being larger and heavy. I don't fancy glass shards in my bag if I were to drop my bag.

There are smaller bottle around as well, not sure where I saw it.

    • some coles have them, (e.g. Southgate NSW) but i carry my 800ml one everyday to work without problems

    • I am looking for the 350ml bottles as well but couldn't spot one in VIC

      • I have one. I bought it in Coles in Port Melbourne (somewhere around there). I also saw them in Glen Waverley in one of those fancy pants groceries stores… I think it was $10 for 4. Or $2.89 for 1

    • Coles have the smaller ones for $3

    $5 a litre for water.

Glad my car doesn't run on water then… :P

    • Glass bottled water it is.

    • $40k for a Mazda 3 SP25 hatchback.

Why doesn't everyone just buy $12k Suzuki Altos?

After all they both get you from A to B and are otherwise exactly the same, right.

      • Depends though, with cars it is different.

I remember there was a blind test done, where they compared tap water to bottled water, and the test found that people cant really tell the difference, or found that tap water tastes better.

        • +2

Sounds like that blind test was poorly conducted with no scientific method with a small sample size!

I can easily tell the difference between tap and good bottled water, and so can many others. Tap water from different regions taste very different too.
It is also quite easy to tell the difference between different brands of bottled water.

I prefer tap water to many bottled waters, but some brands of bottled waters taste much, much better than tap water. The absolute worst is restaurants who keep tap water in open jugs in a fridge shared with other items. Ugh!

In the same vein, some people are perfectly happy with a $5 pub steak while others prefer Blackmore wagyu. Just because some people can't tell the difference doesn't mean there's no difference. ;)

Yep never been to ADELAIDE eh ;)

        • But people are not buying this for the water, going by the comments. People are buying purely for the bottle.
Saw these in Coles. The bottle looks ok but the plastic top looks cheap.

        • Yeah, the bottle is a good selling point. A friend gave me a full bottle to try. I finished it and replaced my old aluminium water bottle with it. Glass is a better insulator than aluminium so the water remains cooler longer.

The top does feel a bit cheap, but since I leave my bottle at work, I don't use the top!

        • If the system they use to clean the water is this one then supposedly it tastes the same according to various sources on the web.

  • Magic water, V. O. S. S.

  • Has anyone seen the smaller bottles on sale?

    • I've seen them at the Wine Emporium.
      (Gasworks Brisbane)

    • Saw both at Coles Noosa Heads a few weeks back.

    • Yes I've seen then on sale. (But not at bargain prices.)

    • I meant on special, but that doesn't seem to be the case! I have seen them at several coles for about 3.30.

  • Does anyone know if these VOSS bottles are okay/safe to use with hot/boiling water?

    • I've put boiling water in my smaller VOSS bottle. Seems fine to me…

    • I put boiling water in mine… I always worry about it cracking due to the temparature change so I always fill mine over the sink.
