Saw this new Sony Alpha 6000 on display (still sealed in box) at Town Hall Sound Center today for just $899.

Seems like the cheapest at this stage, JB had cheaper at $849 due to their 15% off sale which now has finished.

Note that this shop is closing down today! So you better grab it quick while its still there.

This is a good price, most other places are in the $950-960 range. You can get the same price at DigiDirect though

Shame to see Town Hall Sound Centre go….

    • DigiDirect has been actively reduced their prices to be cheaper than anyone else, hopefully other retailers will follow suit to make the price more reasonable.

A Tribute for Town Hall Sound Center and Gordon the nice store rep. Been a customer since 2002, wishing the staff there all the best.

  • Slightly cheaper ($20) than SonyX prices which is good.

Sony allows you to add the following lenses for cheaper though:
    SEL55210B - $199
    SEL50F18B - $249

May work out cheaper getting it there, depending if you were to get extra lenses or not at the same time.

  • Anyone have experience with this camera? I'm using the NEX 5n. I'm contemplating upgrading to this or getting a lens instead.

  • I managed to negotiate JB down to about $830 just recently on this camera. Very nice camera IMO.

  • Not the cheapest, it was for $845 at JB and at Camerahouse for $849.

    • already mentioned JB on the description above, and $18 shipping from your site.

      • Even with $18 shipping it's still cheaper :)

        • I know, but first time I heard about the gibby store.

  • Anyone know the cheapest way to get the Sony alpha 5000??

      $480 via grey imports, T-Dimension.
      $580 via SonyX
Prob can get it for around $550-580 if you haggle at a store.

Both kit comes with 16-50mm OSS Power Zoom Lens (SELP1650)

      • Thanks heaps for the reply!

I'm trying to look at sonyX but can't seem to find it for 580. Do you have to be a member to get that price??

        • yes, you do and don't even think you can get one as it's limited to a few applications per year and I guess worth submitting one but you need to be patient.

        • ah damn, thanks for your help!

  • Did Gordon says where they moving to, or closing up good? Didn't go yesterday so I didn't say goodbye :(

    • I think they are closing down. Same with the one in Melbourne CBD.

    • he said closing down good, though he will open new shop somewhere else with something else.
