This would be for 4 people.

      It says up to 10.

For two people you would only spend around $80?

Who says 2 people HAVE to spend $80?

Which mean you would lose out by $20?

      Why are we losing anything?

  • -1

oh i didnt know they have one at prymont. too bad the bondi one is close

  • +17

Don't know what's its like in Sydney, but went to one in Adelaide and it was awful…food overpriced and extremely average!
The price of $49 for $100 would be what it is actually worth.

    • +11

One of the most overrated places to eat on earth - Dont waste your money!

    • +1

I went to the one at Nelson bay and it was awful too. Waaaay overpriced

    • +1

It definitely varies from place to place - the Parramatta joint was rundown and the food was a fair way below average whereas the fairly recently opened Pyrmont store had great service coupled with surprisingly decent food. nutcase recommends the Pyrmont one in Sydney if you guys are going to hop on this deal

      • I agree, depends which day/night you go, which restaurant you go to and if on any given day/night they get there act together or don't. It is all pretty random which accounts for random experiences.

  • +1

How big are their steaks? They look tiny on the menu (and yes, I know the pictures are not to scale…)

    • Small cows

    • +1

they look tiny on a plate too

  • +2

Any recommendations for better steaks in Melbourne? Preferrably south-east area.

  • +2

Don't go to steer… Overrated and overpriced

  • +2

    Just got the $89 voucher.

  • after learning about sous vide cooking, is that what they do to their steaks? They advertise "18hr cooked steak"

    • +19

      They advertise "18hr cooked steak"

I think that's part of their guarantee, that the steak they serve you has been cooked within the last 18 hours.

    • +7

I love cooking sous vide. Their steaks are not cooked sous vide. I have no idea if their steaks are actually cooked for 18hrs. They are simply horrible steaks.

The last few times I was dragged to a Hogs Breath by mates, I ended up eating fish and chips there

    • +1

Slowcooked in brine. Definitely not sous vide. Gives them almost cooked meat to sear & serve. Not a premium method by any means.

      • Slowcooked in brine.

        Isn't that technically 'pickled'?

  • +4

Terrible food, even at half price.

    • +4

Agreed, I worked for them a while back and can say their hygiene practices are appalling, not to mention the inconsistency of food and service, complaints every night, it's all about the bottom dollar with these guys. Personally I would never eat there.

      • +1

I am by no means an expert with steak, but I do like hogs breath steaks. I find it much better than ribs and rumps or outback. I go to the blacktown hogs breath, and never had a bad experience. First tried hogs breath at the gold coast, and have been going to hogs breath since. I realise taste is subjective.

  • -6

Anyone who is saying something negative about Hogs Breath steaks is just a negative person.

Unlike other restaurants you get a steak that you know is going to be tender and nice tasting etc.

Just because its not a fancy amazing steak at this restaurant near you it doesn't mean its a bad place.

There are more restaurants with Steak worse then Hogs Breath then there are those that are better.

    • +5

I disagree. Their steaks are certainly not worth the price they slap on their meals.

Sure, they aren't the worst steaks out there.. but for what they're charging, I can get an infinitely better steak elsewhere guaranteed every time.

    • +4

If Hogs breath was strictly a restaurant that strictly sold steaks I might agree, but had their schnitzel which was below average and their curly fries were nothing special either.

    • -1

the $5 steak at my local pub is definitely worse. but the other $10 one across the street is way better.

      • Lol, I remember when Lansdowne Hotel (Broadway) $5 steaks were around. Best things on the planet!

    • I didn't say Hogs Breath was good value for money but there are plenty of places that aren't that ozbargain doesn't hate, no idea why you guys have to hate on a restaurant so much that is offering you 50% off in this deal.

Think of it this way, they are a mainstream steak place that is consistent all around Australia.

Surely I'm not the only one who has actually been to restaurants and had horrible steaks…

Everyone is saying how their $10 steak/chips/salad is better then Hogs Breath which I really doubt, the only places I've had extreme value on a high quality steaks are Casinos… for obvious reasons.

Again, Hogs breath is like a 5/10, there are plenty of places that are lower and charge just as much.

  • +4

Had some rubbish steaks from Hogs Breath. The local pub does a way better steak w/chips and salad for a tenner.
Some of their other food is good but yeah, don't bother with their steaks.

    • Js Kitchen in Cabramatta - $10 Steak + chips and salad

      • I can/could one up that… Macquarie - The Ranch, if i remember, they had $6 steak + chips + beer… ah good times in uni.

Not sure if they still have them =(

  • +2

I reckon it's a reasonable deal. $49 to cover dinner out for a young family.

Here's the menu to help you plan for your $100 meals: http://www.hogsbreath.com.au/main-menu/our-menu

    Example orders:
    * Mom: Chicken Dijonnaise $25
    * Dad: Char-Grilled Pork Cutlet $33
    * Kid: Fish & Chips $25
    * Sundae x 2 $18

    • +1

      No drinks? :P

    • where is the steak?

      • +3

You don't order steak at Hog's Breath.

  • +1

Never had a bad meal from Hoh's Breath Cafe.

Eaten at Brisbane CBD, Cleveland, South Port, Sydney/Blacktown, Geelong, Ballarat and Melton a number of times.

If you didn't like Hogs Breath I do believe is something wrong with you!

    • Well I've only ever eaten there once but my wife's steak was overcooked and my ribs were cold.

      • +2

Did you consult a doctor afterwards about your ribs?

  • Went there 3 times. First time steak was cold. Second time it was burnt. Third time it was cold again. Props to them for not closing down yet considering how bad their food is

  • +1

Used to smash $600 through the register in one sitting at Roma St. Then they started attending to other customers and would leave us last. Not worth it…

The owner has an absolute attitude and so do the staff, they think their s**t don't stink!

  • +4

Hog's Breath is fine dining for bogans IME! ;)

  • Does the coupon need to be used in one go? or if the bill is less than 100 can be used later?

    • As per the terms you forfeit what you don't use, so its best to get as close to $100 or $200 as you can.

  • Only 52% rating at urbanspoon, I would not recommend this restaurant as it has poor quality food, bad customer service and overpriced food, even heard of some food makes you feel sick. been there once never again.

Why you think a newly opened place is on scoopon? Cause the food is horrible.

isn't it rubbish food marketed for 10 year olds?

    • what sort of 10 year old eat steak lmao

    • -2

      Enjoy the revoked neg.

  • I'm a regular outdoor diner and this has to be the one of the worse restaurants here, There are far more better places for your hard earned money, 2mins away in harbourside hardrock cafe would be a better choice or pancakes at the rocks.but in
Going to give this deal a plus since its half price for the voucher, still wouldn't purchase it even if its free.

  • Thanks got one

  • Great food at Parramatta, one of the most consistent places.

    • I bought voucher for parramatta. I hope it is good as blacktown.

      • Have never tried Blacktown, have been to Parramatta <20 times. Only ever had one issue, made a complaint and they sent me vouchers.

        • Make a post :P

  • -1

Dreadful, dreadful food. I would sooner eat my own vomit than eat there.

    • +2

I'd even pay you to see that.

      • +1

        Me too.

  • +2
    • +2

Hmm a business protecting their name, woah dude!

    • lol…maybe The Rocks council should sue Pancake on the rocks for using their name too

      • But place names can't be a registered trade mark. Your comment makes no sense whatsoever.

    • +3

Disgusting… hogs breath can suck it.

  • -6

Not even worth $49. Absolute rubbish.

  • Not worth the price.
Used to visit the castle hill branch, but the last 2 time we went there the steak was rubbish.
    Both were burnt and dry.
Asked the waiter about the burnt steak, he said it's meant to be cooked like that.
What make it worse, we took 6 of our friends at that time (which all have the same bad food).

Decided not to complaint any further and never came back.

    • As long as you don't tell us you ordered a well done steak which I wouldn't be surprised it came out like that and serves yourself right, otherwise if it was medium or below then I feel bad for you for your experience.

  • +1

So you gotta book in advance to use it or just rock up?

  • +1

I went to the Castle Hill one a few times.and the food are generally quite good. Price wise it is not the cheapest but compare to local pubs, it is reasonable priced. And with this deal it is almost 50% off. So its not too bad.

  • +2

Dont mind hogs breath at all. Its one of our go to restaurants as its always consistant.

I dont expect amazing steaks. If i want a really nice steak, ill go to the Cut. I know what to expect from here and generally always get it.

Maybe we got lucky as alot of people seem to have a bad experience with hogs breath

    • That's exactly why I like Hogs Breath, consistency. I go there about once a month and end up spending about $40 between two people, which I find totally reasonable for two decent burgers and a couple of drinks.

      • That's exactly why I like Hogs Breath, consistency.

Consistently bad isn't much of a selling point though, eh?

        • If hogs breath is consistently bad.. what do you call the places that have steak 10x worse?

Steaks where half of it is fat/grissle, they don't know how to cook rare or medium rare and you could ask for it to be rare and it still wouldn't be tender.

        • If hogs breath is consistently bad.. what do you call the places that have steak 10x worse?

I'm sorry bro, I simply cannot answer that. I can honestly say that I've never had a worse dining experience than the three different Hog's Breath restaurants I've tried…period! Even the cheapest $5 counter-lunches I've had have been of higher quality & generosity!

HB is grossly overpriced, stingy serves, mediocre food & piss-poor service…my colleagues & friends now know to not bother booking one of these dumps for our get-togethers, thankfully.

Make of that what you will…

        • Sam, I honestly love Hogs Breath @ Parramatta.
Been there once so far and I loved the food.

However; I've been to two different ones up at Central Coast and Terrigal and their steak was piss-poor. It may be a franchise but the quality of food is on varying levels. I think that these people weren't so lucky in the restaurant.

        • Bubba gump is the worse restaurant I've ate at. Been to hogs breath once, it was average at best considering price. Rather go spend $10 for pub or rsl meal.

  • Scoopon extended their deal, please re-adjust expiry date?

  • Wow! 6 more days, if they are going to sell lots, I feel sorry for full price paying customers.

  • This deal should be available to use, this week :)
