SYD/OOL to London/Paris Return Dublin from $790 (PER from $717) on Etihad + Scoot

2030

Hey guys,

Recently I was interested in seeing how cheap a return flight to Europe from Australia could be. I saw this post in early January and using a few tips from that thread, some of my own knowledge as well as Scoots current sale to Singapore I have managed to get return flights from Brisbane to Paris, returning from Dublin down to $800.

The way this deal works is fairly simple, it involves two booking and very little trouble. Etihad Airways offers flights from Singapore to certain destinations in Europe for an absolute steal, to put the cherry on top they also allow you to fly back directly to Australia from Abu Dhabi. This means the only other flight you have to worry about is the very first one you have to take, which is to Singapore (or another SE Asian destination – I’ll get to that soon). So once you have the first flight out of the way, it is smooth sailing.

However, to get the price I quoted above you have to do one thing; you have to fly into Paris and out of Dublin, which makes for an easy holiday if you plan on going from Paris to Dublin via London. However, if you don’t plan on visiting Dublin during your stay it is still easy to get there, a flight on RyanAir, EasyJet or GermanWings (all LCCs) will cost you no more than $50 and in many cases $20, Ryan Air currently has flights from London and Manchester for 10 Pounds.

So now that I have the explaining out of the way I’ll get down to the nitty gritty of the deal – the dates and flight plan. I’ll lay it out below using my situation, I am flying from the Gold Coast on Scoot using their most recent sale, heading to Paris and then returning from Dublin.

OOL – SIN $169
October 26
Flying Scoot, lands in Singapore at 3:30PM, plenty of time to do customs and check in for the Etihad flight at 8:20PM

All flights below total: $621

SIN – CDG
October 26
Flying Etihad with a 2 hour stop in Abu Dhabi

DUB – BNE
21 November
Flying Etihad with 2 short stopovers in Abu Dhabi, then again in Singapore (the stop in Singapore will continue on to Brisbane on Etihad metal, the stop here has nothing to do with the Scoot leg to get to Europe – it is just the route Etihad chooses to fly to get to Brisbane).

Tip: This deal isn’t just out of Singapore! You can fly a similar price out of Tokyo as well, so if you manage to score some Jetstar flights from MEL, OOL or CNS to Tokyo you can also take advantage of this deal and score yourself some time in beautiful Japan!

If you have any questions or would like to add anything to the deal please do post in the comments, hope you guys like this one as I have spent quite some time researching and confirming everything here.

Thanks!

Edit: Added Perth to the mix as flights on Scoot are only $119 + Etihad for $598

  • If anyone finds a good deal over xmas/ny to Europe please post!

  • Thanks Madge and Eeples! Had not considered Manchester!

  • anyone find a good price to Tokyo from sydney?

  • Bertfair, Have you looked at a cheap flight, Jetstar or Royal Brunei to BKK and then J with Finnair, Mon to Thursday only?
They also have a single business seat row of seats near the window on one side of plane. they had a really cheap return fare for about AU2500 a few weeks ago. Might repeat it later.
Also liked the fact you could fly on almost anywhere in Europe and return from another place in Europe . Could book on line or through Sydney office. JoyV

    • Looked at fares after mid August 2014 -just checked Royal Brunei Mel to BKK return AU745 in Y
Finnair BKK to Vienna and Hamburg to BKK in J AU 2455
Total $3198. I have rounded off some of fares by a dollar or two.
If you want you can do a combined Y and J on return flight with Royal Brunei for about an extra $500 or so.

You could also do Jetstar but it arrives at older airport and you have to pay for all the extra add-ons which are included in Royal Brunei. Sri Lankan airlines J class is much cheaper but doesn't offer the other European city stops and does not offer a daily service. will fly you to FRA.

The dates I chose include overnight stay in BKK I use The cottage hotel, close and offers transfers, clean and small lap pool for $40 but not necessary on way home as Finnair arrives at 07.15 and Royal Brunei departs at 13.30.

Not sure how you go after collecting luggage , guess you have to exit and then go back in through immigration again.

  • any melbourne to europe destination deals?

  • Now I just need to book my flights from Sydney to Singapore, I wish I had booked it a few days ago when it was $189. Last night it suddenly jumped to $219 when I was going book, and now its $259 :(

Not sure whether to wait for a sale for Syd to singapore or just book now at $259 to avoid further price increases :(

    • I hear you, i'm in the same boat. That was the mother's day sale and ended on 12th so will just keep an eye for the next one

      • Would you know when there will be sales for sydney to Singapore flights?

        • they do them every week, some are better than the others tho

        • So would you just subscribe to all airline newsletters and check weekly? Do you reckon it would get better than $259?

        • +1

There's no guarantee but i certainly hope so. both scoot and airasia run sales very often and they compete for the same customers. i know scoot has a sale every tuesday morning for a few hours, but they also run other sales, as they did last weekend.

So keep an eye out on your inbox and stay positive :)

        • Thanks for encouragement :)
Did you say every Tuesday? Our Australian time or their Singapore time?
          Oh hell yes fingers crossed!

    • Jetstar has their take a friend for free coming up so

    • that is great price. date please? also which website?

      • It was the Jetstar Birthday sale this afternoon

  • Can I get some ideas on best sites to use to book hotels in Great Britain, Ireland, Italy, Greece and France. Thanks

  • -1

they have all gone up now

    • They are quick negs,

I meant to say back to perth they are $760 now instead of $565

    • +1

And they are back down again.

You are right - from Fri afternoon they all went up around $200 per flight, but as of today, they've dropped back down to original levels (lower in some cases) and there are plenty around the $600 mark SNG-PAR/ROM/LON-DUB-SYD/BNE and even cheaper returning to Perth. Of course, the Scoot sale for $190 one way to Singapore is over, but they are a regular occurrence.

  • what's the cheapest option syd to lhr in november now?

    • Airasia to KL $200 (+ food/bags) then Vietnam airlines to Gatwick $390
      That's one way

    • Head over to kayak.com and select multicity in their flights section. Then start playing with dates Flying Singapore to LHR and returning DUB to SYD.

There aren't many days where LHR is the cheapest to fly into, so if you want the overall cheapest (and a decent trip) try flying into PAR and then taking the Eurostar for EU$40 from Paris to London. Of course, you'll still need to find a flight from SYD to Singapore at the front end of your trip, but as others have said - they are a fairly regular occurrence and you have over 6 months to find one.

All told, you should be able to get something for little over $800 per person return.

      • if ebookers safe?

      • i can't find cheap flights returning to syd
edit: don't worry - realised the prices were for the 2 people i was booking. awesome deal. booked and thanks OP!

  • THANKS TO MIKEOLOGOS WE ARE PACKING OUR BAGS!!!!!

    $2155 AUD- Etihad leg
$820- AUD (Singapore leg from Melb with Air Asia

Last year we booked return flights to Dublin from great info provided by WEBERKSHIRE AND JOELTI, when I searched for the same flights this year I could not match the price of last year (starting European leg in Singapore/KL) But after following MIKELOGOS post and throwing paris into the equation we are off for the same price (and poor us having to visit Paris!!!)

SO ONCE AGAIN A BIG THANKYOU FOR SHARING!

Still going :) I just booked SIN -> LHR & DUB -> PER for ~$618

    • what dates is this for?

      • 18 Oct - 25 Oct

  • Do you guys book through ebookers or directly with Etihad? It seems direct booking with Etihad is about $20 more.

  • +1

    Thanks to the OP!!

My partner and I have booked the following.

    28th October SIN -> CDG.

We will be staying a week or so in Paris, with the couple of days in Disneyland Paris.
Take the train up to London and spend 2 weeks there with some family.
Train again up to Liverpool, for a few days there.
Take the ferry across to Dublin for another few days.
Sadly no EPL fixtures have been announced, but I am sure there will almost definitely be a game on during my time in London/Liverpool.

    22 November DUB -> AUH.

Stop over in Abu Dhabi for a few days.
Going to grab tickets to the Abu Dhabi F1 GP which is on the 23rd of November.
Then spend a day or two in Dubai as I have never been.

    25th November AUH -> PER.

    Back home.

All for $708 SGD each. Which is about $609 according to XE, or about $611 AUD if you use real world mastercard rates.

    • Just a tip, it would be cheaper to head to Manchester for the flight out to Dublin.

  • Forgot to also mention that we are flying Jetstar to Singapore a couple of days earlier.

Bought a sale fare, but also had to pay for meals, seat selection and baggage.

The baggage was $35each for 25kg. We probably dont need that much on the outbound leg, but 15kg of baggage was still $30. So $5 for peace of mind is worth it.

Also whats fantastic is that Etihad allows 30kg of luggage on all the legs and is not restricted by pieces which will allow both of us to buy plenty of stuff along the way.

  • Just became your 200th upvoter. It makes it so easy to fly out of Australia again. Must resist!

…. Will keep this in mind though. The Ozbarginer is strong in this one!
