Look how much free iOS apps there are on the freebies page

    • +50

No, Apple discriminates by locking iOS into only 1 store.
I guarantee you that Amazon would LOVE to be able to sell apps to iOS users!

    • +3

Brings a smile to normal people.

    • +8

i guess @k is another user who didn't read (but agreed ) to apple's T&C's?

apple wants monopoly on their iOS app sales (via iTunes) and no where else.

if you are missing out on freebies, don't blame others, blame apple.

    • k discriminating against other bargain site users.

    • -5

Apple users are affluent anyway and don't need freebies & handouts.

      • +5

        Apple users are mostly posers.
They may well earn sweet FA.

      • +8

you spelt it wrong, its effluent, not affluent ;)

    • lol cry more

    • +2

You choose to overpay, not Amazon's fault.

    • Amazon discriminating against iOS users.

Or maybe Apple is discriminating against Android users by not selling apps on Android..

Whats good to get? any suggestions?

    • +4

i would say use it as a discount for the android minecraft…

    • +1

Nothing stood out for me in the top 100 paid apps. Claimed the voucher though so hopefully something good shows up before the end of June.

    • +5

I came here with the same question. The top paid list is full of crap, games, crap games. Or I got the app for free during a previous promo.

SwiftKey, Swype, TuneIn Pro, an Office app (I have a couple, have used none of them)?

    • I have a Pebble, so I gave Music Boss a go and so far I'm really happy with it.

      http://www.amazon.com/Reboots-Ramblings-Music-Boss-Pebble/dp…

Prior to installing this, the built-in music control app couldn't handle my MOD player or my Podcast app, but now I've got access to them and my main music program.

  • This is pretty good, can finally get one of the apps which never discounts. SabMobile perhaps…

  • Thanks op :), brought one

  • App of choice has to be TuneIn Radio Pro?

    • Nah bought 5 apps instead…, spread the love… :P

    • +1

Tune In Radio Pro was free recently https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/141455 also through the Amazon app store.

    • This sounds promising TA, does it essentially make your android device into a fully functioning digital radio, capable of 'picking up' any digital radio station in the world? That would be cool, because I've been looking around for a cheap digital radio, so if this would be a $5 method of 'simulating' one on the 'Pendo' tablet which I already own, that would be excellent. A bit like when I realised that I didn't actually need the "WD media player" I almost bought to play my downloaded video files on my TV, I just had to hook the tablet I already owned up to the TV… LOL, silly me.

    • What are the most popular American stations to listen to on this app?

  • +3

    EVERYTHING IS AWESOME!!1

  • Anyone know of a good strategy/adventure-type game (not a MMRP thingy, just a standard game that you go through yourself off-line), that would work on a VERY LOW-END android tablet (specifically, a "Pendo"), and costs ~$5 ?

    • Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery

  • Assume this can't be applied to the Australian Amazon store?

  • Thanks OP

  • Its asking for my CC details. is there a way to remove CC details afterwards?

  • Purchased NRG Player @USD$4.99

  • +1

How do you actually use it to make a purchase?
I made a purchase using the Amazon app and it doesn't seem to have used the credit. It just immediately purchased using my credit card without any confirmation!! :( WTF! Not happy…
    __

Okay, it seems that my order is not yet complete. On the Amazon website it says "payment revision required" for the order I made. When I click on details it gives me an option to pay using my linked credit card for the full price. Am I missing something?

  • Bought Mantano Reader Premium, a PDF and eBook Reader but mostly because it resume last location of PDF files.

    • ???

      Edit: u've revoked your neg.

  • Bought KAYAK pro & Out of Milk. Any other suggestions ? Tripit maybe ?

  • +1

Thank you for your the greatest post. I wanna make sure how to use it. If I buy $5 app in app store, $5 credit be claimed automatically. Am I right?

  • +4

be warn. usually, apps in amazon store (havent check the games) has lower version number compare to the same apps in google play store.
    not sure why

    • +4

Developers usually update the google play store version first I think.

    • hmm, it shows a release date of 2011 on the Amazon Wolfram Alpha, but on Google Play it shows an updated 2013 version. Might be an older one and they're not updating the Amazon version anymore?

      • I think that's the "Original release date". The version number in Amazon (1.3.0.4682607) actually looks higher than that in Google Play (1.3.0.4590401).

    Free is free! Can't complaint.

    Thanks OP.

  • Card wars and scribblenauts hd. Thanks op

      A tad random.

      Either way…
      No review
      No rating
      X no deal X

  • I read this earlier but was busy doing things. Didn't think a virtual $5 coupon could sell out. fml.

  • 300+..I've got one.Thanks OP!

  • +1

Apologies in advance for my ignorance.
How do I get my coupon code? Already got the confirmation for the $5 credit.

    • Now you can purchase things, no need of a coupon.

      • Yeah can't work it either

        • It doesn't appear as credit..
You just have to trust that the $5 is there..
Crappy way to do it, but that's the way it is.
Make sure you "buy" something you actually want so if you get charged for it, you're not too dark.

  • Picked up Minecraft last night for 2 bucks, cheers OP.

  • +2

Got the voucher, I made a purchase but had to download the amazon app and it automatically reverted to an Australian account and have now been charged on my credit card? How am I supposed to use the credit then??

    • -1

Same thing happened to me. Seems you can only use the credit on the US Amazon store.
      Very misleading. Should've negged this!

      • I used mine with my Aus account, no problems.

  • Do Apps purchased through Amazon Appstore update themselves like those downloaded from Google Play? Will you get a notification saying update for App X is available, download it now?

    • I think you have to update it manually meaning they won't give you a notification, you will have to check regularly for updates.

      • +3

Updates can be done automatically when you fire the Amazon Appstore app. There is a setting for it.

From the Home screen, tap Apps, and then tap Store.
Tap the Menu icon, and then tap Settings.

Automatic Updates: When automatic updates are enabled, Amazon Appstore will install new versions of your apps when you're connected to a wireless network. If you select the Notify Me When Updates Are Installed option, you'll see a notification whenever a new version of an app is successfully installed. Updates featuring new or changed permissions will not be automatically installed; you'll have the opportunity to review any new permission before installing the update.

        • -1

          Hence 'I think', lol.

        • Automatic Updates: When automatic updates are enabled, Amazon Appstore will install new versions of your apps when you're connected to a wireless network.

Do you still need to open the app store for it to auto update, or will it do this in the background as long as you're online?

        • Why neg? I didn't hurt anybody's feelings nor was the comment offensive in anyway. Stupid negger.

  • Does anyone even buy Amazon Apps for full price?

    • +1

      me. Full price of $0.

  • Did anyone else have issues with their $5 credit disappearing?

    Edit:
Maybe they were automatically converted to 500 Amazon coins
