  • just used these on flights in the us. great set of headphones. wifey had a pair of beats studios and the logitechs were a lot better, in build quality and sound.

  • I bought one $99 from TGG, but ended up returning it. Turning on noise cancellation produces a high pitched warbling whine that was extremely annoying, so keep that in mind if you're still at the age where you can hear high pitched sounds, (after around 30 years old your ears probably won't be able to detect it.) And of course it's also possible I just had a defective model, but I've seen reviews mention the same thing.

    • I got some from TGG too…mine don't have the whine and my hearing isn't messed up :)

      • It seems to also amp any hissing/whine that already exists from the source.

If your source is clear it should be almost undetectable, but still present.

        • mine have a background pink noise, but still good over all.

Nice bassy cans with average - poor noise cancelling.

          I love mine for gaming.

      • I got the last deal from TGG and mine make a hissing sound as well when you turn on the noise cancelling (and I'm well above 30 :-)). It's well documented on the net people complaining about the hiss. Fortunately, I think they sound better with the cancelling off (the noise cancelling also seems to pump up the bass, which isn't to my personal taste) so I just keep it off. The noise isolation of them is fortunately pretty good.

    • I never turn on the NC on this cans, make the sound unrealistic. Also need an amp to reach it full potential. U should do a research before purchasing it cause head-fi members who own this cans have already warned about the crappy NC mode.

      • It's really subjective, and depends on the music. For some music, the "NC" is great because the music becomes more clear and powerful (strong effortless distortion-free bass, more treble). For other music (e.g. instrumental or vocal), it kills it. I do agree the sound quality depends strongly on what you hook it up to.
The NC helps reduce noise when in a plane, though not hugely.

        • low frequency noise cancelling is ok, high freq is not there…

When amped (on), they're bassy. I'm a basshead and these are my go-to over-ears. If you want clinical accuracy, there are so many products to choose from

  • Cheers OP! Gonna give these a shot, I really want a ANC headphone for flights and stuff and these seems like a decent price for it…

    • +1

      you pay for quality

if you really care about ANC, the Bose QC15 is one of the few products that Bose make which are actually decent

      • Tried the QC15 and the MDR 1RNC MK2 before… i like the sony one better

        • QC15 have excellent noise cancelling - the audio quality is OK but nothing to celebrate

      • I resisted Bose forever, always thinking they were over-hyped. Finally relented and purchased a pair from DJ's for $330 (QC20) and they are amazing. Used them for a long US trip, and after years of trying many others, I'm finally happy!

        • How did you get the QC20 for $330?

  • These seem be on sale for $99 all the time recently. So many choices around the $100 mark. :)

    • None as good as these for the $100 range.

      • If you want big bass.

  • I was tempted by the ATH-M50 $99 deal, how do they compare? It seems the M50 is regarded significantly better.

    • +2

I've heard both. Both are amazing for that price but the UE's are more comfortable and better looking IMO so they win. I don't know where you read the AT are significantly better, I strongly disagree with that.

  • TCG still has it for 99$ delivered. Had just ordered these yesterday from TCG.

  • I purchased one from the last DSE sales and so far do not recommend simply because of the hissing problem. Also doesnt feel very sturdy, creeks sometimes when moved. Also not sure if I got a defective one or not, everything else about the one I got seems fine but sometimes when I change a song I get subtle hissing or "shhh" sounds in the background of the song, changing songs gets rid of it. Strange

Also, note that the play, pause, volume controls only work with Apple devices. Doesnt work with windows phone and some androids

  • I have these and love them, no hissing issues for me. Maybe it's the luck of the draw.

    • dont notice it on mine.

    • Same here. I can very very faintly hear it in absolute silence, but certainly not annoying. As for sturdiness, I think they are great.

    • I actually received mine today, there is a hissing sound but it's only noticable when you don't play anything back.
