    How does the exchange rate compare on Western Union? My folks want to transfer from UK to Aus but reckoned the UK postoffice had the better rate. Maybe this 50% off will make it better

      If transferring to there bank account, I suggest exchange4free. You just enter there details, send, if there country requires info due to tax reasons, they just get a online form via email, once submitted, they get the money.

      Much quicker then via bank that takes 1-2 weeks to get there and then clear.

      You could also try HiFx (www.Hifx.com.au) or one of the Forex traders, you agree a rate and amount then transfer the money to their UK account and they transfer the equivalent to your Australian account, no other fees and same rate as bank. Used them a few years ago, no problems.
