Chromecast is officially for sale in the UK and it looks like Amazon are shipping to AU (unlike the US and CA Amazon stores).

It is ~$65 shipped which is a little steep but still cheaper/similar to eBay sales. If you need more than one or have some friends the price can come down. IE I just ordered four for $51 a piece.

Fishpond have it at $49 but reviews paint them in a terrible light (people ordering in November and receiving it in February). At least with Amazon you know you'll get it before the end of May.

Be aware there are rumours of an AU release of the Chromecast this month, although that may or may not happen. Even if it does it will likely be around the $50 price point anyway.

    Do not hit this, it is expected that google will officially offer this to Australia any day now, and at recent price drop of $30US I would think it would be priced here $40-$45 with delivery.

    What Mike said is true. I have a friend that went to Google's developer's conference a month ago discussing about app development on Chromecast in Sydney. Expect it to release anytime now.

      Nothing if you have apple tv. It is a cheap limited functionality PC to TV streamer.

    don't get it if it's over $45
    the excitement will short live anyway, as not many compatible apks from your phone to take advantage of it anyway.

    Great way to get plex to your tv, but can be got cheaper. I got mine from fishpond, took a month.

      If you have a samsung internet tv, you can get the plex app for samsung - it's what I use and it's perfect.

      i thought it's useful that you can output your desktop/laptop display wirelessly on TV by using Chrome browser to cast entire screen.

        You can stream popcorn time via your Chrome browser, then push that to the Chromecast. :)

    It's $30US on the American store, just use a shipping service, still a hell of a lot cheaper than $65
