Does a socket set fall under "trade workshop'?

        • +2

Nope, I have bought sockets, wratchets and spanners previously when the same specials were on. I'll be looking at more tools this weekend too.

      • Bugger. Batteries are hardly ever included in these deals.

        Thanks for checking.

    • They do offer $15 trade-in of your old battery when you buy a new one from them.

Registered one just in case, haven't received the temp card yet. Thanks OP.

    Received after 20 minutes.

    • I registered last night but still haven't received an email.

  • Do they sell karcher?

Thank for the link I already registered for membership

    • Yes - http://repcoequipment.businesscatalyst.com/cleaning

I don't know about other Repcos but mine will still order in stock if they don't have something when the specials are on and when it comes in I'll just pay the special price when it comes in.

Although they did the same for my mother a while back but they made her pay in advance.

      • I was looking at the exact same thing! would ya'll think the base model 1700psi is enough to clean cars with? just get the rims clean and basic dirt/grit?

never used one before (except at the do it yourself car wash bays), so i'm kind of clueless!

also anyway to attach soap dispensing to it so it sprays soapy water?

        thanks in advance!

        • +1

in my experience, base models, and even mid-range models, arent strong enough to properly clean the car.
it will take any obvious dirt off, but wipe it with a cloth and you'll see how they fail to clean right down to the surface.

that being said, they have enough pressure to take paint off where its chipped or flaking, so….

and most come with an included/optional accessory which is a bottle that goes on the end. you put car wash stuff in and you get soapy water spraying out.

        • oh damn! so i should skip the power washer and stick to the bucket and sponge?

          thanks for the advice!!

        • +4

I spray the car with high pressure hose to get rid of the dirt grit.
Then use sponge and bucket to remove the stuck on grime. This way you don't scratch the paint.

        • +1

I agree with Hothed. It'd be better in theory IMO if you used a power washer at first and then a bucket and sponge later. It'd still save you time and help clean. But doing this means you don't need a really high powered power washer as well…and you're less likely to damage your paint or remove your wax coating or something like that.

        • +1

1700 psi will do you if the price is right, disagree with some of the other comments here,
they do usually have a pressure regulator so dial in whatever pressure you want,
agree wash of, sponge and soap over then rinse, saves a lot of water and do it in 1/2 the time, having a machine with higher pressure makes it also useful around the house - windows, paths and the list goes on. re: enough pressure to take the paint? must be old, respray because never heard of it with domestic pressure washers

  • cheers

Anyone know if they sell a good wheel brush? My brake dust is slowly turning into the colour of depression.

    • cant you just use a sponge?

      • you can but you'd be there sponging away for a while especially if the brake dust is really baked in

      • As long as you never use it on your paint you can, but you can't really get into the drum of the wheel etc to clean it properly.

    • i got my autoglym wheel brush from there once. $30 if i recall correctly

    • imo, a wheel brush is only as good as the wheel cleaner. repco don't sell it but wolf's chemicals deironizer is simply brilliant. http://www.elitecarcare.co.uk/wolfs-chemicals-deironizer-v3-… DM me if you want a 5% off code

Or for local stuff, Bowdens Wheely Clean is good and not too expensive.

        • Yeah i can recommend Bowdens Wheely Clean, reasonable price and works very well. dont need much scrubbing with this stuff, it just turns purple and then your pressure hose it off

        • Thanks! I'll check it out!

  • Awesome, need to get fluids (gearbox and diff) soon so I'll save some cash now..

    thanks OP!

  • great timing! need a new place to get mobil 1 0w40 now supercheap don't stock it anymore

    • +1

For mobil 1 try GL lubricants, they have more varieties and are cheaper.

      • are they by chance mb229.5 approved? i typically go 5w40 in the warmer months and 0w40 for colder months

        • what benz you driving these days?

great deal OP, unfortuntely the staff at my local store are a bunch of idiots. Sent the wife down today to suss out some new spill proof seat covers, and the 3 male staff who were standing around doing nothing never offered to help. Then when asked for help she was told to go to supercheap……

    • +1

Go to sca? These guys must be doing two jobs at a time, or owning the local sca while employed by repco. Smart ass rather than idiots in that case.

  • Was this Lidcombe by any chance? Went there a month ago and it was basically empty. Wandered the aisles for a while looking for a few things and the employees were just talking to each other and disinterested - more interested checking out cars in the parking lot.

  • ha. typical repco. they only the 5L mobil 1 0w40, not 1L bottles like supercheap used to. cheaper for me to buy 3x 1L bottles than 5L

  • how come my local repco in WA don't know anything about this 30% off during weekend?

    • which store?

  • It saved me over $100 today. I asked when I went into the store because it wasn't advertised anywhere, the staff member then asked me if I was the person who had called earlier. I laughed because I figured it would had to have been a fellow OzBargainer.

saved nearly $30 on oil. i confirmed at checkout that they were doing the 30% off for VIP members, one of the staff went "who told you that?" i said "just commodores"…the forum not the car. cars don't talk, silly :p

  • vip in bayswater only 20% not 30% for engine oil, and staff insist on even racv only for 25%.
