If you simply want a functional cheap android tablet then this does the trick. I'm not so sure on the Big W link as the one I bought last time round was this one http://www.nextbookusa.com/productdetail.php?product_id=17 and not that one listed on the website.

It's the same price in store so either inquire online or check on the box. Here is the manual http://www.nextbookusa.com/pdfs/NX007HD8G-MANUAL.pdf

It comes with a pouch and as far as cases go it will fit into a number of generic 7" covers or the standard samsung galaxy tab 2 case, however the camera won't line up and the on/off sneaks under the corner of the shell, so you either nick a bit out or leave it as is, which is no bovver really.

  • Looks alright, although if you are looking for a cheap tablet, apparently you can get an Allwinner A13 for $30.

    • Factories are selling them for around $35 USD (~$55 USD shipped). With such high shipping it's really not worth it to import a single unit.

  • I used one about a year ago ant it was pretty slow and unresponsive. Poor screen.
In saying that, like the op said, it's cheap and functional. It works and is ok if the budget doesn't stretch to over $100. Not sure how it compares to the Pendo pad.

  • I wonder which 'trick' this tablet performs?

  • With coles selling the quad core at 79, this thing is crap and avoid A13 go for A31

    • Why do you say that? It looks similar on paper. - oh, except Android 4.1 .
More cores is not always better, the 1.5GHz A9 will beat the 1GHz A7. But I'd worry more about battery life, where A7 wins.
Is the coles one still at that price?

      • Maybe

I bought the nextbook(click and pay)before the pedopad info appeared in this post as I was keen on it last time but missed out so jumped this time.
If its no good at least BigW are easy return.

      • More cores is not always better, the 1.5GHz A9 will beat the 1GHz A7

From what I've seen in benchmarks the quad core 1GHz A7 (Allwinner A31) is neck and neck with the dual core 1.5GHz A9 (AML8726-MX) in terms of CPU performance while having substantially better 3D performance.

  • Well, got mine today and overall impression was ok for the dollars paid.
Seems reasonably fast , feels solid enough and has google play, netflix and several other apps ready to go.

Dislikes:- The viewing angles are shit - no other way to say it, dont like 7 inch screens Vs my current 8inch and the power cable does not charge through micro usb like all my other devices but through some dicky little post type plug.

Only got about 4 hours of fiddling around on it until it started giving low power warnings then ran down rapidly.

Might wander off to coles tomorrow and see what the viewing angles on the pedopad are like
