    add netflix to it easy

  • Oops, that's meant to be a positive! I've got a few Apple tv's running Netflix and Hulu using Getflix, very easy.

  • How do these compare to the boxee box. I have found the boxee box plays everything I throw at it. Can anyone comment?

Can this play MKV files or media off a HDD?

    • +1

Short answer no. I would stick to a proper media player for MKV (or even some of the smart TVs and blueray players)

This would be more suited for Airplay of your iPad or iPhone or using US services like Getflix/Netflix.

  • Supposed to be a new model coming soon… but that's been the case for ages. Good price.

    • Yer I want one but I keep telling myself wait for ATV4 but when???

I just want a Apple TV to stream my movies to my TV with coverart and description

Also airplay foxtel go to my TV

      • pretty sure you can't output foxtel go to any other device

    • what new features will the new model have?

  • Great device. What I really need is a faster internet connection. And maybe native ABC iView.

    • A lot of the Smart TVs, blueray players and DVRs now have native iView.

      For example….
      Samsung TV
      Sony Bluray player
      HumaX DVR

  • Gone

  • Guess I'll wait for the next Apple TV deal or even atv4 if it ever comes out

I'm struggling to find a use for mine other than airplay from my iPad, which isn't always smooth anyway. My WDTV SMP at least can see my NAS and play from it without the need for iTunes to be the go-between.

    • My Apple TV was rarely used until I set up Getflix and Netflix.
Fairly simple to set up. About $13 per month, but a fairly good range of TV and movies on there.

I agree for movies on a hard drive my WDTV and LaCinema get used a lot.
