  • check again….it's $236.90 on checkout :-)

  • While shipping isn't included in the dealspot one, it does make it basically the same price (less than 2% difference).

Which means it's not a bargain.

    • +1

  • Forgive me, I actually thought it was a good deal as many people have bought it from us already. So to be clear, the fact that one other website has a similar offer and that most people buy it for $499 in Myer or DJ's, means that this is not a bargain? Why can't both website's offers be classified as a bargain? Clearly the 100's of people who have purchased this already would have classified it as a bargain?

    • If we were to follow this logic, I could post up virtually any computer stores price on the Asus eeePC and claim that since people have bought it at Myer, David Jones, Officeworks, DSE etc. at 15-30% more then it's a bargain.

I'm not offended by you posting up this, no need to apologise, I'm just saying it's not a bargain. I'm sorry if you find that offensive, but it isn't intended as such.

The posting guidelines are pretty clear in saying if you can simply google up a similar deal, then you shouldn't be posting it.

      • I don't agree with the 2% comment made above, many times have I seen computer products on ozbargain classified and voted as bargains when they are only slightly cheaper than the next cheapest guy (doing a staticice search).

Also, I don't think you can put virtually any online store price for the Asus eeePC and call it a bargain for the reason that it's cheaper than a traditional retail store. It's got to be cheaper than everywhere else.

So unless it's proven that this cook set can be found cheaper elsewhere (which it hasn't yet), then it's still a bargain imho.

        • This is where we differ. I tend to vote down many computer products that are less than 5% difference to it's nearest competitor. There's hardly a reason to rush out and buy this if you're only going to save $4.32 - might as well buy it whenever you want. Unless there happen to be people browsing ozbargain looking for this specific set and wanting to save $4 out of ~$235… it seems pointless spruiking to me.

          • @[Deactivated]: I think it all depends on the savings as well. For example, the recent coles petrol discount was rated very high on ozbargain (see: http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/14514). But according to your principles it shouldn't even be posted here because woolies has the exact same deal so it's technically not a bargain.

If the product has being posted recently for a similar price, then I agree that a new posting for a small discount is a waste of time. But if it's never been posted before and it's the cheapest available anywhere, then I think it could be of benefit to readers.

            • @TCM: but Woolworth's only price matched after the cole's deal was released. so originally it was a bargain.

    Hiya,

likewise tantyl, i'm not offended. Am just disappointed as i did actually do a search on "gordon ramsay 3 piece set" and found nothing coming even close, and to be honest, this is the first time I have ever heard of 'dealspot' so that was a surprise to me.

I'm aware of the tough bargain hunting school here, so didn't want to post anything not up to scratch by this community's expectations, and just double checked and couldn't see anything for 'ds' on the first 5 pages. What search did you use M27?

Sorry, I genuinely thought it was a seriously good bargain.

    • Googling gordon ramsay royal doulton 3, I found:
      - Kitchen Discount $236.95 inc shipping (minus $10 for shipping if you order something to get the total over $250)
      - Dealspot via shopping.com $236.90 inc shipping

    • hehe, same as you, Google. : )

Ok I have updated the code to give $27 off in total for ozbargainer's. Enter code "ozbargain" to buy at final price $215.58

    • Good stuff.

Will remove negative as a result.

      • +1 LOL. well done. removed my neg as well. i still prefer besima for some reason.

  • gave it a postive not only because i like Gordan, but the extra $27 as well :)

  • seems like a beat up by tantryl to be honest. Adding a +ve here.

  • Argh… I just ordered the Scanpan Fusion 3pc set for about the same amount, because it was cheaper in most online shops I looked at.

Although there isn't much real difference, I did prefer the Gordon Ramsay set after handling it in a few stores. It simply feels and looks better.

Does anyone know, for either the Gordon Ramsay or Scanpan, if the base is thicker than the walls? Or is the thickness even all over?

  • strange… I was convinced that no-one would buy anything with Ramsay's butt-ugly misogynist mug on the box — it's sure to scare away more customers than it attracts — but there are still some folks who subscribe to the 'never judge by the cover' philosophy…

the reviews I've read rate Scanpan higher than the 'celeb-endorsed' stuff, but it all boils down to marketing anyhow.
