Maternity lingerie? Isn't that a bit of an oxymoron?

Sort of like "Funeral Shorts" or "Horse-Riding Bikini".

    • +1

What a perverse comment! Do you think a woman is somehow neutered when she becomes pregnant? Unless there are complications it is GOOD for her to continue to have intercourse, right up to and even DURING labour!

Beyond which why should she lose the right to FEEL sexy, whether or not she is having sex? Is her job over once she gets up the duff?

And why would any but the most shallow of partners lose their desire for their partner - that desire should come from love, not looks - if being pregnant ended a man's or woman's attraction for their pregnant partner i would suggest seriously considering abortion/adoption and divorce. Clearly the relationship is not strong enough to survive childhood if the attraction is just whether they are a stick figure.

Attitudes like this are supposed to have gone out with the Ark!!

      • +2

You'll have to forgive the children, I'm sure they're all still very excited from the Viagra post. ;)

      • How many kids do you have?

      • +1

I really think by simply saying that maternity lingerie provides better comfort than "normal" lingerie for preg woman is enough though.. And this one has plus point for being sexy. Unless if you're one of those women whose partner lose interest after you become pregnant/divorced after you become pregnant/simply PMS … Then I understand why you exploded….

        • This may weird you out a bit, but he's a guy…

        • +1

          Yes got it from the post, but sort of unsure because the poster mentioned "man or woman's partner". Since it seems like you're a guy for sure, it's even more confusing for me why you exploded like that o.O;;;;

        • +1

It would seem weird for you for a guy to understand women, associate with them wouldn't it. have you ever associated with one? why on earth would my gender dictate my opinion? what is right and equal and fair (new words there penispump?) are a much better compass than a penis.

        • actually I said man or woman's attraction for their partner - not presuming that a pregnant woman would necessarily have a male partner, given many do not.

and i think you have the tone wrong - think incredulous 'how can anyone be sooo backward' with a touch of 'you make me feel sick you old fossil'

        • How about you tell us how many kids you have so we can reference and respect your vast experience in this field?

        • +2

C'mon guys, let's keep it classy and get back to the Hotmilf discussion.

        • How would that possibly have any relevance to what women feel when pregnant? Its not just my experience of my partner while pregnant, it is also the experiences of my close friends. It may e a surprise but good people have friends, and they listen to them. Support them through difficult stuff like asshole husbands who turn into users as soon as they have em up the duff and trapped for instance.

You could probably learn something by having some friends, especially female ones. Some gay friends would do you the world of good too.

        • Here I'll change the topic: http://i.imgur.com/bnFF0pc.jpg

        • +3

I'm not sure what you're ranting about now.. This is a freebie post for free underwear and all people are reading from you is that they should have sex in the middle of having a baby, husbands not being attracted to their pregnant wife requires abortion and befriending gay people.

          What. The.

        • Guys… I'm trying to distract you. https://imgur.com/r/cats

        • Cats you say…mmm, shiny!!! :)

        • You seriously havent read the page linked to, or the post i responded to, or are you that damned thick?
Have you even read the OP?

and the reaction to it by the victorian era

Sorry that not everyone can be as oblivious as you

        • Where in the description or page does it say "if your husband isn't attracted to you after you wear this, book in an abortion" …..?

So how many Internet maidens have you saved this month, oh noble knight?

Do you think a woman is somehow neutered when she becomes pregnant? Unless there are complications it is GOOD for her to continue to have intercourse, right up to and even DURING labour!
Beyond which why should she lose the right to FEEL sexy, whether or not she is having sex? Is her job over once she gets up the duff?

Actually I think it's far more sensitive to the plight of women to not expect them to have to maintain their sex appeal during their pregnancy. The last thing a woman needs while she's wretching up breakfast every morning, feeling nauseous all day and light-headed is wondering whether she's keeping up with some bullsh*t, society-imposed sex appeal standards.

"Oh God these cramps are killing me but instead of lying down and keeping my environment as stress-free as possible I really need to try on this maternity lingerie set and do my hair up to see if I can still look hot and sexy while I'm heavily pregnant and awaiting the most drastic change of my life; motherhood's all well and good but I need to be able to show off that box gap at 9 months, otherwise I won't make it into Cosmopolitan magazine's 'Yummy Mummy' photoshoot."

But that's just me, I might make too much sense for folks who take their cue about "women's issues" from ACA or Today Tonight and love to go on hysterical, self-righteous tirades to look like Mother Theresa in front of an audience.

And why would any but the most shallow of partners lose their desire for their partner - that desire should come from love, not looks - if being pregnant ended a man's or woman's attraction for their pregnant partner i would suggest seriously considering abortion/adoption and divorce.

So, lying to a pregnant woman is your idea of compassion basically?

It's not my problem women have become so insecure about their bodies, I don't owe them any reassurances; they have only themselves and pop culture to blame.

Pregnancy is a time for fulfilling biological and familial duties; and a woman's body is designed to get the job done, not to look amazingly "hot" while they're in labour. Once upon time women were perfectly content in their sexuality and femininity during pregnancy because they were upholding the epitome of their gender's matriarchal birthright, and it didn't matter what they looked like, because the true worth of a woman was how good of a mother and wife she could be.

Nowadays this has become perverted into some freak show charade where we sexualise absolutely everything and leave nothing sacred; including pregnant mothers, prepubescent kids, middle-aged women, etc.

        • -1

My god have you got stuff ass backward. You should find a person attractive because you love them. You should NEED to lie to them.
Your rose coloured victorian fantasies of the past are disturbed.

If your partner being pregnant is enough to make YOU feel they are unattractive then YOU are the pop culture victim, not they, and YOU clearly arent with somebody you truly love.
Not to mention 'duties' - she isnt your slave Mr Abbot. wink. Or your breeding receptacle.

There is nothing perverted about sex. The view that there is is a recent perversion of nature. There is also no reason that a woman should be expected to dress in hessian bags at a time of her life whee for many their biological drives toward sex are generally very strong thanks to the very natural masses of sex hormones involved.

There should never be a requirement for a women to 'dress sexy' but neither should there be an expectation she not. Humans are sexyal cratures, she has the right to express that. And to feel wanted at this of any time in her life. She is already giving enough to bear a chil=d, sexaul identity should not be added to the list.

So how many Internet maidens have you saved this month, oh noble knight?

More of your antiquated BS eh. You REALLY have things ass backward. Not about a woman, its about the rights of all women.

My god have you got stuff ass backward.

Sometimes mycosys, I honestly swear that is the OzB mantra. (present company excepted)

I'll offer you some sage advice about arguing on OzB (and the interwebz in general)…don't! Just say your piece & move on; don't bother trying to defend your position or point out the flaws in the other person's viewpoint. Arguments always just devolve into idiotic taunt/rant dyads that achieve nothing, and make each party sound seriously personality disordered.

Yeah, it takes a fair bit of restraint to bite your tongue sometimes, but just recalibrate your BS filter for OzB grade shenanigans & you'll be far happier for it! ;)

        • Have a Chai Latte and simmer down Oprah.

        • -2

sorry, i cant stand the fetid crap. I take my chai made properly, I also dont subscribe to the trite pop psychology of a 'feelgood' money making sage designed to profit from the insecurities of women.
I do however suggest you move to saudi arabia or russia, or anywhere that missed out on the civil rights movement and sexual revolution that at least in some part undid the damage of the puritans - where views like yours are more mainstream.
I also strongly suggest you restrain from breeding - but luckily your personality likely has that aspect under control.

Thanks StewBalls but as they say all it takes for evil to prosper is for good people to do nothing. I have dealt with far worse than the pathetic barbs of a basement keyboard warrior. I kind of miss dealing with actual intelligent trolls back when the web was nascent and usenet and the echos had people with real conversational skill. At least they would be able to come up with a better response than 'duhhhh i dont get it' as an attempt to troll. I really am not sure if dicky is really that think or thinks it is trolling. I really do wish it would quit its incessant drone whenever i post, however. hopefully it will have another nice long holiday soon and the general tone of the site can lift by a score or more of IQ points.
Mohammed here I kind of feel sorry for, but moreso for any woman he should manage to ensnare. I hope he is as frank about his antiquated views in his personal life.

At least women can see by better people responding that they don't have to put up with being a female eunuch, as Greer put it so long ago. Thirty years and still the attitudes it challenged poison the minds of the intellectual stragglers of our society, and sadly still neuter far too many women. Enough really is enough.

        • +1

Seriously mycosys, get over yourself. You have no right to tell a man what he should and shouldn't be attracted to.

Sex is only a small part of a relationship and only one way to archive closeness. To put this from another persecptive, if a woman can't go nine months without sex because the men doesn't feel comfortable with the idea, prepahps she's a selfish b.

Relationships are about compromise, not bending over for every woman's desires. Despite what the neo-feminist gargbage on the media may want you too think.

Mind your own business and stop lecturing strangers about their private live.

        • the hypocrisy - it breeds

where the f do you get off telling other what to say? censorship is an ugly thing used by those with no defense

the female eunuch is a first wave feminist concept, not neofem. just btw.

And a MAN would not only be after a woman's looks, or stop wanting to pleasure them after they knocked em up, thats for a half grown manchild.

        • +2

Yet its OK for you to tell men who they must have sex with? You sir are the hypocrite. Once again, get over yourself. You sound like a first year uni student who suddenly thinks he knows everything and the rest of the world needs your wisdom. Actually you would if your post had even the most basic of punctuation.

Last time this promo was on ozbargain i ordered a pair for the misses but seriously hadn't read maternity.. (Probably been drinking) which put me between a rock and a hard place!
Anywho, the misses gets them one day and goes, "WTF did you buy me maternity undies for, either you think i'm getting fat or know something i don't"….
So today i ordered her another pair…

    • +1

Ive heard a lot of girls say that nice maternity undies are about the comfiest undies they have worn.

      • Because they fall off, making it feel like you're wearing nothing at all… Because you aren't?

I would say that is exactly what is up with it. Challenging attitudes like that.
There are many gross things about childbirth - blood, and pain, and feces and urine and watching the person you love in inconceivable agony. Milk is certainly not one of them.

  • During Labour?

Aren't the midwives going to complain I'm 'in the way' of the process?

    • +1

in the way? i would think you're doing them(and your partner!) a big favour by lubricating her vagina which means faster delivery and less pain! just ask any mum who has been through 12 hours of labour…
