another $10 price drop from the previously posted deal.

Didn't manage to get a 'price difference' refund on this one, I bought about 10 days ago at ~$231 and already claimed a price drop refund of $21ish

Their policy is not on their website, but from chat session its
"For the items which are sold and shipped by Amazon.com, we'll issue a refund for the price difference within seven days of delivery for the first price drop."

So, anyone who's bought recently, get on and claim your $US10 refund

$209.99 USD actually. Closer to $210 USD when you round up. Just stating a fact. No need to neg me over that.

Quite a good deal. This drive is $299 at PCCG.

    • good point, and thanks for the edit. I was in a rush - I was meant to be working !

Those others who ordered this recently when it was $219.99 USD and hadn't claimed a partial refund yet better get onto Amazon support chat to get the $10 USD price difference refund. If it was me i would.

Anyone reckon SSD prices will keep going down?

    • +2

I'd say that amazon has a fair amount of stock of these as they are an older/obsolete model.. so they'll just continually knock off a few buck until it's all gone.. the question is.. when do you jump…

      • Well, at least you get some coverage from Amazon there with their price difference refund policy. But you only get to dip in that pool once per order. It's a bit of a gamble.

I doubt the price will drop drastically in the short term.

    • Hell yeah. Maybe not as much as HDDs have but probably at a comparable rate. I can say that 500GB drives for ~$100 will be possibly a commonality in another few years.

      • It will happen. I mean 2TB HDD's were at one time costly but they a few years later fell down to $100 and under.

        • I agree. I first bought my 1.5 TB HDD when it first came out for just over $400, and that was the cheapest by far I found at the time.

The only way is down for ssd in sata form factor

Cause the more and more new control chips and smaller fabrication chip the less and less the price it will be.

At this stage in 2014, the breakthrough point is 500 gb drive at sub 200 aud level

    Prices would be stable at : 6x to 7x for 128 100 to 12x for 2xxgb and 19x to 21x for 480/512 by the end of 2014.

Unless some thing happens that blocks the supply of NAND chips. Some thing like a natural disaster wiping out a major manufacturing plant. Remember what happened in Thailand a few years ago with the HDD manufacturers.

      • oh well.. Or GFC mark 2.. where all US EU Chinese / AUS banks collapsed lol

if fab production go the way industry projected, we will see the production quantity atleast double the rate of 2013 by early 2015!

We will see controller chips and ram gets cheaper too, which itself cost the other 1/4th of the cost of the SSD.

the days of magnetic disc hdd with size advantage are numbered…expect 3-5 TB drives charging at 600 + USD level in 2015!

  • is it any good? worth paying extra for the Samsung evo 500gb version?

    • +1

One of the best. Not worth spending the extra for the EVO unless you want another 20GB

  • If anyone is interested in the M550 models, the 256GB & 1TB have been reduced to their lowest prices ever;

  • I'm biting when they are $200 delivered! 6weeks?

    • don't hold your breath! They need to keep these as expensive as possible to justify the higher price of the m550's

  • Any idea what the international shipping costs are to Perth WA…thanks?

    Never mind…I found it eventually

  • Wow.. price went back up to $229.. way to go amazon!
