wait for the pick up confirmation first.. Don't get your hopes too high.. but thanks for sharing in case they honor. :-)

$5 for a case? Are they dreaming? I can buy an entire e-reader for that price!
      :)

      • LMAO

      • I'd hazard a guess and say this is the reason for the price error on the readers.

    • just did, thanks!

  • -2

    saved myself a trip

  • only just bought an e-reader last month

i bought this just in case, DON'T wont to miss out….

  • +3

Damn it, I missed it :(

  • +9

Got confirmation to go pick up. Will report back soon. (i ordered 10)

    • +9

      Pics or it didn't happen

    • We're definitely going to need pics if they honor this :p

    • +5

you ordered ten??? no wonder the deal expired.

      • Someone ordered 50!

        • the person who ordered fifty probably tipped the staff that something was up (unless there's like some automatic detection for suspicious quantities in orders - like jbhifi online is that smart…)

    • +4

Got them!!!! will post pic soon

      • nek minnit: eBay has 80 TRS-2's up there.

    • +30
      • wholly cow!!!

      • +4

Now he can read 10 books at once

      • Can I buy one? Please

      • When did you order?did you get in early?

        • -1

10mins after this deal was posted i called my mate to order it.
he ordered from two stores…so far he only got the confirmation to pick up for one store.

      • +2

        You truly love reading, mate!

      • You Lucky Bustard…

      • Lucky! I ordered two and the order was cancelled :(

      • Nice, I wonder if the OP managed to get one?? He/she deserves one! What do you reckon cheapm8?

      • lucky bstrd…!

and the other sleepy bstrd in that JB gona get his/her ass whooped! Pricing error according to manager@ my local JB.

      • the staff might got sack by end of today

      • nice!

      • +2

        Am I missing something here?

When Michalek tried to order 10 for his colleagues in his office, he got flamed. But when cheapm8 orders 10 (and whose mate also orders multiples), his pic is greeted with admiration.

I don't get the difference in reaction.

        • When michaelek tried to order 10, people thought they had a chance at getting one. The fact that one person ordered 11 means that 10 other OzB'ers would have missed out.

cheepm8 posted about his 10 AFTER it was confirmed that it was a price error - the price went up to $85. Obviously nobody was going to get one for $5, so congrats to cheepm8 for possibly being the only one to get the deal.

I pity the poor JB salesperson though!

  • OK checked my checkout cart and i still have one there!!! Does anyone know how long they stay there for before they disappear. could leave the computer on for a couple of days then process it. If payment option was not needed i would have happily sent it to someone as I have one already :(

    • +3

It will fail at the next purchasing step.

      • yep!!! thx anyway ;(

  • +1

  • I just got an email from PayPal saying the transaction has been cancelled. :(
Now what? Is it worth doing a PayPal dispute resolution?

    • Quad core or only dual core?

    • Why did you go to JBhifi to pickup your car?

    • +2

Rather have the eReader. Couldn't afford the insurance on that Ferrari.

$5.00 was supposed to be the cover not the reader itself, Thanks IT dept at JBHIFI.

Ok, shall I buy the cover for the same price as the reader ????

  • Someone had theirs honoured so there's still hope. negative voters are hella bitter they had no fun waiting for pickup emails

    • -3

No one's had their's honoured, unfortunately it looks like its going to get cancelled…

      • -1

        It happened… There's pics.. ^^^^

        • Only honoured because they got into the store quick.

        • He got order pick up email first actually.

  • Order cancelled :'(

    • +3

Same. And I only wanted the one. Yet, others got ten no problem. And not a word from JB themselves.

Never really expected to receive it but would have been nice to have seen a little more consistency and professionalism.

    • Same here. Paypal transaction has been marked as cancelled.

  • -2

I know last year in US when a $2500 fare went online as $25.00, the customers went mad and bought the tickets for $25.00 and Flight company had no choice except to honour the deal as it's companies responsibility for advertising the right info on website at first place.

So, if JBHIFI don't honour this we all should hire a lawyer and fight against them to honour the deal!!!!

    • +1

we all should hire a lawyer and fight against them to honour the deal!!!!

Do you have a deal for a free lawyer by any chance? :)

      • +4

Jb are selling lawyers for $5

      • Just need to find a lawyer who'll take on a class action lawsuit on a no win, no fee basis. If we win the lawyer gets to keep 33.33% of the Sony Readers as their fee,

    • +1

cool… you do that mate. Keep us posted.

      • Going back a few years to my uni days but i always thought advertised prices were "an invitation to treat" and that they didnt have to be honored, some companies do honor them to save face.

This was a uk uni and it was just a few law modules on a marketing course so please done take legal action or neg me if it turns out i am talking out of my hoop.

    • How can we say that this is not and cheap publicity and advertisement. It's not the first time that JB has done this . What if COD or other sites post a deal …say ps4 for 10 dollars and they give out one unit to their staff but still attract a huge traffic.

      • +1

If this is publicity, they're not doing themselves favours by not honouring it.

    • +2

as it's companies responsibility for advertising the right info on website at first place.

The T&C for using their website stipulates:

JB Hi-Fi reserves the right to cancel, at any time before delivery and for whatever reason, an Order that it has previously accepted. JB Hi-Fi may do this for example, but without limitation, where:
      (c) Goods ordered were subject to an error on the Website, for example, in relation to a description, price or image, which was not discovered prior to the Order being accepted;

      https://www.jbhifionline.com.au/termsconditions/Information/…

The airline decided to turn it around and make it a marketing coup by honouring it. They got free press coverage worldwide. That's not going to happen for JB and an e-reader.

    • +2

      Better call Saul

  • +1

Waiting for the $10 voucher :p

  • +6

If someone's got 10 with no problem, JB should honor all of us!!

    • +2

What is this word "honor" that I read?

  • Mine paypal status still pending…

  • Price changed to $89

  • Oh, well, my order has been cancelled. Unlike the Sony Powerbank. No luck this time.

  • +3

got email from jb saying order dispatched #10562*** and paypal taken $14.95

    • Dang! I ordered within 3-4 minutes of this deal coming live and got a cancellation order.

    • just got cancelled email :(

  • OZbargain Professionals?? strike again! We will become more infamous than anonymous:))

    This from the ACCC website:

    Misleading advertising

It is illegal for a business to make claims to customers about its goods or services—including claims about price—that are incorrect or likely to create a false impression. This includes advertisements or statements in any media (e.g. print, radio, television or online) and any claim made by a person representing your business.

Intention is irrelevant. You may breach the law even if you thought the statement was correct when you made it.

    • +2

Having a right and being able to exercise it are different things.
And I am sure there are disclaimers on the website about pricing errors.

    • +2

Yep, but look at the relevant laws. From the Australian Consumer Law, Section 47 states:

"The displayed price will include where the price is: annexed to, written, printed, stamped or located on the goods or anything used in connection with the good; displayed on anything on which the goods are mounted for display; published in a catalogue which is still current; or is in any other way represented so that consumers could reasonably infer that the price is applicable to the goods. It does not include where a price is displayed in a currency other than Australian or where the markings on the goods are not considered the price or are a manifest typographical error."

This is obviously a typo - if the displayed price is a typo, the supplier is not obliged to provide the good.

Oh, and someone below's pointed out a bit from their website too.

  • I just received an order confirmation from JB.

    I received a cancellation email:(

  • Oh, I missed it

  • +1

Maybe I should buy the cover too to go with my reader?
That way I will have something to argue about when they renig.

  • +3

Still haven't gotten any emails. The suspense is killing me.
